I am giving this place a very good rating not just for the basic and comfortable accommodation, but also the feeling that it was a locally owned business that I prefer to support over large chain hotels. We had a double queen room, and they brought in a third bed for my son who stayed with us for a couple...

was much nicer than we thought it would be. Beautiful pool and the landscaping was gorgeous. Wonderful large koi pond. Nice restaurant attached. The rooms were small, but very clean and well kept up. Had a refrigerator, coffee pot, hair dryer, iron and board. Nice and clean laundry room. Wifi was OK, but a little slow. Staff was very friendly...

....this is the way Hawaii used to be...this place is old time....love it...comfy...friendly gals at the front desk....clean & basic/fridge in room...nice pool area...koi pond right outside. Near Hilo Airport & flight path for landing is near which is kind of exciting to watch/hear the planes go by! Coqui frogs not too noisy. Restaurant & bar/lounge inside hotel that are...

Our room was oceanside. Nice view of pond, palm trees and ocean. The fresh breezes were very nice. Friendly, laid back service with aloha. Coconuts Grill was also good and convenient. Popular with Kama'aina but also visitors from all over.

This review may be fueled by fond memories from staying here as a child but I enjoyed this quiet low-key hotel. I acknowledge up front that no, it's not modern nor does it have the usual gadgets + amenities that the upgraded hotels have. Sure, the pool isn't a massive one with embellished designs on the bottom or waterslides. I...

We only stayed for one night to visit sites on the Hilo side of the island. While it's a very dated hotel, it's staffed with very friendly people and is very clean. It has an old Hawaiian feel to it. The grounds are very well maintained. There is also a pool with lounge chairs and a small sitting area under...

The grounds of this hotel are beautiful with a HUGE koi pond and lovely lush gardens outside the rooms of each wing of the hotel. The room seemed a bit small but probably because we got 2 double beds instead of the king bed we had requested. The bathroom is small with a shower only, no tub and a small...

This is an older hotel with low rates which is 5 minutes to the airport. Nice people at the reservation desk and clean sheets after a long day. If you're planning a longer stay and want a budget hotel, this is the place but you have to get in early for a parking place. Its first come first serve. For...

Hilo Seaside Hotel is part of the only Hawaiian-owned hotel chain in the world. Force yourself to slow down, step back in time and soak in the Aloha Spirit. Rooms are dated, but extremely clean and well-maintained. A free museum just off the lobby is filled with Hilo and Hawaiian memorabilia. We spent a lot of time relaxing on our...

Our hotel choice on the Big Island - the locally owned Seaside Hotels, in Kona and in Hilo. Why? Always friendly staff and in the good old Hawai'ian fashion. Clean but nothing fancy rooms at an average price range. Both located very centrally to points of interests. Some special notes on this location: Very close to the Hilo Airport. No...
