We stayed at Beck's on the last night of our holiday. We wanted to be somewhere central, relatively close to the airport, and to have parking. Beck's fulfilled these requirements. The room has all the necessary amenities and was spotlessly clean. The reception team were friendly and responsive. Had we stayed for breakfast, free coffee was available across the road....

We chose Beck's because of its location and parking facilities. We had expected traffic noise but we did not notice it in our room towards the back of the lodge. We used the streetcar to do a quick tour down Market St and along the waterfront and then back to Castro for dinner.

We stayed here for 3 nights in September. The motel is ideally located to get around the city with tram stops on the street outside. (The tram journey down to the Fisherman's Wharf takes approximately 45 minutes in rush hour). We found the rooms to have been recently decorated with new carpets and furniture. Daily maid service kept the rooms...

This was our second visit to San Francisco to meet up with friends. Given how expensive most rooms are in SF, and the fact that we wanted to be in The Castro this was an obvious choice. I have to say that some of the locals were surprised we had chosen to book Beck’s, I can only assume they had...

Beck's Motor Lodge is just a few blocks from Castro located on Market near many great restaurants and bars. Beck's also has amply parking if you drive to town or are renting a car. The location is great if connecting to mass transit lines as well. Beck's has gone through a recent remodel and our room was clean, very nicely...

Newly remodeled hotel with a great location on Market Street with comfy beds and large rooms. The wi-fi connection was super fast with no issues. Was a bit noisy but that was no fault of the hotel. Parking is first come first served so its worth getting a spot in the morning. Overall a great stay.

We are always excited to hear a guest enjoy their stay! Our central location on Market St in the Castro is definitely a bustling area of the city - filled with great store, transportation and people. Our parking is first come, first serve, which is why we offer it for free (which is unheard of in San Francisco). Most people...

We had a great stay, the hotel looks like it has been newly remodeled. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Parking get a little tricking and not guaranteed but with a little help from the staff they made room for our car (Thank you) considering most Hotels in the area do not have parking and you would have to...

We had a nice stay at Beck's. The rooms are remodeled nicely. We had a room at the front on the street and you do hear some street noise during the night not a problem for us but if you need quiet you may want to request a room at the back. Location is great we were able to catch...

What's not to like about this funky hotel. Friendly, helpful staff, very clean rooms, comfortable beds, fantastic fire pit seating areas, balcony rooms overlooking the bay, outdoor games, the location, close to everything gem of a find.

My husband and I have been traveling to San Francisco for years but in the last we always avoided Beck's because it was a dive and had a very seedy reputation. Based upon their complete remodel and reviews posted on here - we decided to take a chance on staying there over the Labor Day holiday. The hotel room was...

Staying in The Castro

Neighbourhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
