I had to travel to Hawaiian Paradise Park on business and thought why not stay right in the neighborhood. Ala Kai B&B's well-deserved high ratings on tripadvisor clinched the deal. Mary and Pat were very accommodating. The location is beautiful....about 400 feet from the ocean...close but not too close. I stayed in the aptly named Bamboo Room. Lots of little...

My niece and I stayed in the bamboo room while visiting the Volcano and Hilo area. Mary and Pat are warm and hospitable, and they made us wonderful breakfasts each morning with different items such as eggs, portuguese sausage, french toast stuffed with mac nuts and bananas, plus juice and coffee. We LOVED the bamboo room. It was adorable and...

I spent 7 days at AL-Kai B&B as my base for exploring the big island. The warm, gracious and friendly hospitality of the hosts May & Pat was outstanding. I enjoyed every minute there - and was even soothed by the "infamous" coqui chorus! I thought they were birds ;-)) No details are missed by Mary and Pat such as...

My husband and I had a lovely stay at Ala Kai - very comfortable room with a wonderful large shower and a number of thoughtful touches (even a fully equipped picnic basket, which we regretted not having time to use!). The hosts are gracious and welcoming; breakfast is quite substantial and served on a lovely lanai looking over the water;...

If you are lucky enough to be able to stay at the Ala Kai, you are are indeed fortunate. Mary & Pat couldn't be more gracious hostesses. The B&B is well maintained and is located in sight of the ocean. The rooms are large and in excellent shape. This B&B is a great value and I personally recommend it very...

This was our second stay in the cottage and third stay at Ala Kai. We stayed for 18 nights this time and Pat and Mary made us very welcome, nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts on the Lanai are a very memorable part of our stay, as are the evening wine, cheese and biscuits as we watch the evening...

This was a quiet place to enjoy the sound and action of the ocean just stone's throw away (or sounds of the creatures at night). Beautiful view from lanai where we enjoyed nice breakfasts of an egg dish, breads, yogurt, local fruit and coffee. Hostesses Pat and Mary are welcoming and helpful but not in your way. It is a...

Although it's been a couple of years since we last stayed at the Ala Kai Bed & Breakfast, I will rate it at the all time top of my favorite places to stay. The hosts thoroughly enjoy helping their guests relax on the wrap around porch or around the pool side and who can fault the mouth watering gourmet breakfasts...

If you're looking for a "home away from home," you certainly hit the jackpot when you choose Ala Kai! We visited for a week at the end of March, staying 4 nights in the cottage and 3 nights in the Aloha combo room (main level of the house). The cottage was roomy with 2 bedrooms (1 king, 1 queen) full...
