We stayed here just one night. Our suite was beautifully appointed. The main area was filled with lovely hand crafted items and antiques. There is a view of the bay from every window. We saw a deer and fawn on the lawn outside our bedroom...More

Thank you for your comments. We're glad you found your stay relaxing and enjoyable. I should mention that the stand-alone Audubon Cottage at China Beach Retreat has a flat-screen TV. There is a radio in the main house in the shared common area. Also, we...More

The word "retreat" is true. This is a beautifully appointed quiet place to commune with nature. No TV. Lots of games and puzzles if you wish to use them. And we had a doe and fawn visit every day. The bird life and watching the...More

Our stay here was peaceful and very comfortable. We had a lovely upstairs room in the main house with a large private bath. Stunning water view! The common rooms of kitchen and living room were open for use and looked out to same gorgeous view....More

Next to the water. Full of interesting art. Very clean. 3 bedrooms in main house plus a cottage. Lots of wildlife. Really enjoyed our stay. Had an evening fire pit. Full kitchen. There’s a dock to nowhere for looking at the scenery.

Thanks for your comments. I like that..."a dock to nowhere..." Years ago, they used to call the Astoria/Megler bridge that crosses the Columbia River from Oregon to Washington, "the bridge to nowhere." How wrong they were!

My partner and I stayed at Audubon Cottage last month and found it surpassed our expectations. The pictures don't do it justice, since they cannot fully capture the beauty and peacefulness of both the landscape and home interior. The home itself is cozy and bright,...More

About
Description
China Beach Retreat is exactly that, a retreat from the hustling, bustling world. With expansive views of Bakers Bay and the mouth of the Columbia River, hydrotherapy, air-jet tubs in all rooms, the property More is designed for relaxation. The main house has three guest rooms and the separate, stand-alone Audubon Cottage is appropriate for one couple. The house was built in 1908 and has floor-to-ceiling windows in the common area, showcasing a view of the Ilwaco fishing fleet coming and going. Wildlife is abundant--deer visit the yard frequently and Bakers Bay is teeming with waterfowl of many kinds. Great restaurants, pubs, museums and state parks are all within easy driving distance. Astoria, Oregon is just one-half hour away. No matter what the weather is doing, the view at China Beach Retreat captivates. Less
