“A chic boutique hotel that feels European in its intimacy, Asian in its aesthetic and Hawaiian in its geniality” - Hawaiian Airlines
Paia Inn is located in a beach town on the stunning north shore. This Small Sensitively-Designed Inn integrates modern amenities with historic Hawaiian character. In a nod to the town’s plantation days, the building’s exterior has retained its rustic charm with tin rooftops and understated hues, yet the interior mixes contemporary island furnishings with a chic lushness begging you to unwind and unplug. Matte charcoal concrete floors highlight designer furniture collected from Asia, while rooms feature organic botanical amenities and luxe furnishings.
Paia Inn’s signature dining experience and Maui News’ 2019 “Best New Restaurant” Vana. Enjoy craft cocktails, an impeccable wine & sake list, and Japanese-inspired Izakaya menu with sushi & tapas. Renowned for its white sand beaches, lush waterfalls and stylish cafes, Maui’s north shore is where you want to spend your Hawaiian vacation.
Strolling the streets of Paia, you’ll likely cross paths with world-class surfers while window shopping in one of the many designer boutiques or island-inspired art galleries. Relax in our private beach lounge with a cold coconut water and your favorite book. At Paia Inn, opportunities for indulgence are never hard to find. Now offering boutique weddings & events.

We booked for 3 nights in part inspired by a beautiful website, then seeing a large number of glowing visitor reviews, plus positive mentions in travel guides. We experienced quite a gap between the promise of our research and our experience. PROS include not being a large, impersonal resort and immediate location smack in Paia town. A big CON is the challenge of utilizing a collection of buildings between the main street and the beach in a manner that renders all rooms up to the overall reputation. We booked a 2 bedroom suite that on paper looked promising, but proved to be located behind the restaurant and landry. We understood we hadn't booked the beachfront cottage, but for the price, we found the accommodation a disappointment. Bottom line: We have to believe based on all we read that many of the rooms and suites are lovely. We recommend asking for clarity about the location and layout of your specific space. We would add, importantly, that we were not shy about voicing our concerns to ownership, and they were very responsive and open to our feedback.…
Darling boutique hotel right in the middle of town. Walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. A short walk to a beautiful beach. The adjoining Vana restaurant well worth the prices. Rooms are on the cozy side, but several large and comfy common areas. Customer Service from the hotel and restaurant staff was excellent.
Paia Inn was our first stop after long flight from east coast. The room was cute. The staff were kind and tried to be helpful. Don’t book Room 5. From other reviews I hear the larger rooms close to the beach are better. Room 5 is tiny. Sink in the room. Sliding door to bathroom. Two small towels. Loud traffic noise ALL night. (We live in downtown DC and are accustomed to noise but this is “wake you up from a sound sleep noise as cars blaring music drive by at 2 am”.) It’s not just the noise. The street light outside the window comes in around the plantation shutters. No staff on site after hours. If staying in main house and you want to get out of the building after hours use the back outdoor stairs that take you to the restaurant patio then good luck finding a door that’s not pad locked. We ran into another traveler stumbling around in the dark who said she had tried to contact someone to get help exiting the building and no one answered. There was one door that we could unlock from inside. We did find our way out the back path to a secluded beach at sunrise and were greeted by several turtles on the beach.…
The Paia Inn is really amazing. The rooms are beautiful, the people are super friendly, and the town itself has a great vibe to it. You can walk to the beach in one minute. The restaurant in the inn, Vana, also has incredible food and cocktails. I went there multiple times I stayed in a few different rooms due to myself being slow at booking more nights, and they were always able to accommodate me. When I would check out of my one room, they would have the other room ready for me ahead of the normal check in time. Overall great experience and I will be back when I am in Maui again.
Incredible location with very friendly staff. The room was very spacious and parking was easy. We saw sea turtles on the beach multiple times. Highly recommend if you plan on doing Mama’s Fish House, Road to Hana and Upcountry. P.S. try to stay Thurs-Sunday when Vana is open downstairs. Great cocktails and sushi!
