I loved my stay at the Adelaide hostel! The staff were super flexible and the spaces were kept clean and comfortable. The kitchen and free breakfast are a huge bonus, as well as the convenient location.
I have stayed at the Adelaide hostel for 5 nights in a shared 4 beds room. The facilities are not the newest and could use some renovation, but overall clean. Very basic accomodation as one would expect from a hostel. The type of living was quite like going back to staying at a dormitory, not in a good way. Some may argue that it's like that in any hostel, but my past experience staying in other hostels in different US cities , like in New York, was quite better, so I have something to compare it with. The offered "breakfast" is basically a do-it-yourself bagels with different spreads, cereals, fruit and uncooked eggs. You can use the kitchen to cook yourself, but the kitchen can get quite crowded in the peak hours (mornings and evenings). Wifi was overall ok, although did get disconnected at times. The biggest con for me was the high noise level by some tenants being in the alley outside the building very late at night that I could hear from my room. Although not directly management's fault, I think they should pay more attention to that and give some warnings. Overall, a budget option in a very good central location close to everything that I would recommend to those who are travelling solo or maybe with a friend, who are ok with the basic stuff and will use it mainly for sleeping purposes…
Great price for bunk in central San Francisco, good space and setup in living area and kitchen. Each bunk has its own light, wall plug, and curtain for privacy. Some street noise but not too bad. Good place across the board.
I've been lucky to have stayed at the Adelaide many times over the years ! It's very clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. The owner is hands on and always there to make sure everything runs smoothly. Twice a week they offer a very nice dinner , Shepard's pie $ pasta night . Every morning a continental breakfast is offered , with fresh fruits ! During summer , they also offer a camping trip to Yosemite park. It's located in the Union Square area , which is centrally located in the city. They also offer a weekly pub crawl and Sunday is movie night. Always reasonably priced , it's a must stay if you're traveling light in USA. Enjoy your stay
I've been traveling down in Cali for long time, and what the best u can find in a travel when u arrive in a city is a honest place. Cheers to Adelaide. I like that! In the reachest city in America one of the best quality-price ratio por night. I been in that hostel long time ago, maybe 6 or 7 years ago. I have really good times. Staff, cleaning room everyday, good atmosphere, fresh breakfast, nice patio down to the kitchen, front desk available 24hours helping u in everything...And years later this hostel somehow still have good service and make some good vibration of the city. This hostel with all the people that work in it know how to take care of your company. There are so many option for visiting the city through that place. u can have a bike just one block from there and make around in yours beautiful journey. Never get boring there. My thanks dear Adelaide, Yours G…
Couldn’t have been nicer, accommodated us very well couldn’t do enough Very nice hostel cleaned everyday Breakfast suppued every day Promised dinner x2 a week but never got it in the three weeks we were there
I only stayed for 1 night as I was transferring in San Francisco, and I got what I expected. The building is quite old, but the facilities are OK as for a hostel, the living room is very nice and homey, and the staff were nice and helpful. There's breakfast included, and I also liked the fact that instead of massive bathrooms with multiple cubicles, they had a bunch of smaller separate toilets, showers or both. The location is superb!
My husband and I recently stayed at Adelaide Hostel. We were so delighted with our experience that we can't wait to go again. We've even dubbed it our home away from home in San Francisco. Not only is the location perfect (downtown), but the price is super-affordable. The owners seem to have captured some of that magic of the 60s with the decor and general ambiance, which renders it a very comfortable and chill place to be. What we really loved was the breakfasts and free dinners. The food is yummy! Thank you much for making our stay a joy :)
I stayed at the Adelaide Hostel from 19-28 October in a private room : Elizabeth My visit to San Francisco was a special one as I celebrated my 50th birthday on 24 October. The Adelaide is a lovely place to stay : superfriendly and helpful staff, free breakfast every morning from 7-10am and twice a week free dinner. The communal livingroom is cozy and there are computers for free use. The rooms are clean and with free wifi. It is very central : only 10 min walk to Powell Street and Union Square. A steep 10 min walk up brings you to Nob Hill. I highly recommend this gem and I will def return next year and for many years to come.
Not clean at all. I’ve travelled a lot and stayed in many hostels for a less money and it has to be the dirtiest hostel I’ve stayed in. The wall and floors at stuff all over them. The bed felt dirty and the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. Hostel showers aren’t always the cleanest but this was just over the to gross. The kitchen always had dirty dishes and overly full bins. Only positive about this hostel was the free breakfast of bagels. I couldn’t recommend this place.
