If you don't mind staying a place that is not really located near anything (except Dave's Coffee Shack), this is a good deal. WAY cheaper than the big resorts on the water. On this trip to the big island, we kind of worked our way...More
This was my first time staying here, although I'd heard about it for many years! I don't know what took me so long.
My husband had business so I tagged along for some R and R, and this was the place to get it! I...More
The place was your average run of the mill timeshare/ condo unit. Do not wander too far out of the backdoor or you will be on private golf course property and they have no problem telling you to get out. Units/Rooms are nice and the...More
This hotel was excellent! You get your own little condo at a great price. We were on the second floor and our balcony (which had nice patio furniture) faced the golf course so we had breakfast out there every morning. We had two levels. The...More
We have stayed at Paniolo Greens few times and absolutely love the place.
Nicely maintained. Staff is very helpful, units are clean and everything in the kitchen is fully functional. We like the units facing the golf course, although it can be very windy at...More

We were just there in early May, and I suggest that you be careful when you rent a car that you don't fall victim to a "bait and switch" scheme. we had reserved a car from Dollar, was told upon arrival that we were being given a 6 person van rather than the economy car we had reserved, and it would require a $25/day upgrade fee, more than doubling our costs. Luckily we were able to go on line with our phones, and found an available car at another agency (Budget) for what our original cost was, and all we had to do was walk across the street.. Just be aware.

The big nightlife center would likely be Kona about 40 minutes away. There are also some very upscale resorts & condos about 15-30 minutes away in & around the Hilton Waiakoloa so I would expect some great options there. We did not seek out what may be just up the road in terms of various restaurants. After touring or a day at the beach we enjoyed coming back to the peaceful setting.
