Nice hotel and excellent staff. Pricey. We were disappointed with the quality of the room: paint blistering on walls and window louvers. The bathroom counter looked as if people had been rebuilding car engines on it and failed to clean up the grease. Lavatory and toilet needed work and repainting.
We stayed 9 nights in Hawaii and tried three locations, including a big-named five-star hotel in Maui. Hana-Maui was more secluded than either of the other two resorts, with the best views of any other location we stayed. You give up a little of the up-scale frills, but it’s very much worth it, to enjoy the best views from a room and the interesting town of Hana. You really get a great experience with the farmer’s market, food trucks with a wide selection, spa, and better cultural experience than most places. We will probably not return to the other big name resorts, but we almost assuredly will return to Hana Maui Resort.
No A/C, but we arrived in January, so it wasn’t an issue. Plenty of air movement with fans and cross breeze. We were told the pools were heated. I doubt it. Another gal mentioned the pools were 84 degrees that day. LOL! Had breakfast one morning at restaurant. Eggs, meat and potatoes, but 2 pieces of white toast was $4 extra??? Resort was very spread out and quiet.
Hana Maui is a magical place free from the distractions of the “real world.” The ocean bungalows are incredible from the stars at night (we saw the southern cross, typically only visible in the Southern Hemisphere) and the big island of Hawaii all from our room. The staff and service were great. It’s not your standard resort of West Maui and that was our favorite part.
Gorgeous grounds and absolute serenity. We loved the pool area with the hammocks. Sitting in the lounge chairs by the ocean was bliss! Complete relaxation!! The room was large. Shower and tub were awesome!
