Came for a conference but brought my husband so we could enjoy our evenings. Lovely resort, beautiful hotel lobby and bar. Breakfast buffet was delicious but your only option is the buffet- no a la cart ordering. There are two jacuzzis which is not sufficient given the size of the resort. There are three pools but all are too small and too shallow and too cold to actually enjoy. The beach at the resort is very rocky and not enjoyable. If you drive 10 minutes you’ll get to one of the nicest beaches in the state. Luxurious and romantic, not the most practical for a beach vacation.
We had an amazing stay at the newly re-imagined Turtle Bay Resort. The Ocean Bungalows were designed with luxury, comfort, and style. The view of the ocean is uneatable and the location feels serene. Every staff we encountered were genuinely friendly. They were happy to start conversation and were respectful yet always willing to offer more than what you would need. Dinner at Alaia and lunch at the Beach House are a must. Alaia’s ambience, service, food and drinks are remarkable. Beach House was lively and food was delicious. Thank you to their GM Keith for making sure we enjoyed our lunch. We were fortunate to get to know Lani, who was a gem in putting together our stay. It was indeed a wonderful experience. As local residents, Turtle Bay is one of our favorite retreat for staycation. This stay made it even more special and we are truly grateful for the 5 star experience. We couldn’t be more pleases to recommend the resort to everyone!…
Being a Disney couple celebrating our 10 year anniversary, we were torn between this resort and Disney Aulani. We let the travel agent choose and they were right! We stayed for 5 nights in Jan 2023. While the weather was not great that week, the resort is absolutely beautiful, from the lobby, the room, the view and the pools. We ate at both restaurants for dinner and the breakfast buffet (all were good, but The Beach House was amazing). We did just about everything on offer - the restaurants, the beach, the adult pool and hot tub (many times!), the fitness center, horse riding, Hula lessons and Lei making - all were well worth it. Due to the time of year we visited (Jan during not great weather), there was always space on the pool decks, short waits at restaurants and very few kids there. The resort had an adult vibe that was perfect for us, but we know our kids would have loved it as well. I can imagine this is different in the summer. We rented a car and travelled around the island, every time we walked back into Turtle Bay, we felt special and knew that the beauty of the North Shore, and Turtle Bay was where we were meant to be.…
First of all - before the review - if you are a couple or honeymooners - this is a family resort. There are a lot of children - loud and screaming. Just FYI. Now the review - the place is really good. Excellent - no. But I have high standards. Service is amazing though which goes a long way. Staff are all friendly. Rooms and common areas are quite tidy. Well maintained. Food is amazing but as expected quite pricey. Couple of minor things - 1. The beach cabanas should be included. For the high price of the hotel it was a surprise when they charge $50 for 4 hours. Nickel and dimes but comparable luxury resorts don’t charge. This is on top of the daily resort fee. 2. Pool oversight needs to be more evident - there was a family with small children who let them run around naked. Quite improper. Additionally there should be a way to prevent people from reserving pool chairs. We showed up and was quite difficult finding a seat. 3. There are not enough adult only places. The adult pool is a sham. Overall though I’d stay here again now that I know what to expect.…
Beautiful spacious grounds covering 800 acres with myriad activities in a knockout oceanfront setting. Turtle Bay Resort boasts 5 miles of oceanfront coastline. The main hotel has 410 rooms, 42 one-story bungalows just east of the main building in arrangements of three to a structure fronting Turtle Bay and three-story “villas” to the west that offer multiple bedrooms (some privately owned and others owned by the resort). According to staff, the resort - acquired by Blackstone in 2018 - is in the process of buying these to add to the hotel. The villas are set back from the ocean, but are close to a small swimming cove. We stayed in a bungalow and loved it. They really are oceanfront, have a separate concierge staff called bungalow hosts, are on two levels with sunken tv, couch and seating area. Nice amenities, including spa robes, nice linens and toiletries, a separate large soaking tub, Toto washlet, lanai with dining table, padded benches and daybed, and swinging basket chair. Lawn area in front with hammock and sling seating. Special shoutout to Foa and Dylan who really went above and beyond. The resort has everything: two swimming beaches nearby, bikes (complimentary beach cruisers as well as little bikes for kids, and mountain bikes to rent) an Arnold Palmer 18-hole golf course as well as an 18 hole putting course, tennis, pickleball, paddleboarding, surfing, stables with over 20 horses, wooded trails for biking, riding and walking and beachfront paths, all with stunning scenery. It even has its own 468 acre farm, that also provides community plots, It has a farm stand and also allows local farmers to sell their produce as well. Minimal snorkeling on site, but this is unfortunately the poor state of coral in so many places. Resort restaurants are ok and pricey, with Roy’s Beach House being outstanding. Best to have a rate including the Ocean Club which offers breakfast (eggs and omelets to order, fruit, etc), light lunch options (pretty sparse for vegetarians, but always a green salad), and heavy apps between 5 & 7pm. Desserts, candy, cookies are always available. They also offer soft drinks and beer, with wine in the evening. Everyone at Turtle Bay is very friendly and accommodating, providing excellent service that aims to please; workers all seem to be happy here. Turtle Bay shows an impressive commitment to sustainability, with virtually no single use plastic in evidence. Guests are given refillable several aluminum water bottles and there are Elkay fillers all over the main areas of the property, TBR provides beautifully scented toiletries in moderately-sized containers (not “single serve” as in many resorts), all take out containers and utensils are made of industrially-compostable material, and the on-property Kuilima Farm supplies much of the greens and other ingredients at the resort’s restaurants. Loved TBR and found it to offer the best in a Hawaiian vacation without any glitz or pretension. The spaciousness of the resort allowed a feeling of complete relaxation.…
The newly renovated Turtle Bay Resort is a treat and the only “luxury” resort on the north shore, a haven for surfers and surfing. The rooms are simply furnished and yet well appointed. The technology for room access and streaming services are excellent. The bathrooms have both a separate shower and deep tub. The views are good to spectacular given the waves on two side and the lagoon on the other side of property. The lagoon offers a sandy/pebbly beach for swimming and other water sports for the entire community. This resort has several large indoor gathering spaces for snacks and beverages and several fire pits for guests to utilize. In the evening there are several restaurant options and the lobby bar has good hot and cold snacks, drinks, and music. There are several pools though not much management to keep children in the children’s section. What management doesn’t do, the unheated pool accomplishes…the pool water is too cold to enjoy. Hard to believe that heating the pool was missed or ignored during the renovation given the north shore is the windy and rainy coast of Oahu. I hope this oversight will be fixed soon. Hotel restaurant and pool food and beverage was good standard fair but no standouts.…
We stayed at Turtle Bay through American Express Travel. Our stay included saint breakfast and a credit. We had an ocean view room with a deck. The room was clean and modern and seemed to have been recently renovated. When you arrive st the hotel the lobby is really nice and catches your attention. There are windows bringing in fresh air, a bar and plenty of sitting areas to spread out. Overall, the food is average but filling and the waitstaff is attentive. Our best meal was at Lei Lei’s at the golf course. Plenty of activities on site for couples or children. We sat at the adult pool and beach and it was relaxing. We also took the bikes out and followed the paths on the proper to the farm. Each night guest father around the ocean and pool to watch the gorgeous sunsets. Overall, a great place to stay, especially for families or couples.…
We stayed at Turtle Bay over the Christmas holiday. As avid golfers we had visited the resort to play golf but this was our first time staying there. I was worried because I read older reviews describing the resort as tired and over priced. Not so. Our ocean view room with lanai was one of the most spacious and clean hotel rooms we’ve ever stayed in. The renovation was thoughtful and thorough with plenty of storage and plugs to charge our devices. The service was warm and hospitable. For the foodies, I’d give the hotel two thumbs up. We tried several of their dining options, including room service (overpriced but a luxury that is hard to find these days), Beachhouse by Roy Yamaguchi (delicious), Alaia (a memorable Christmas dinner), and Lei Lei’s (convenient after golf). Finally the best part of the stay was the opportunity to explore the extensive beach areas around the resort and experience the unparalleled beauty of the north shore which Turtle Bay has done a good job of maintaining…
Turtle Bay Resort is our favorite hotel in Oahu/north shore. They did a complete updating and it looks even more gorgeous than it was before. From the entrance to all the new updates they’ve done inside, truly a luxury hotel. You won’t want to to leave once you’re in there. The pool area, the restaurants. Yes, it is a bit pricey but its an experience that your family will never forget! This is a perfect place for families with kids because the pool has a slide and it’s not deep at all!
The resort is beautiful. My kids love the pool and the cove is clean and gentle, perfect for small children. Snorkels and boogie boards rent by the half day, very convenient. Other on-site beaches are rocky so you’ll have to drive if your kids want to body surf or boogie board on real waves. Fitness center is excellent. Staff is friendly. They clearly need to add a restaurant. On site restaurants are consistently booked and the hotel concierge cannot help with reservations. Nearby food trucks are a good option. In general, activities get booked up early, adding a need to schedule things in advance that doesn’t always mesh with a relaxing vacation. Stores are well-stocked but no books. Breakfast buffet is a bad value at $45, ask an employee for advice on nearby diners instead.…
