My hubs and I had 2 nights booked at the Castle Hilo, however once we checked-in, we immediately checked-out. I agree with the other reviews, which says that the hotel is very old and how ! It's good value for what it offers, however I am very sensitive to smells and I would not have been able to spend the...

Dear Valued Guests: Aloha! Thank you for your review of our hotel. I am sorry to have failed in meeting your expectations. We are in the process of refreshing our hotel. After working on our foyer, meeting rooms, restrooms, restaurant and lounge, we are currently working on our guest rooms and corridors. This phase should be completed by the end...

We stayed in a delux room at the hotel overlooking the water.... the area was very quiet, and the views were extremely beautiful..... the service and staff were great.... the hotel provided a tour desk that was very helpful. The bar area was nice and friendly... the rooms were tidy and the beds were really nice... the only thing I...

The hotel has a fancy lobby... so you get very disappointed when you arrive in your room. Mine was decorated probably in the early 50's, and it smelled like mold. I bought some fresh fruit that I had to take to the trash 12 hours later, once it was full of mold... Terrible place to stay.... Just go there after...

Dear Valued Guests: Aloha! Thank you for your review of the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. Yes we are an older hotel but the youngest and most popular of the hotels on hotel row in East Hawaii. I do apologize to have failed in meeting your expectations. Our Owners have consented in renovating all of our guest rooms and corridors which will...

1960s hotel with a cool open plan lobby and architecture, very Elvis Presley. Its undergoing refurbishment, but my old style decorated room was clean and fine as long as you don't mind beige. Great location for Hilo, and wonderful view over coconut island. Breakfast was very good and bar served good cocktails, etc. The service at the hotel was fine....

We were at this hotel in March of this year during my husbands and my trip to Hawaii. I booked through an online agency because we wanted to spend some time in Hilo and in Volcano. If I could do it over, I would just go directly to Volcano and drive into Hilo. The hotel was ok for our needs,...

If you want a noisy hotel - stay at the Hilo Hawaiian. When I arrived there were all these kids running around and going through all the hallways in the name of some local middle school graduation. When I first call to make a reservation the front desk told me they could not do it. So...I had to call back...

Dear Valued Guests: Aloha! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I do apologize if we have failed in meeting your expectations. We are a very busy hotel which is often filled to capacity that provides accommodations to all. We do our best to please everyone but there are times where it is basically impossible. We do accommodate student...

A 1960s hotel undergoing its first renovation leaves much to be desired from a lodging standpoint, but it is in a perfect location. Formerly the Hilo Hawaiian, this is now Castle Hilo but the signs aren't up yet. Just enter at the Hilo Hawaiian sign. Good parking at the main door or covered underground. Excellent park nearby for an after...

We stayed at this hotel for three days in mid-April 2013. I’ll warn you ahead of time that this is a rather wordy review. I rely on TripAdvisor so much when making our travel plans, and I hope others will find this useful. So many reviews on TripAdvisor are subjective, and you have to consider the source, so here’s my...

This hotel is very nice looking from the lobby but the rooms are in terrible need of a remodel. Average service. The hotel is in the process of a renovation, but we were on the second floor and the rooms were clearly not updated. The photos look great, so the hotel might be very nice when completed. The view from...

I write this review as things stood when we visited but the hotel is undergoing refurbishment so some things will be better soon. The room was clean and comfy with air con and the view was lovely (Coconut Island). There was no fridge in the room which was a major negative point but I emailed Castle Resorts who have assured...
