China Beach Retreat is exactly that, a retreat from the hustling, bustling world. With expansive views of Bakers Bay and the mouth of the Columbia River, hydrotherapy, air-jet tubs in all rooms, the property is designed for relaxation. The main house has three guest rooms and the separate, stand-alone Audubon Cottage is appropriate for one couple. The house was built in 1908 and has floor-to-ceiling windows in the common area, showcasing a view of the Ilwaco fishing fleet coming and going. Wildlife is abundant--deer visit the yard frequently and Bakers Bay is teeming with waterfowl of many kinds. Great restaurants, pubs, museums and state parks are all within easy driving distance. Astoria, Oregon is just one-half hour away. No matter what the weather is doing, the view at China Beach Retreat captivates.

Everything was beautiful. The accommodations, the weather, and the warmth of our hosts that made our weekend stay perfect. The main house exudes light and warmth amidst beautiful antique furnishings and artwork, including handmade ceramics made by host and artist David Campiche.

We stayed here just one night. Our suite was beautifully appointed. The main area was filled with lovely hand crafted items and antiques. There is a view of the bay from every window. We saw a deer and fawn on the lawn outside our bedroom window. There are secluded areas

Thank you for your comments. We're glad you found your stay relaxing and enjoyable. I should mention that the stand-alone Audubon Cottage at China Beach Retreat has a flat-screen TV. There is a radio in the main house in the shared common area. Also, we have had the Wi-Fi serviced recently and it has functioned well since then. We hope you'll visit us again!

The word "retreat" is true. This is a beautifully appointed quiet place to commune with nature. No TV. Lots of games and puzzles if you wish to use them. And we had a doe and fawn visit every day. The bird life and watching the boats go in and out of Ilwaco and the mouth of the

Our stay here was peaceful and very comfortable. We had a lovely upstairs room in the main house with a large private bath. Stunning water view! The common rooms of kitchen and living room were open for use and looked out to same gorgeous view. We brought a snack for

Next to the water. Full of interesting art. Very clean. 3 bedrooms in main house plus a cottage. Lots of wildlife. Really enjoyed our stay. Had an evening fire pit. Full kitchen. There’s a dock to nowhere for looking at the scenery.

Thanks for your comments. I like that..."a dock to nowhere..." Years ago, they used to call the Astoria/Megler bridge that crosses the Columbia River from Oregon to Washington, "the bridge to nowhere." How wrong they were!

"First floor room is more private, and has its own door out onto the deck. Second floor rooms have a wonderful view out over the bay."
"All suites at China Beach retreat are waterfront with spectacular views. The Audubon House is by far the best for privacy and charm."
"really check out the room information on the net--each room is different and unique"
"Stayed in the Audubon Cottage, which is completely private. The adjacent China Beach cottage also looked nice."
"This is definitely for people who want solitude and beauty. It's very close to Ilwaco, Long Beach, and the attractions, but it's super calm and quiet once you get there. We loved it, but we are more for the peaceful vibe, so this was perfect!"
