Amazing location on the coast. Sea, sand dunes and pine trees. Went for a great walk with my pooch then checked in. Guests have use of the drawing room, with complementary port, whisky and brandy. Fire and the Sunday times ended a perfect day. Staff were super, room was excellent, with doggy bed and bag of treats.... And a stick...

We visited the Victoria over the Christmas period with friends for breakfast before taking a very long walk along the beach at Holkham. The Victoria is in lovely grounds with a superb garden for children which would definitely make me return in the summer. We opted for a fried breakfast which at just over £9 (not including a drink) I...

Beautiful buildings, very tastefully decorated (they must be keeping Farrow & Ball in business!), friendly yet efficient staff and lovely food. Very laid-back atmosphere (plenty of well-behaved children and dogs milling around the lounge areas). The price of the room includes parking for the beach. The downsides? Not cheap at all. Also, although the hotel offers free wifi, because of...

Had Sunday lunch and the beef was tender which was good for topside as it can be tough. Children's food was good too. The pub is well decorated and the prices are fair for the food. The service lets this place down though. To start with it was good...we were shown quickly to the table and order taken. But when...

This picturesque inn is in a beautiful setting with lovely views from the conservatory. The quality of the food was a high standard. The staff were friendly and provided excellent service. They allowed dogs which was nice. Highly recommend the roast beef-delicious!

The interior makes this an appealing place for a pint and some pub food. Prices are reasonable so expectations don't need to be to high. However when we visited I had by far the most appalling fish and chips I've ever eaten. The fish was so over cooked it was actually not possible to distinguish what it was. Im pretty...

Have just returned from a luxurious stay atThe Victoria having indulged in the New Year Package. Stayed in the Ancient House in a large family room with separate lounge as there were 2 couples in our group and we wanted somewhere to relax together away from the hustle and bustle. What a wonderful experience, the Ancient House is a recent...

Stayed in the ancient house didn't have a lot of choice if rooms as there was only two left but the room was great. The whole stay was faultless the food, the staff, the spotless room, everything would definitely do...

We stayed in a room in the 'Ancient House' which was warm, very tastefully decorated and well .equipped. Good location near to Holkham Beach and a pleasant 2 mile walk through the sand dunes and pine trees to Wells next the sea.

Popped in to this restaurant for a light lunch after a long walk on Holkham beach and round through Wells nest the sea. We had worked up a good appetite. The service was very friendly and good and we were give a nice table for five in the conservatory. The menu covers breakfast, lunch and dinner and is quite short...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Standing at the gateway to Holkham and the National Nature Reserve, The Victoria is a classic English inn owned by the Coke family and managed by the Holkham Estate. There are ten elegant, indivually designed and stylish bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. We are ready to welcome more guests in spring 2015 with the addition of a further ten bedrooms just across the road from The Victoria in one of the oldest buildings on the Holkham Estate: Ancient House. The building has been converted to provide ten additional bedrooms, including four spacious family room. The sympathetic refurbishment has retained many of the building's original features, combining authentic charm with luxurious modernity. The bar and dining rooms at The Vic offer a relaxed blend of style and comfort. We serve delicious locally sourced food, much of it grown and raised on the estate, with a bold emphasis on freshness, simplicity and value. Holkham has been a leading agricultural estate since the 1800's when Thomas William Coke bought the site and the young Queen Victoria elevated him to the peerage in recognition of his contribution to farming in 1837. The name of the proposed new inn must have been inevitable when it opened its doors in 1838. ... more   less
