We traveled to the big Island of hawaii and stayed here for 6 days. The hotel itself is clean and wonderful. Well located and comfortable, the pool area is great. The only thing is that the beach is across the little pond and there are no chairs on the beach. We had to rent cabanas by the local company on the beach and they just have a few and its expensive to do so for a family of 2. We also did a pass from this local company for rentals of equipment like kayaks and paddle boards and they close at 4 and if its high tide they don't allow you to go out, so not the best utilization.. The service at the poolside restaurant was extremely slow and the food average..
We had the pleasure to spend a few night here and ...wow!! Beautiful! Right in the beach on the sunny (less windy side of the island ) centrally located to do a lot! Tour the volcano, whale watching trip or just relax on the beautiful beach ! Beautiful pool area too !! Yummy tropical drinks too !
The resort is beautiful with sandy beaches, large rooms, good food and great pools. The main things that would bring me back to this resort are beautiful views and beautiful sunsets; plenty of shopping and restaurants within walking distance; relatively quiet; great places to walk and bike and a moderate size facility. You could stay here for several days without needing a car. However, there are a lot of activities and beaches within a 30 minute drive. You could easily stay a week and just do a sampling of the activities available.
We booked our stay as MVC timeshare owners, we are also Titanium Elite Bonvoy members. We booked an ocean view one bedroom when using our points. The MVC building on this property was clearly wide open during our stay. We were given a 6th floor (highest) room but were put in a room next to elevator and in a corner where our lanais looked right into the building on our right. We could not see the ocean from our living room sofa and chairs. The elevator noise from our bedroom was loud. We are President level MVC owners and don't understand our room asignment. That being said we love the property and grounds and A Bay. I would give this property a 5 star if the room would have been reasonable. If you are a MVC timeshare owner and stay here, make sure you get the room you deserve.…
My husband and I stayed in a one bedroom one bath room for 5 nights. We have stayed at many Marriott timeshares over the years and own weeks and points. This resort is a little different than others because it is connected to a Marriott hotel and so all the facilities are shared. That said, the pools and hot tubs were never crowded and the beach wasn't either. Plus, there were fewer kids running around than at other Marriott timeshare resorts. Not sure if they even have a kids club. The did have outdoor gas grills, a nice outside fire pit, and our unit had 2 small balconies. We also had a large kitchen, but no oven or stovetop. That's because this used to be a hotel, and when Marriott turned it into condo units they couldn't get permission to put in ovens and stoves. At least, that is what we were told. But there is a large 'fridge, microwave, dishwasher and washer and dryer. And you can cook on the grills if you want to eat in. We had a car, so we drove all over and ate at places that were not close by. I can highly recommend the weekly luau. Best one I have ever been to. Open bar helps, haha! Entertainment was classy, food was good and we had a great time. Well worth the money.…
