We had a pleasant 2 night stay in the Garden Suite while exploring the Puna District. Petra is a wonderful and accommodating host and took time to recommend lava boat tours, Pahoa restaurants, and other area sites, as well as providing general information about this unique part of the Big Island. We did have a great lava boat experience, enjoyed...

Our first time in a bnb and we enjoyed every minute of it including the nightly choruses of the coqui frogs. We stayed on the ground floor one bedroom and it had all the amenities expected. Location is excellent! The daily breakfast made by Petra was superb! The grounds was tranquil, and laid back. We felt very safe and comfortable...

We stayed in the Lanai Suite with our two teenage boys. The suite was spaciaous and clean, the gardens were supurb. The breakfast quich was excellent. Petra sat down with us and gave us detailed maps and helped plan the day. This location is very close to the lava viewing. We recomend doing the bike and shuttle without a guide....

We booked the Lanai suite for our family of 5. It was the perfect layout for our needs. The kitchenette was a nice bonus. The location to the beaches and in particular, the lava tour boat launch was a huge bonus. Hale Moana is definitely away from the town so you benefit from the tranquility but are still close enough...

We decided to try a B&B for 1 of our 2 weeks to get a more local take on this side of the Big Island and were more than happy we did. First of all we really enjoyed and appreciated all the help and kindness we received from our host Petra. She is an absolute expert on the area having...

My husband and I had a lovely seven night stay in the Pualani suite. If you stay seven nights the seventh night was free. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts every morning which varied from day to day. Our room was very clean with a large closet and plenty of room to store our belongings. Our hostess Petra was very helpful in...

Our family of 4 stayed at Hale Moana 4 nights. The location is in an isolated, peaceful area, 10-15 minute drive from Pahoa and several east-side attractions. This is a great place to get away from the resorts and tourists. Petra was so welcoming and the breakfasts were fantastic, especially the fresh fruit.

Our 2 day stay was OK. We stayed in the Makamae Studio, which was located next to the breakfast room. In fact ... the window of our bathroom was situated in the breakfastroom, which we did not like. At arrival, we were welcomed by Petra, although she was very friendly it was obvious that she was stressed and in a...

We loved staying at Hale Moana B&B. We originally chose it because it's a very convenient place to stay when booking the early morning Lava Boat tour, just 10 minutes from the launch place, but we would definitely stay there again when traveling in the area. It's not too far from Hilo or Volcano National Park, and it's a great...
