I have stayed at a lot of resorts all over the islands of Hawaii. This is not a new resort but everything was updated and in great shape. The room was very comfortable and clean. They have a swimming pool, hot tub, shuffle board, tennis courts and a short walk to the beach. My party is slightly handicapped and there were amenities to help them get around as well. Its close to shopping and restaurants.Really enjoyed my stay. Mahalo
We used the timeshare of a friend in January 2020 to stay at this resort. It has been nicely updated. Our second floor room had a smallish balcony (more than adequate for dinner / breakfast for two) which overlooked the pool area and had a distant view of the ocean (yes! we saw many whales breaching). The unit was quiet - except for a few noises of moving furniture from above - and we felt safe here. Parking was tight when we returned late at night but spots were always available. Although the resort is on the ocean side, there is a large green space with tennis / pickle ball courts between the shore and the resort. Each unit is stocked with beach chairs which were very handy to take to the beach and enjoy the sunset. We didn't swim in the ocean here as it was noted to not be a "swimming beach". The resort is located at the North end of Kihei but only a 5-10 drive to the commercial areas. The whale centre and a local market are just a few blocks North. Love that each unit has in-suite laundry facilities. We can't wait to return to Maui Schooner!…
Swapped our Spanish share for a week here.! It came up to all expectations in every way, very different to Europe but charming, fabulous views, facilities and people. Lots of great restaurants and nearby places of interest.
We took our son and his wife with us to the Maui Schooner. His wife had never been to Hawaii at all and she was thrilled. She loved Lahaina with all the shops and the Cheeseburger in Paradise! Our arrival was not great as one of our bags got misplaced at the airport. They changed carousels without any warning and some of the bags got lumped in with another flight. Fortunately they located the bag. They have a new system for getting passengers to the rental cars. A small train runs from the arrival area to a new location in which the rental cars are all located. No more shuttle buses. One of the best funky little restaurants is the Tiki Lounge at Kalama Center. Really laid back and good food to boot. We attended a luau at the Grand Wailea which was very good other than the fact that there were to supposed to be leis included in the package but it didn't happen. A small item but annoying nevertheless. Weather was warm but very windy for a few days. No rain though. All in all, a nice visit.…
The Maui Schooner is on the north end of South Kihei Road. The resort location is not really walking distance to the many nice beaches in Kihei. The beach in front of the resort is a nice small bit of sand but the shallow rocky ocean waters in front of the resort is not really swimmer friendly. This beach area is a fantastic place to see the sunset. Between the resort and the ocean is a nice park with tennis courts. Every morning people play pickle ball hosted by the Kihei parks and recreation dept. There is yoga on the lawn in the mornings . Even though this area is a public park it feels like part of the resorts. We had a one bedroom condo on the second floor with a bit of a view of the ocean. Our unit was spacious and very nice. The bedroom had a comfortable king bed , tv , usual bedroom furniture and a safe in the closet. The kitchen was full size and had everything we needed including a rice cooker. The living room has a comfortable couch and usual furnishings. The living room tv is a smart tv and with the internet in the room we were able to stream netflix and you tube. The cable has channel on demand so you can watch many shows you might miss. There is also a dvd player. There is a washer and dryer. Unexpectedly, there was four Tommy Bahama beach chairs and an ice chest in one of the closets which we used almost every day. Overall, the condo is very nice. There is a mini split air conditioner cooling both the bedroom and living room that is quite and works very fast to cool the rooms. We used the ceiling fans for the most part. The resort grounds are very nice with landscaping that includes flowering trees, flowering plants and trees. The lawn is like a golf course green. The swimming pool is on the small end and so is the hot tub. This seems good for meeting other guests, especially the hot tub. There are three bbq's and multiple table and chairs in the pool area. This is a very clean and maintained area. The resort staff is fantastic. In the office they have many things to make your stay enjoyable. There is a concierge that can arrange activities, dvd's, shuffle board equipment, pickel ball equipment , probably horse shoes and beach umbrellas. Parking is easy. I really enjoyed staying here.
