Close to everything. The Forest House was our home away from home. If you're looking for peace and solitude - this is the place! Loved the rainforest view from all of our windows! The hike to the crater was awesome!

What a place-a group of cottages of various sizes right in the middle of a rainforest. We stayed in the Sanctuary, a japanese style cottage with outdoor shower and hot soaking tub. The cottage was quiet and lovely-well equipped with coffee pot and a provided food basket. The retreat was close to the little town so easy to get supplies,...

Just when we thought we'd stayed in some amazing accommodation after extensively travelling the world, "Volcano Rainforest Retreat" was an unexpected gem located on the Big Island of Hawaii. With only 4 bungalow style private cottages nestled in a lush rainforest, we were able to explore the active Volcano and quaint village atmosphere from this unique location. Much to our...

We had an amazing time at the volcano rainforest retreat. Our cabin was perfect, the neighborhood was great for running, and we were a stone's throw away from Volcano National Park. We loved the morning breakfasts and all the tips we got for the best trails and restaurants in the area. We definitely recommend going here and we will be...

June 2016 my daughter and I took my granddaughter on a trip. We found the Volcano Rainforest Retreat by chance on line. It was perfect! Every aspect of the facility inside and out was beautiful. The owners were very warm and welcoming. They provided a continental breakfast which was delicious. Everything i could think of was already provided. I would...

We stayed three nights at the VRR, renting the Bamboo cottage and another cottage for our three teenagers. VRR is a wonderful place to stay - Peter and Kathleen are welcoming and gracious hosts and the cottages are sublime. After a hot day out and about in Volcano National Park, there isn't much better than returning to the cottages for...

We traveled to the Big Island as a family (2 adults, 2 teenage girls) and sought out this lovely place as an alternative to sterile big box hotel accommodations. We are staying in the Cottage, which can accommodate 4. We have a queen size bed in a loft area, which requires climbing a steep but sturdy ladder. Other cabins have...
