Seems very much a plantation home. Right off the "main drag" in Hawi, but feels secluded. We were in an upstairs room with a king bed and claw-foot bathtub/shower - use care getting in & out!. We were introduced to the grounds, house, and our room by Desiree's Mom who was doing some housekeeping there. She gave a good tour,... More

This was our first time on the big island and due to it's slightly larger size we decided to split our time up and stay in the North, East and South to make it easier to visit everywhere. We were in Hilo for 3 nights and had plans to visit the beaches but when we arrived in this beautiful house... More

When I saw the great Groupon for this B&B, I jumped at the chance to stay on the north shore of the Big Island for three nights. What a wonderful surprise to see that the historic building and grounds were immaculately kept. The room was spacious and comfortable--I wasn't sure about the lack of a fan to counter the tropical... My girlfriend and I stayed here for a week on a return trip to Hawaii. I used to live on the Big Island and Hawi has always been my favorite area there. A few things one should note before considering a stay in Hawi is that it is truly remote - at least an hour from Kona and probably closer... More

We got a great deal on Groupon to spend three nights in the Hawi Plantation house, we were so excited about the stay we added an extra day on to it too. We have just finished our visit. The property and building have a phenomenal history in the town and a full rich tapestry of story to weave and charm... More

We are snowbirds who live on the Big Island south of Kona for four to six months of each year. We decided to take a "staycation" and having read about the Plantation House in both the local paper and Trip Advisor reviews, we chose it. What a smart move! The huge house was built in the 1800's for the manager... More

My husband and I stayed here at beginning of April. The house and grounds are beautiful and Terra and Suzie could not have been more welcoming. The room was gorgeous and the bed was very comfortable. The surroundings are really peaceful, just the sounds of the wind in the huge bamboo and the other trees in the garden. Terra and... More

Family style in elegance! Wow, I loved the welcoming staff and service. Well-worth the stay - very close to all the attractions. The most comfortable home feel. I would highly recommend anyone who is a couple or a family to stay here.

Yes...we've already decided we need to come back for another visit! Don't even know where to start my review. Exquisitely remodeled old plantation house and grounds. Comfortable accommodation and great breakfast from Tara and her mother. Within a block walking of the only couple places you need to eat or drink. Tara has some good local advise on some walks... Tara and her mother, Suzie, operate this very special place. They are very accommodating and especially welcoming. What is more, Suzie lived in this home for three years and knows the history of the property. This is a sugar plantation home built by a grower in the late-1800's, and has been been restored to its former glory. There are large... More

The Hawi Mill also know as Hoea Mill was absorbed by the Kohala Sugar Co. in the 1950′s and was closed in 1973.
