It seems a metaphor that in the midst of a cinderblock corporate industrial complex there stands a forest of trees, flowers, deer and butterflies. And at the center of this glen is the Oaklawn Inn –a sprawling majestic Victorian house built in 1889 and lovingly maintained. There are plenty of places to stay in the Menomonie / Eau Claire /... I stayed at the Oaklawn Inn for 4 nights and never slept so well - didn't want to leave! The room was very nicely decorated and super clean, and had 3 windows (1 in the bathroom as well) so nice and bright. The bed was, well like I said I slept the best I have in a long time, so... More

I was referred to the Oaklawn Inn by another hotel in Menomonie that was booked. I'm glad it worked out the way it did. Maggie is one of the most friendly and gracious hosts I've ever met. The type of personalized service I received would be extremely difficult to match at a typical hotel. She offered me a much needed... More

Thank you for your kind words. It was my pleasure to be able help you find some of Menomonie's hidden jewels. So glad you were able tour the Mabel Tainter. I enjoyed our morning chats and hearing about your travel adventures. I'm always impressed by the curiosity that my guests have for going places and trying new things. More

My wife and I were in the area for a family wedding and were able to book all of the rooms for family members. The wedding was great but the opportunity to sit on the wonderful porch and catch up with family news was even better. The check in process was painless and our rooms were all very comfortable. Each... More

Thank you. There’s nothing more satisfying to me than hearing the sounds of good conversation and laughter coming from my porch on a warm summer night--proof that guests are having a good time together. You folks squeezed lots of fun into a short time. Hope you'll return. There’s more to explore. More

Everything was very nice at Oaklawn. Just some things indicated maintenance may be slipping. Water stain on the ceiling, spider webs on the inside of windows, that sort of thing. Breakfast was good. The room seemed clean. The bed was comfortable. All in all a nice stay.

Thank you for your comments. It is always good to see Oaklawn through someone else’s eyes. Perhaps I’ve been focusing too much of my attention on the exterior maintenance projects planned for this summer. As a matter of fact, I had just painted the guest entrance porch before you arrived. Last week, I had most of the windows in the... More
