I spent three nights at canoe bay as the weather would not let me leave. The dream cabin I stayed in was simply that. Great sound system, steam shower, super comfortable bed with down comforter and pillows. The view of the lake was fantastic. I...More
My wife and I came here to celebrate her birthday, and we stayed one night. From the moment we checked in, to the moment we left - every step to make our stay that much more memorable was done. From a tour of our room...More
We stayed at the Lakeside Cottage for 2 days. We loved beautiful scenery of winter Canoe Bay. We were very satisfied with the service and comfort that Canoe Bay offered and will definitely be back to see how beautiful it is in the summer!
The tranquility and privacy was just what we were looking for. My husband and I enjoyed the autumn colors and beautiful countryside on the drive to Canoe Bay. Any expectations we had in anticipation of our visit were exceeded! The accommodations and the staff were...More
This is the first review I've ever written for anything, but thought it was necessary based on our experience at Canoe Bay. We stayed on a Saturday night in October and chose a Lodge Room and added the anniversary package for our 5th wedding anniversary....More

Hi there! I'm happy to answer this for you. There is not a whole lot to do at Canoe Bay itself. If the weather is nice, you can swim, canoe, and kayak. There is a really nice library with a ton of books to peruse or borrow (I picked one up one the widow behind Veuve Cliquot Champagne) as well as an impressive range of DVDs. I brought fun bath stuff from Lush and had a mini "spa" afternoon after a picnic and a swim. There are also many miles of easy walking/hiking trails.
As for the area, Chetek doesn't seem to have a whole lot to offer. There are some antique stores in town, a few casual restaurants, and not a whole lot else. I enjoy old fashioned downtowns though so a stroll would be fun in my book. Chetek is probably more rustic than charming though.
My suggestion on your way down would be to stop at the Leinenkugel Brewery in Chippewa Falls for a tour and beer tasting. Canoe Bay is about 20/30 minutes North of Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls. If you go in the Fall, there are also lots of apple orchards in the area which are fun to visit.
Overall, Canoe Bay will probably be more about relaxing and enjoying the beautiful grounds, accommodations, and fine dining. I hope this helps!
