If you don't care about designer furniture or fancy interior design, this is the place for you. It is clean if a little bit worn. Perfect for me. Market Street is a couple blocks away. I will definitely stay here again. Mario was very accomodating. Keep up the good work.

Following a one night stay in another SF hotel, the Castillo Inn was a real luxury - your own front door and your own key so that you can come and go as you like. Mario is the most unassuming guy with a great personality and showed us round the city after collecting us from the car hire place. The...

I stayed here in July 2006. This place is cozy and comfortable. It has 3 large rooms with big beds and one smaller room with a smaller bed. The bathroom is shared. It's not glamorous but it's the best value for money in the Castro. You won't find anything better at that price. I stayed for almost two weeks and...

Add to that the apt. below is under construction, ie hammering ect... What we have here is a bit of a...

Shared facilities and I was lucky when I was there that the other guys that were stayoing were really cool as well. I am sure there are other more glamorous places around...

Mario was really great, as was Christina. Upon arrival Mario meet me at the door to the guesthouse and took me on a tour to the highest point in the bay area (Twin Peaks). What a view! The guesthouse was fully equipted with all the comforts of home. I had full access to the complete kitchen and they both were...

Staying in The Castro

Neighbourhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
