This is a great spot with the beach only steps away. It is a very secluded beach which is very nice. The water is safe for swimming with the cove protected by the reef. The unit is clean and brightly decorated. We found the bed very comfortable and the unit well stocked. It is a good size for a couple and could certainly handle a small family. The location is close to a small grocery store, drug store and a few places to eat. We enjoyed our time here and would certainly return. The best feature is the beach. While every place in Oahu has tourists this area is slower paced and a less touristy feel. Great spot to relax The unit is in an older structure and does have some limitations due to that. Like a lot of windward side places there is no air conditioning and we found a few nights a bit warm even with all the windows open and fans going. For some people sleeping on the ground floor with the windows open might not be something they feel comfortable doing. We never worried about security but depending upon the weather you will need the windows open to catch the breeze . Most nights this was definitely enough to make sleeping fine. The road behind the unit can be fairly busy and so at times there is some road noise. It isn't terrible or constant but it is something all beach properties deal with as the road follows the shore all they way along the coast. We never heard noise from any of the adjacent units. You can hear the upper unit exhaust fan occasionally but it isn't a serious issue. Gigi is excellent to deal with. She accommodated our last minute reservation and everything went smoothly. You really couldn't ask for a better person to rent from.It is so much easier to rent from someone who is fair and honest. We would consider this a great value for anyone thinking about staying on this side of the island. It is not a luxury unit but it isn't priced that way either. But it is a sweet spot that we felt very comfortable in during our stay. We spent a great deal of time relaxing on the beach and then on the patio. It was just what we were looking for on this vacation

We stayed Jan28th-Feb7th in cottege lower level. It was perfect for the five of us! We loved having our own kitchen area and kids had there own space as well.. It could use some updating and some deep cleaning on trim work ect.. But overall it was a great vacation rental.. Loved listening to the ocean every night.. Great Breakfast place down the road and groceries as well..hope to come back again someday!

I decided to add a 3 night stop over in Oahu on my way to New Zealand. My mom and I wanted to stay out of the city and the crowds and found Gigi's. The unit was 210, and just as Gigi describes in her site. The price was much more reasonable than other places advertised as "right on the beach". The unit was right on the beach! I spend my summers on the CT shoreline on the water, and this was even closer. The unit was clean and comfortable. I slept on the futon in the main living room so I could hear the ocean waves and not my mom's snoring! We had picked up some coffee and a few snacks from Tamura's market (about 6 min up the road) and relaxed in the lanai in the morning before heading about for the day. I would stay here again! Here are a few points to consider if you want to book Gigi's... The master bedroom is adjacent to the elevator so you hear the "ding" periodically, so if you are a light or nervous sleeper I would bring ear plugs. It also has a large window that faces the other units entrances so if you are looking to be "romantic" you will want to follow the advice of the signs "quiet please". Despite these minor things, the kitchen was good, and living area was very comfortable. The king size bed was also very comfortable. We rented a car for the few days to get around the island. It took about 45 min from the airport to get here, and it's easy to access other points around the island, just be aware that you do need to drive to get to other points on the island.

We had a great two weeks at Gigi's. Our criteria was beachfront, or as close as possible. After a thorough search of rentals on HomeAway.com we settled on Gigi's "Palailai Paradise." However, I did have trouble contacting her through the site and her calendar on it wasn't current, come to find out. This was my introduction to Hawaiian Time, having never been to Hawaii prior. Finally I was able to reach her on the phone and firm up the reservation. Gigi is old school, and so are the digs, so my advice is to cool your jets and get with the program if it sounds like this is what you want (best option is to refer to her site for descriptions, contact info, etc.). Regardless, she's very professional and all was as promised. The unit is literally about 20-30 ft. from the beach. You can watch the sun rise over the ocean horizon every morning. The beach is clean and quiet and you may occasionally spot a sea turtle or two. The unit, a studio, is quaint but just enough room for two. Nice kitchen. Ceiling and rafters were fairly dusty. The bed is not 5-star in terms of comfort but good enough for what you get. Minor trade-offs for a spectacular view of the (narrow) beach and ocean from the living room, a view also available directly from the bed. Overall, it was well worth the money. My advice, if you're a couple looking for a quiet, romantic getaway this is a solid option. For excitement, you can always drive to Waikiki. Wherever you go on the island, here you'll have a cute little temporary home to return to.

We sent our just married son and his new wife to cottage A2 for a week and they loved it...nice and clean, well furnished, sunrise every morning, breakfast on the lanai, lots to do nearby. They hope to return to celebrate their one year anniversary. They had a minor plumbing problem with the shower leaking and the response was immediate and it was fixed while they were out the next day....the only difficulty was a constantly screaming child next door but that is not the owner's problem...just the pick of the draw in vacation neighbors :( Lots to do in finding pretty beaches, visiting the Polyn.Cult.Center, shopping in Waikiki, eating shrimp from the shrimp trucks, buying fresh fruit, touring the island via car, taking a tour of the Arizona at Pearl Harbor and finding a relatively new zip line to ride north of Punululu area. It's older and if one is not used to beach houses then the high rise condo might be preferred but our kids loved it....only steps to the sand and water!
