Situated on one of Maui's most beautiful beaches on Napili Bay, this hotel offers a peaceful escape with a variety of activities and friendly services.
The Mauian Hotel features quiet guestrooms without phones, stereos or TVs. For technological amenities, guests can visit the Ohana Room to watch TV or use free wireless internet access. In the morning, guests will enjoy a free continental breakfast, then can play on one of the oceanfront shuffleboard courts.
Championship golf and tennis is available at the adjacent Kapalua Resort. The area surrounding the Mauian is also filled with hiking, water sports and shopping opportunities.
This is the one of the best places I have ever stayed. The rooms have kitchens and large bathrooms. Nice views of the ocean and grills to cook out. The other guests are so nice and come back year after year. If we ever get the chance to go back to Maui I will definitely stay there
The Mauian Hotel was really setup for people staying a while. All the units that we stayed in had kitchens with full refrigerators and microwaves. The property has beautiful beach and grounds including a nice warm pool with barbecues to use. They supplied chairs and beach towels and even the security people were friendly. Speaking of friendly, turns out that many of the guests were return guests and we had great conversations with many of them. In fact a few of the departing guests gave us some of their leftover groceries and barbecue stuff. And we returned the favor to others when we left. Even when the water went out for several hours due to a construction water main break, everyone was perfectly friendly and fun. Including the multiple people doing the poor man's shower (jump into the swimming pool) until the water came back on. Even the 'snacks and fruit' for breakfast, even though not a continental breakfast, was nice for those who like a light breakfast. Fruit, bagels, toast, boiled eggs, etc. The only negatives were that the office has very limited hours (options to call if something is needed) plus, if you want to do the Road to Hana or drive up to the Haleakala crater, the location adds about 50-60 minute drive to each trip. But the additional drive is a good highway and not hard.…
I'm going to start out by saying, I'm surprised at the people who left poor reviews. We really loved this place. I want point out right away that there is no resort fee at the Mauian - there are state taxes, however. I have copied my final invoice which reflects the nightly rate we paid and the final nightly price including taxes. The reviewer who said their rate jumped to $500 seems quite disingenuous to me, which makes me sad for such a nice place that obviously works so hard to take care of everything and creates a good experience for guests. Let me tell you about our experience. My husband and I just returned from Maui and we stayed at the hotel for our entire visit (March 27-April 8, 2022). The location and the beautifully landscaped grounds of the Mauian were breathtaking and impeccably maintained. Our room was on the second floor with a balcony with a table and 2 chairs. We had a view of the ocean. Everything was very clean and we had a great kitchen space with full-size refrigerator. The shower was huge and the bathroom vanity had six drawers for storing our personal items. The room had a large wardrobe for hanging clothes, storing shoes and had room to store a large suitcase and smaller items. We had a wide dresser with four large drawers for clothing. There were two bedside tables, each with a drawer and open storage space for misc items. The balcony had a drying rack for bathing suits, towels and other beach gear - a very nice touch and kept our bathroom clear of these items. The room also had a couch and a bistro-sized table with two chairs. Housekeeping came daily and were very responsive. Our toaster was broken and they brought us a brand new toaster in about 10 minutes. We were provided beach towels and could easily turn them in for fresh towels whenever we needed. The Mauian also provided a good supply of free beach chairs easily accessible to the beach – no need to check them out – you just helped yourself and then returned them when you were done using them. We found the Mauian to be very quiet in the evenings and mornings, and we were there for 12 nights.People were so respectful and nice. There were NO parties, drunken revelers, loud children. I couldn't believe how calm and quiet it was. (I've experienced so many high-end hotels with blasting TVs in the next room, drunk people in the hallways laughing and yelling at 2am, etc). It is true there are no TVs. Certainly, some people really like having a TV and they would be better choosing a different resort. We personally did not care about TV. Each room also had air conditioning - we never needed to turn it on while we were there. We kept the plantation shutters open and had perfect room temperature. At night, the sound of the ocean waves put us right to sleep. Each morning, there is a free continental breakfast - variety of fresh fruit, a delicious bakery-made cinnamon bread, buns, bagels, and three juices which when mixed together create an island favorite called POG juice. Each room is equipped with a sturdy large tray to use if you prefer to bring your food back to your room to eat on your balcony or elsewhere on the grounds. We always ate our breakfast at one of the tables by the pool. We looked forward to that breakfast every morning - it was really good. On a practical note, restaurants are quite expensive in Maui. Having a continental breakfast rather than going out to breakfast save my husband and me about $50 a day. As for food, there is a very nice grocery store nearby, but be prepared for much higher prices than the mainland. We made a trip to Costco (their prices were the same as the mainland) and stocked our kitchen. We then relied on the grocery store for smaller runs. We used the grill on the property to make some dinners – also a big savings not to have to go to a restaurant every night. Also, a tip: buy sunscreen that protects the reefs–we learned that regular sunscreens kill the coral and hurts the ecosystem and Hawaii asks you not to use it while there.. The final thing I'd like to say is that everyone at the Mauian – other guests and staff – were so friendly and warm. In fact, the people of Maui as a whole were some of the nicest people I've encountered anywhere in my travels. We loved the island and our entire experience.…
I wanted to stay in a nice hotel on the beach where I could just stay there enjoying the room, amenities, restaurant, service—and maybe walk to neighboring resorts and town so I paid nearly $1400 for 3 nights at the Mauian “boutique” hotel. It was advertised as $299 per night but with resort fees and taxes it came to nearly $500 per night. And disappointed is the best word. First it was in an area that wasn’t close to any services. They didnt have a bar or a restaurant or a lobby…just a Mcdonalds like walk up window. It cost $110 to get there vua uber ir taxi from airport. Zero ambiance. There wasn’t even a tv or iron in the room! It reminded me of KOA campsite amenities but with rooms. The rooms were just ok. When asked where we can eat they directed us to a resort next door…who turned us away because we needed to be on a wait list. We asked the girl where we could eat because we didn’t rent a car. Our only option was to call uber eats!! As far as amenities—there was a shared tv room, vending machine and laundry (think koa). The pool was small but nice but closed at 8:30…really??? It was on the beach…a tiny beach. So the positives, it was in Maui. I strongly recommend you keep looking before booking here unless you can get the room at the Mauian for $200 as that’s the max its worth!!! A huge disappointment!!!…
The Mauian is labeled as a Boutique Hotel. What appeared to be boutique was two items vs other places. 1. No televisions and 2. Extremely thin wall construction. This place is extremely loud and noisy. The common conversation can be heard from your neighbor, both above and next door. I can't express enough how terrible this is, I didn't pay for a community summer camp experience. We had a family playing music, which I don't think it was on loud volume, it was likely normal, but it was so loud in our room...who wants that. This is located at a really beautiful low wave cove, great for snorkeling, etc. However the negatives are too large. The laundry services are locked up during the evening and early morning, so you have to waste your day doing a load of clothes, which is strange. Frankly, we lost up to 3 hours doing 2 loads of laundry...I was planning on doing this in the evening or early morning, but the Mauian didn't allow as it has a locked door on the corridor to the area. The laundry is in a hallway but it has a door that locks their breakfast preparation area and further a door for housekeeping. When you arrive, all the guests are sitting on their patio and it was a bit awkward. Very campy feel. I can't imagine staying here for a night of bliss due to the walls having likely no insulation. You would give the neighbors a show for sure, as there is no TV. The main reason I booked this for a few nights was the feeling I had was a local motel/hotel, and ability to do some laundry towards the end of our trip. Meh..it did give me a reason to look up the other properties around this property. We did have some issues with the mattress, it was very uncomfortable and of all the places, we had the worst sleep at this place. The kitchenette is a nice twist, with a full size fridge, however the layout is very tight and I can't see anyone staying here and making dinner beyond sandwiches. Parking - very tight - not many spots and it gave me much stress that we would have a spot when we returned from town. Frankly, the stress of it was a major issue during our stay. I did not want to park a rental car on a street - get it towed, or damaged or broken into, etc....I shouldn't have to worry on it. The pool was tiny, but I think it is decent if you have little kids. Otherwise, you are at the ocean. They did have a public sit down in their outdoor cabana and indoor room for groups to play a evening of cards or enjoy their coffee. Breakfast, I saw coffee, 3 juice types and two variations of bread and a bagel. The bagel was not exactly fresh and my kid said it was bad and spit it out. The positives: the scenery is great, the housekeeping and landscapers were friendly, and they had their own security guard, which was easy to identify with a t-shirt that was labeled 'security'. What needs to be done, full remodel - insulation the walls and ceiling. I did like the location and the idea of it, it just was not executed correctly for what it is. Will we be back to area, yes. To this property, no.…
