The Haleakala Room at the Lodge was actually a small octagon shaped cabin with glass on about six sides. The rather thick tropical trees grew to within a few feet of the glass. We had a small porch on the back with two rocking chairs that would have been lovely to sit on when it was raining. The kitchenette and bathroom are adequate, and the heater in the room very nice as it gets cold at night in this part of Hawaii. The entrance to Volcano National Park was only about a mile away, and there were several restaurants close by that were open even in Covid times. Our nice breakfast was left in the refrigerator for us each night for us to heat up in the microwave in the morning. Unfortunately we never saw any of the staff, but we were well cared for.
We loved our stay at Volcano Village Lodge! Nice, well-kept, private accommodations surrounded by beautiful rainforest. The setting was romantic and the ambiance was added to by the room and property amenities, including plush robes, breakfast nook, rocking chair, and hot tub. The innkeeper, Pua, was friendly, kind, helpful, and informative. The proximity to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was excellent - only about 2 miles away. Our only regret was that we didn't stay here longer!
My wife and I stayed here on a trip to the Big Island. The location is amazing - so remote and peaceful, yet very close to Volcanoes National Park. Our room was beautiful and was surrounded by huge windows that looked out on the lush rain forest. Our hostess was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast (which we ate in our room) was delicious.
The Kilauea room was lovely, actually the entire lodge is lovely. We had the most amazing time and were sad to leave. The fire was cozy, the breakfasts were yummy. I loved having comfy robes and slippers to laze around in. Fun movie selection! This was so peaceful. Pua was maybe the nicest person ever. We will be back as soon as possible.
This was such a nice stay. Pua is incredibly kind with wonderful, positive energy. When you book you can specify whether you have any dietary restrictions or lifestyles and she accomodates, leaving breakfast in the refrigerator each night for you to warm up and eat the next day. I am vegan and for our two night stay we had a veggie and tofu scramble one morning and vegan macadamia nut pancakes the next. Plenty of fresh fruit and local coffee included. The hotel grounds were magical. We hope to come back.
