This is the best Bed and Breakfast I have been too, and I would choose this over the big hotels in the area. Each room has its unique gorgeous decor, and a lanai to sit out and sip your glass of wine (or cup of tea). The breakfast by Mathew is absolutely delicious with fruits from their farm, home cooked...

We stayed overnight and had the best breakfast in the morning. Mathew was a charming host and prepared the best cinnamon coconut bread we have ever had. The porch was nice and it was fun to visit with fellow travelers during breakfast.

We loved the Michener room at Hilo Bay Hale, it was perfect, and had a great lanai from which you could feed the koi! The coffee was strong, the breakfast tasty, and the staff (we met Carolina and Matthew) were delightful, friendly, and super helpful. The house is old and quaint but very clean and well kept. Look for the...

You are going to love staying in this charming B&B near Hilo Bay and historic downtown. The owners go out of their way to help you feel right at home and comfortable between your daily adventures. We spent 3 nights here after spending 5 in Kona. Wish we would have allocated more time to Hilo as there's plenty to do,...

The building is historic and full of charm. It is beautifully maintained. You can feel the love that Matthew and Dan have put into upgrading this piece of history My room was comfortable with nice airflow. It was centrally located in Hilo . Thank you so much for a lovely visit

This lovely old house close to the town centre is evocative of old Hawai’i, with the (rather loud) birds and frogs around the pond below the veranda and the mandatory ceiling fan. Book into the James Michener room and spend a lazy day (ha ha) reading one of the copies of “Hawaii” provided.

My husband and I visited this B&B in November 2016, but had booked everything around April/May 2016 (I'm a planner!). E-mailing with Matthew months in advance was easy - he answered all of my questions and made it very easy to book everything so far in advance. We arrived earlier than the normal check-in time, and although the room wasn't...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at Hilo Bay Hale B&B. The breakfasts were amazing. Our room had an adjacent patio where we spent our mornings and evenings. We preferred our solitude over joining other guests. The room was clean and comfortable. Matthew was so knowledgeable about where to go. We loved hiking out to the volcano best, though snorkeling...

We very much enjoyed our two night stay. Thanks to Matthew and Danny for all their renovations and work to make this place such a delight to stay in. And, good luck with the National Historic Register listing process! Loved Matthew's collectibles and antiques, brought me back to my grandmother's home in the best way possible. We stayed in the...

I loved my 2 night stay here over Thanksgiving. Honestly, if you haven't been to Hilo before, when you drive up to the building you're wondering, huh, is this really the place? But don't let that deter you. The location is actually perfect. The hosts are amazing and so accommodating. The breakfast is to die for. My room was very...
