Felt at home. Squeaky clean, beautifully decorated, accommodating host, organic soap and shampoo, organic home made from scratch breakfast e.g. the almond cake smelled so good and it melted in your month... Great price! I can’t think of anything else to ask for.
In roughly ascending order of import: Great house. When sugar was booming, it was a manager's house. Lovely first growth wood, and a genuine Hawaiian feel. And love the deck and how she expanded it. And an incredible tree frog chorus at night. Awesome food. Much of it comes from her garden and her Vitamix and such. We had delicious pancakes and popovers. Friendly and charming hostess. Whether it's the secret ingredient in the eggs or temple walks in Japan, we enjoyed our conversations. Two notes: Yes, in these days of Covid, think masks. I hope this comment seems dated in a couple years! And if your bikers like us, it gets dark early, and though the road has a great shoulder, bring a headlamp.
I had been planning a bike tour around the island for a group of 10 local residents and then COVID-19 happened. Jacqueline worked with me multiple times to help with scheduling and finding dining places and other B&B's on our route. Everything worked out perfectly. Tired and hungry on our arrival, we were greeted with fresh home made brownies. Breakfast in the morning was a special delight with her ample and tasty offerings. I tasted Dragon Fruit for the first time and bought some I soon as I got back home. Her attention to COVID-19 precautions was impressive. Of course the property and furnishings as described in other reviews make this B&B top notch.
We booked this place fairly last minute as a place to be close to the hike we wanted to do the next days. Jacque was a amazing with her knowledge of the hikes and the area and she offered hiking poles if needed as well as allowed up to keep our extra gear for the 2 days we would be up the valley to not have to worry about theft from out car. The place is older but well kept. We only really had one Breakfast as we left early our 2nd day, but what we had was great. A knowledgeable host is a priceless gift. That alone makes the stay worth it!
The weather was pretty bad while we were there so it may be reflected in my review. Our host had no problem preparing a Gluten Free breakfast for us and actually all the other guests were also eating GF and didn’t even know it. Jacqueline is a very good cook. The room needs another chair and a clock. Our door blew open twice while we were out and it was very chilly in our room. There is no cell service there. But the internet worked well. Good location, some traffic noise, fair rates.
