Stayed here after a bad experience at a hotel down the street. Luckily found a good rate and was pleasantly surprised to be able to check in upon our arrival around 10am. Super helpful front of house staff. The room was huge for a standard room and the bathroom had great facilities. Bed was large and very comfortable, and really appreciated the walk in closet as well as fridge in the room. Location wise you are super central, with a lot of amenities like Starbucks and Walgreens just across the street. Maybe more of a SF issue than the hotel, but did feel a little uncomfortable being out in the area in the evening due to the large numbers of homeless on the streets - we saw on a few occasions people harassing guests coming in and out of the hotel, but was handled well by the reception staff. Main reasons for one star being knocked off was firstly the AC in the room. While the window was openable, it was quite unnerving to have it open on the 10th floor. We hoped the AC would compensate for this, however it would not go below a pre-set temperature level when we could’ve appreciated some cold air coming in. We did ask the front desk twice about this and they said they’d send up maintenance to manually change the limiter but unfortunately this never happened. The reception area also can become incredibly loud in the evenings with the bar having live music - there were times I could not hear the staff talking to me due to the volume. It also took a considerable amount of time to check in, at least a 10+ minutes process which began to be irritating if we had something to ask but had to wait behind large groups to check in. We also did not get bathroom amenities restocked on three occasions. These may seem like trivial issues, but for the price point of the hotel these should not be issues in the first place. Otherwise however we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend.…
My partner and I had to book a place pretty last minute. We had a week and a half until we were going to be in San Francisco, so I had a last minute scramble. I did a lot of research of places to stay around Union Square and landed on choosing The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel. I was definitely glad we went with this hotel!! The building could not be more centrally located. It's surrounded by different fun shops and restaurants. The hotel was very nice. The lobby had so many places to sit if one wanted to do so. I also really appreciated the COVID-19 policies. Masks were required in all public spaces and the policies they were keeping were clearly stated on the website. That was one thing we were definitely looking for. Before I arrived, I was asked if I had a preference of the location of the room. I asked for something quiet and asked for a view if possible. They were easily able to accomodate us! Our room was on an upper floor with a city view and I could barely hear anything. Everything was so wonderful. We even were able to have a drink at the famous Redwood Room! It was so beautiful in there. I will definitely come back to the Sonesta one day.…
We have made annual trips to San Francisco and The Clift has become our favorite hotel in the city by the bay. It was recently completely renovated and now has a crisp, modern urban vibe yet the historic Redwood Room offers a classic sophisticated ambiance with skilled and sociable mixologist, live jazz or a DJ some nights. The Front Desk staff were so welcoming and accommodating, and the housekeeping service impeccable. Simply amazing all around! Can' wait to return.
What a fabulous stay at The Clift! The room was comfortable, cozy, quiet and spotless! Room to spread out and not "work from the bed" the desk and seating area gave me space to work and relax. The team was excellent, accommodating and friendly. Food was delicious at our event and breakfast and coffee in the morning were exactly what was needed to start my day. The history of this building is well maintained and a fun story to hear!
I stayed there for a business conference in September and was very impressed by the service, accommodations, decor and food & beverage quality. Top notch - a must when staying in San Francisco. I highly recommend for business & leisure travelers.
The entire team at the The Clift is awesome! From the moment I arrived until the day I left everyone was warm, genuine and caring. The rooms are beautiful, the food delicious and the Redwood Room is perfect!
You must stay at the Clift Royal Sonesta when visiting San Francisco! The staff, location, service and food were excellent! My guest room was absolutely gorgeous and comfortable, I slept like a baby. I will definitely recommend this hotel to all my friends and family!
Clift is a brand new refreshed hotel. The service was impeccable and the setting is modern and charming. The design of the hotel is only matched by attention to detail. From uniforms of the doormen, to the new Redroom smacks of luxury. However, it is the fun, modern luxury where you feel comfortable and at home. I highly recommend this hotel.
It was my first trip to SF, and stay at The Clift Royal Sonesta hotel. We were there for a conference. The location is excellent. You can walk to the central shopping district. The hotel is in excellent condition and clean. The bar was phenomenal, they had a different type of music every night, a perfect place to socialize and network. The food quality was good too. Overall a seamless stay.
I travel to SF for work frequently and stay at a different hotel. My last trip, for whatever reason, rates for my regular hotel were our of my allotted work budget, so I chose The Clift, simply based on it's proximity to my office. That isn't why I'll be returning though! I will return for the amazing service I received literally everywhere in the hotel. Checking in was quick and easy, and when my teenager who was traveling with me complained about having to share a bed with mom, I was kindly offered a room with two beds. The room itself was clean, comfortable and very nicely furnished and decorated. I grabbed coffee and breakfast downstairs every morning and again, amazing and quick service, and the breakfast was great too. Dinner and drinks at The Redwood Room were fantastic. I had to entertain business associates and The Redwood Room is an absolutely beautiful place to do it. The service there was also top notch, and the food was fantastic. As far as amenities, cleanliness and cost, The Clift and my usual hotel are about the same, but the staff and service at The Clift were A+ and why The Clift will be my new regular place to stay.…
