We were surprised to see that The Commander's Beach House was right next to a small RV campground, but it turned out not to be a problem. The backyard lawn extends to a rocky beach with great views of the Sound. Beautiful flowers shield the...More
Jim and Gail are the most wonderful hosts! Our room was lovely and cozy too!
The porch is my favorite place to sit and rock, read, and to take a nap. The whole atmosphere at Commanders Beach House is perfect, the sound of the waves...More
We have been guests for at least five consecutive summers. And we will be back next year! The Oldroyds offer friendly, gracious hospitality--and imaginative and delicious breakfasts!--and are always helpful regarding the current Port Townsend scene. So we feel like family. It is always a...More
It's difficult to beat the sound of the waves, the distant ringing of a buoy bell, and a comfortable bed to lull you to sleep in Port Townsend. This great old house is situated about 10 yards from a sandy shore with a nice view...More
This place is like a home away from home for us! Jim and Gail, the owners, are the kindest, most accommodating individuals I think I've ever met. My daughter and I just wrapped up our second visit at the CBH and were sad to leave,...More

There is 1 very cozy bedroom on the main floor. I know because that is the room we stayed in. The bed was very comfortable but the room is tight. The bathroom is private for that room however it is outside the bedroom around the corner off the little back hallway. A little quirky but it is an old home modified as a B & B. The owners are super nice. If a person knows the clearance their whhelchair needs, it would be simple to measure widths of the hallway, around the bed, bath etc... The bathroom is also a narrow room but getting into the shower, I think was almost flush to the floor and I think they had safety handles. I think. There are a few steps to negotiate upon entering through the front door as well as their side porch. But I wouldn't think twice about calling and asking. The owners might be prepared to accommodate your need in ways I am not aware. It is truly a lovely, restful place to stay with a delicious breakfast for you the next morning. Definately worth it!
