OK, right off, this is a place I stayed at almost 10 years ago. Why am I writing a review? Because I still think about it all the time and hope for the day I can go back. The drive through farms and macadamia groves to get there was lovely. The view from my room was gorgeous. It's the grounds...

The Inn at Kulaniapia Falls 100 Kulaniapila Dr. Hilo, HI 96720 We were vacationing in Kona but decided to overnight in Hilo so we would have more time to learn about the volcano. We arrived at night to discover a tropical paradise on the outskirts of Hilo. The Inn is located at a higher elevation in a rain forest overlooking...

We spent our first two nights on the big island here. Arriving after dark from Kauai, we picked up our rental car and headed off to the inn, a bit concerned about its location out of the city. There was no need to worry - the directions to the property that were provided by the inn in advance were clear...

My wife and I stayed 2 nights and is the second time we have stayed at the Inn. Like most people, we went back because of the amazing view of the falls (which are great, especially on the deck at the main house). It's a bit pricey and for the price I would expect the rooms to be better looked...

Thank you for your generous rating given the content of your review. We are actively undertaking "trim and finish" work on all rooms, but it is a process. We have hired a finish carpenter to work their way through each of guest rooms, and clearly, they had not gotten to yours yet. That said, I believe I found your reservation...

I stayed two days and one night at the Falls and it was an awesome experience. The waterfall was an awesome backdrop when falling asleep at night. The pond and water fall were awesome to hang out and canoe in. I saw the instructors learning to repel the waterfall for future travelers and I wish I had to chance to...

Jose, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay, and so sorry we didn't have Kulaniapia Adventures fully operational in time for your trip. We are just finishing up staff training, operational procedures, and getting the insurance all in order (can you believe they require that?!?). We plan to go live for guests on April 1st, 2017. If you ever...

My wife & I visited the Big Island for two days when it was overcast & rained most of the time. However, the Inn was located in a beautiful tropical forest & macadamia orchard next to a wonderful waterfall which significantly reduced the impact of the bad weather. Our room featured lovely oriental furniture and a comfortable bed. The Inn...

This off the grid inn is a wonderful retreat to recharge your batteries. It is so secluded, and the grounds are beautiful. They serve an ample breakfast, and provide filtered water to fill your bottles. The staff is attentive and friendly.

It's probably a good idea to set some parameters before leaving a poor review. When things go poorly, there's a tendency to notice other little problems. The host was not around, so we suspect the mice were playing. Mostly, this negative review is based on the lack of value in our stay. In other words, if our two nights had...

I am so sorry we did not meet your expectations on this trip. While you are right that many people enjoy this room, I understand how when things start going down hill from a customer experience perspective, all the little things pile up, and I wish that it did not snowball as it appears to have for you. I have...

Our stay at the Inn was magical.  The service was fantastic and the staff were very affable and engaging.  The staff (Awanna, Jasmine and Chelsea) and were incredibly helpful. They were exceptional hosts and they made us feel at home at the Inn. We would enjoyed staying there longer. Anyone who enjoys enjoy tranquillity and serenity, this is the place...

The hotels accommodations, from the breakfast to the rooms, were mediocre at best. That's said, the private access to the falls is an amazing benefit and for some people will be worth the stay. About the falls: it's a 120 ft waterfall with private access only available to people staying at the inn. It can be accessed via a short...

Aloha and thank you for your honest review. Kulaniapia is a very special place and we are honored to share it with guests from around the world. We are situated in Hilo, up a 4 mile private road leading to the Inn. The road takes about 15 mins to drive, which gives the sense of being away from town, but...
