They put me in a terrible room and then refused to move me. So I found a better resort and moved out! The room was very dated and felt dirty. Also, it was over the main entrance so noisy with people coming and going. In addition the room was behind the restaurant so I listened to dishes and silverware clattering from the back if the restaurant. To get to my room, I had to pass through a service area with stacks of extra chairs, hoses and, worst of all, a rat bait box. It felt like I was watching a play from backstage (or in the alley) . The shower water pressure was so restricted that the shower was more of a trickle. The last straw was the horrible mattress - so old that you would basically roll into the large body indentation. I hardly slept those 2 nights and had incredible back and hip pain due to the horrible bed. And the worst part if it all is that the hotel staff had ZERO interest in helping to make my first visit to Maui in over 15 years a relaxing pleasurable experience.

I loved this hotel. We had an ocean view room in the second row buildings that had a very nice lanai for lounging. We only had one night to stay here and I know I could have enjoyed a longer visit. The only drawback was that our rooms had a distinct musty smell when we arrived. With the air turned up when we were out and the doors opened to the breeze when we were there, that became less noticeable. Otherwise a five rating.

I will never chose another place to stay on Maui. This was our first time to Hawaii, so we did not know much about the islands. We only went by reviews and recommendations. Napili Bay is definitely a hidden gem. Yes, it is a far ride from the airport, BUT it is worth it. The hotel, staff, grounds, service, BEACH, snorkeling --- five star. Everything is right here within reach. The market is a mile down the road in a little shopping plaza, along with a coffee shop, a vegan place, a surf shop, and a few more shops and eateries. The north shore drive is a must - skip Road to Hana for this one instead!

My husband and I spend 10 days at Napili Kai in July. I first heard about this place by looking on Trip Advisor. People kept mentioning this travel agent, Donna Bender of Maui Girls. She sounded so good, I called her. She was beyond fantastic! She loves offering her help and she literally responded to every email I wrote while we were traveling with further tips. She knows EVERYTHING, and publishes a guide for both Maui and Oahu (which we will try next). Donna loves Napili Kai and urged us to go there. We would return for sure. It's a lovely low key resort with low rise buildings with hotel rooms and condos. We stayed in an oceanfront condo. My only complaint is that the furniture is a bit old and worn. It does need replacing. But everything else about the condo and the resort was fantastic. The stretch of oceanfront they have is beautiful and the water warm and like a pool. So easy to enter. Waves are just a few steps away further down the beach. The restaurant on site served very nice lunches which is what we enjoyed there. We also went to a Slack Key Guitar concert held on the grounds. That was a highlight as were the almost daily rainbows that lasted for hours! All in all we had a great time and would highly recommend both the resort and Donna Bender for booking and all the help you could ever ask for.

We booked a Napili Kai oceanfront studio through Donna Bender of MauiCalls. Beautifully located resort on a quieter stretch of the West Maui coast. Plenty of pools and jacuzzis on the property, and easy access to good local restaurants and takeout. The beach was lovely, and terrific coral reefs for snorkeling are just a short walk away. Furnishings in the room weren't all that comfortable for lounging. Donna gave us her Local Girl’s Guide to Maui to take with us to Maui. This guide is a terrific resource for the inside scoop on where to go, eat, and play.
