Fanes was the our second night stop whilst walking Alta Via 1. Like most of the rifugios in the Dolomites you can access this hut by car. This makes it popular and busy in the summer but also means it is lively, with cool people to talk to and lots of stuff going on. The beer and strudel are excellent,...

We were surprised at how well equipped and beautifully furnished this rifugio was, as we were expecting a basic hut. Rooms are quiet and comfortable with sinks; shared bathrooms and shower rooms are very clean and nice. The hike up was superb. Service was ok, Food prepared a la carte was basic- filling but not memorable. ie weinerschnitzel with fries....

This refuge was our second best refuge on all Alta via 1 (favourite one is Averau). We had a private room, which was perfect and very comfortable. We had a sink in the room, which is a great opportunity if you want to wash some clothes (there was no other in the others refuges that we have done). The food...

We lucked out and ended up with a very nice room - private bathroom with a comfortable double bed (the friends we were travelling with were in the room with two single beds). The rifugio is very nice, the food good and scenery just as beautiful as you'd imagine.

Great place, delicious food, friendly staff and very clean place. The setting was stunning and overall a very organised establishment! We slept in one of the dormitories, which was very well maintained and lovingly furnished!

Very relaxing Rifugio (hut) in the mountains. We were hiking from hut to hut with Holomites company (on their Best of Alt 1 Alt 2 guided trip). Fanes was the first hut we stayed in. Deck on second floor was terrific for reclining and reading! Food was fine and plentiful as wait staff kept coming with seconds....

Rifugio Fanes is a very comfortable hut: rooms and beds seem new, showers are great, and food is actually really good. However, in the end I don't give it the maximum score because it feels more like a (big) hotel instead a mountain hut.

I've been there for a night, i visited 2 more rifugio before on Dolomiti. It looked like a proper hotel, not like a mountain rifugio. We booked for a 1/2 pension but when we went there, the staff told us the the 1/2 pension it was just for people who stayed for more of 2/3 nights, so we paid a...

The strange owner was pretty impressed by himself and he forgets that he is the host; but his staff makes up for this - they were absolutely great! The lager was ok and facilities pretty small. Not the best, but ok. The location is really the best!
