This review is written by "BackinCarmel's girlfriend..FYI My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night, upon check in we were told that we were about to experience the Friday night entertainment in the bar. So we went in and were surprised by some inner city children palying the most beautiful classical music. We enjoyed our complimentary glasses of wine and...

We stayed at Hotel Rex on our honeymoon for 3 nights. The staff were very attentive and had great local knowledge. It is an older hotel which adds to ambience however it does mean you can sometimes hear other rooms. This wasn't an issue but worth noting. We would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Had stayed in numerous other properties, so was a little reluctant to try a new one. Hotel is quaint, tastefully appointed, relatively quiet (for SanFran) and staff was superb. Wine tasting in the evenings was pleasant and relaxing. Rooms are a little smaller than some chains in suburbs, but relatively large for downtown San Francisco. My room was near the...

Very nice boutique hotel in the heart of the Union Square area. Nice room, amazing shower, nice lobby, exceptionally helpful staff. Would stay here again anytime. Request a room on a high floor in the back.

My wife and I stayed here for one night, before heading to wine country for our honeymoon. The hotel was perfect for what we needed. Good value, good location, and friendly staff. The rooms are small, but comfortable. We enjoyed a glass of wine downstairs for happy hour. The one drawback was the view. Our room had a view of...

We stayed at the Hotel Rex during the first part of our honeymoon trip through North America. We tend to favour smaller boutique hotels with character and this certainly did not disappoint. When we were greeted on arrival, we were congratulated on our recent marriage and upgraded to an Executive King Room which was very spacious - there was also...

We arrived on a Friday, when the Rex has live music in the evening, and so found ourselves sitting with a glass of complimentary Cabernet listening to a string quartet of young musicians who were trying to make their way in the world; it was enough to bring a tear to a glass eye. I think that moment perfectly encapsulates...

My wife and I went to the city for a quick get-away weekend. We loved the location of this hotel. Only 2 blocks from Union Square!!! Our room was very clean & comfortable. We had a great breakfast the next morning at the Cafe Andre.

Very nice little boutique hotel at a great location just a block or so from Union Square. I really liked the decor and atmosphere, but our room could have been better. It was certainly clean and nice, but the floor was slanted (yes, slanted) and during the night, I kept sliding into my husband while we were sleeping. Also, our...

Based on the reviews, we expected a lot more. But here's what we found: an old remodeled hotel with small rooms, where the king size bed takes up the whole room. The in-room A/C was a window-mounted unit that was so noisy that it kept us awake at night, but it had to be kept on or the room got...
