We had a zipline tour at Akaka falls and wanted stay close by. We booked this placed because it was so close to Akaka falls. After reaching there, we were pleasantly surprised by this property. We were welcomed by the staff and treated with delicious...More
Beautiful property, great room and service. Well worth a look if you want to get out of the hustle and bustle on the island. You definitely need a car to get there and get around as there isn't much within walking distance.
We had a wonderful stay at Palms Cliff House. The views were breathtaking, staff friendly and breakfasts wonderful. Homonu is about 20 minutes from Hilo. Be sure to visit the Hawaii Botanical Gardens on the scenic route.
On,y regret....that we couldn't stay longer.
This place is gorgeous. The property is large and well maintained. The rooms are big and very comfortable. I would recommend getting an upstairs room if possible because they are air-conditioned. Expect rain on this side of the island - it is quite beautiful and...More

Congratulations - The Big Island (BI) is a great place visit and if you have the time drive around it. Each side is different and therefore interesting. Kahala, to the North (historic in early Hawaii and Kamehameha I). Hilo (closest to the Cliff House) is a jumping off side to the active volcano. Hilo is a locals version of Hawaii and if music is available you'll have to ask. When we were there in Feb. we went to see the lava flowing into the sea. First from the land (rented bikes and rode maybe 4 mi on gravel road to see "pearls" or red/orange glowing spots across the flow and then took a boat out the next day to see a huge spout dumping lava into the sea. Very impressive! Night shows may only be found on the Kona side. Driving around through Volcano Nat'l Park, South Point, into Kona, Waimea, and back to The Cliff House. BI is a great island to visit, develop special memories, and "kick off" a long life together. This is just scratching the surface but hope it shows you both there's a fun time to be had. Enjoy and Again Congratulations!!
