Stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin while visiting my son. The cabins were clean, spacious and had a kitchen stocked with all the cooking supplies we needed. We had a great time and enjoyed the beach and restaurant on site. It isn't in a great part of town but is protected by military police 24/7. It is also far from Waikiki and traffic is heavy. However, we couldn't beat the price. We wouldn't have been able to go if we didn't stay here. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend.

Due to lack of continuity in the customer service, I'm forced to give a low rating. Translation I would give ZERO stars if I could. Checked in for two night stay-vaction. Upon check in around 615pm (office closes at 7pm), I informed the desk clerk that I may have to modify my reservation to 1 night due to work but I wouldn't know for sure until 730pm. I then told her, I'm willing to risk paying for a night I may not use the cabin. She then said there's no reason to risk anything as I could come back in the morning and let them know I wanted the cabin for the 2nd night. I said that would be great and asked what time they open as I promised to let them know as soon as they opened. 10 minutes after opening, I approached the front desk to let them know I was going to take the 2nd day. Only to find out, they sold the reservation "last night". They couldn't even offer me a late check out due to their error. Instead, I now have less than 2 hrs to vacate.

Cottages are run down and very unkept. The restaurant is very disorganized as is the front office. When you go to the restaurant they will give your table away to their friends if they happen to show up while you are waiting. The front office is slow and and doesn't always tell you the truth when it comes to availability. The cottages are run down although there are some that are renovated. The insects and roaches are expected because it's Hawaii but we wish the air conditioners actually worked, at least in the ones that are nearest the water. Then they rent a cottage and they have removed all silverware, plates, toasters, and coffee pots, and even charge more during the pandemic. No other AFRC on island does this. The army really does not keep this place up at all, and don't expect it to get better when this virus is over. Its the new normal for this place. You cannot compare this to Bellows, Kaneohe Marine Corps base cottages or even the cottages at White Plains which are all better kept up. The two stars are for the views and beach.

Stayed at the Waianae Hale, which is the 'O-6' accommodation at the Center. The place is run down and neglected. The mechanisms for almost all the louver windows are broken and the windows are not secure. The window screens are either non-existent or have big gaps or holes in them. With broken windows and no screens, the bedroom was a cockroach highway. Sleep was difficult, as cockroaches and other bugs crawled under the covers at night. You are either awakened by them or wake up with crushed cockroach parts (from when you rolled over and killed them in your sleep). A really disgusting experience and we checked out early without sleeping there another night. Did they express any concern or offer a refund for the night we didn't stay there? No. There are many other problems with this unit; I just covered the highlights. Is there a plus to this place? The beach is absolutely beautiful and they are in the process of renovating some of the units. Be sure to ask for a renovated one if you decide to stay here.

Oh so after 3 different visits from server - um, we don’t have any fish n chips left, no more pizzas ok we will get 2 kids meals - burger no cheese and chicken fingers- she comes back no chicken fingers and actually since it is 2- you can only order first page - ok we will take coconut shrimp- oh later Hee hee none of that - ok forget just get us margaritas. And now back to waiting - it is 335 and still not checked in- front desk still waiting - oh boy off to a rough start

I've stayed a LOTS of military lodging, and this was the best. The 2 bedroom cottages are newly renovated and beautiful, and steps from the water. Pokai Bay is sheltered and the water is calm. There is an amazing restaurant on property called Beach House by 604, which was excellent. The only weird thing was no kitchen ware - plates, bowls, cups, utensils, pots, coffee maker, etc. - "due to covid." They are the only military cottages on the island doing this. SO weird.

I also caution regarding the people at the office. I made a reservation and also personally went by the office to make sure my name was on the list as the facility was on construction. They told me that they called me and email me but no response. They also told me that they will email me information but I have to follow up with them a few times to get it done. Ensure you confirm you reservation and have proof of it. Its a nice place but the front office needs to do better.

During the pandemic I totally forgot about my reservation and got charged for 1 night. The office person who does reservations strongly stated that they emailed me and called my cell & left a message regarding late checkin protocols. I told her I received nothing. Come on now !!! we live on our phone and emails and the strange thing is I never got a email or call with a message. I explained to her this and she did nothing, it’s my fault I forgot & didn’t cxl & didn’t pay attention to their false emails & phone reminder. BE CAREFUL!!! If this is how they behave during a pandemic , imagine other stuff they falsely do.

It is always a great experience spending time in this peaceful place right on the ocean. I really enjoy having my morning coffee on the lanai and watching the surfers. It has been sad that the lounge and bar building have fallen into disrepair and are closed. I heard that it recently re-opened but have not been there for a year so don't know if that is a fact. The cabins are average and have average furnishings but are clean and have a great view.

In contrast to my review in January 2019, we visited the Beach House by 604 the following Saturday and it was a completely different, much more professional and enjoyable, experience. The restaurant was crowded and we had to wait for seating on the outside deck. Once seated, the waiter came very shortly and took drink orders. After delivering the drinks in an acceptable time frame, he took our dinner orders and the meal was served in the normal time. The meal was excellent. All four of us enjoyed each of our different entrees. The water was very busy, but very professional and accommodating. The was one major drawback: There was a DJ who played music so loudly we could not have a conversation without yelling. It was almost painfully loud, and detracted greatly from the ambiance of a sunset and evening by the water.
