We can’t say enough about the weekend our family spent at the Lafayette Inn in early November 2022. Our whole family stayed at the Inn. We had a rehearsal dinner on Friday night that went seamlessly due to Alan’s staff. Alicia was a superb hostess and handled every part of the event. We had breakfast on Saturday morning, made to order which was delicious (tomato spinach feta omelet was a hit!). Sunday morning we had a wedding breakfast that was presented buffet style and was equally delicious (French toast was amazing). Thank you, Alan! You made our events and stay relaxing and delicious!

This is the best food we have had! The owners were so kind and hospitable. Wonderful views and quaint historic rooms with modern conveniences made this a very pleasant stay for this weekend. Also had our rehearsal dinner here. We highly recommend it!

Didn't stay at the hotel. We were staying nearby, looking for someplace for Sunday brunch before returning to Northern Virginia, found good reviews for the Lafayette Hotel. It was affordable, friendly, food was good, nice atmosphere. If I'm in the area I would definitely stop here again

I would think this is what people are looking for in a boutique hotel in an historic building. Loved the room with two fabric covered arm chairs, the realistic wood (gas) fireplace, Keurig coffee machine, deep colors, one could easily cure up with a book on an inclement day or Staff is lean, not saying things don't get done, just need to listen carefully to how things are run, 9-10 for an excellent Americn breakfast and similarly dinner from 6-7:30 but need to reserve earlier in the week when it's not the "weekend." Dinner is $$$ or even $$$$ but worth it. It's sort of an awkward, nice but awkward location depending on activity, the Skyline Drive and Appalchian trail are just 8 miles up 33, but perhaps other features Charlottesville is known for are more of a day excursion in the area, eg, Monticello. A couple nice tidbits show an attention to detail, candy wafers and a small bottle of champagne on ice were in the room on arrival. I was solo, but the romantic appeal of the place is obvious. I was in the Monroe room, one word of caution is that the entrance is outdoors, eg, take stairs to second floor then walk outside on the veranda to the room. Also on one side the veranda slopes just a littlle bit. Enjoyed it though, better deal than chains in town.

We came to the Lafayette Inn after attending a football game in nearby Harrisonburg. Arriving late in the evening, we were greeted by the owner. Being late, their kitchen was already closed down for the night and she recommended a local pizza place which was just ok. There are no other eateries in Stanardsville! The room was well appointed with antiques everywhere and lots of personal touches. The TV reception was lacking with only two channels coming in at all as there is no cable or satellite tv. No mind, we were tired and that didn't matter. The night was quiet and comfortable. We rose late and went to breakfast at 9 am and were delighted with both the service and quality of the food. Again, the owners were there serving guests. They are very nice innkeepers and I would highly recommend a look and a stay at Lafayette Inn.

My husband and I were attending a wedding in Stanardsville and The Lafayette Inn was a recommended accommodation for overnight. Checkin was not until 4:00 but the wedding was at 4:00 so I emailed them ahead of time when I made our reservation and our room was ready when we got there in time to enjoy the champagne and snacks they had for us and get ready! We had everything we needed for a lovely stay. The next morning we made it down in time for breakfast and everything was delicious.

We were advised that the restaurant was shortstaffed, but we didn't have a long wait for our food. I ordered the green tomatoes with fondue cheese and balsamic vinegar drizzle-a great combination. I thought the batter on the tomatoes was too thick. Only had lunch but did not stay overnight. Nice ambience in the dining room

We had a wonderful time staying at The Lafayette Inn for two nights recently. It was our first time staying there and we’re glad we did. The proprietors, Alan and Kaye, were very welcoming and hospitable. We stayed in the Monroe Suite which was decorated quite nicely and had a very comfortable bed. The first evening we attended the Chef Tasting Dinner. Each of the 10 courses of this meal were accompanied by a wine pairing specific to the course. Alan took the time to describe each course and the paired wine in a conversational manner that simply added to the evening. We’ve been to other multi-course meals at other establishments, and they just couldn’t compare to the Chef Tasting Dinner at The Lafayette Inn. Each course, from appetizers to dessert, was mouthwatering. By course seven, we were getting full, but managed to get through all 10 courses. It was a pleasure to have such a relaxing meal. The next two mornings we enjoyed a full breakfast. Whether you have the omelet or the French toast, you won’t be disappointed. We highly recommend both the Chef Tasting Dinner and staying at The Lafayette Inn. Kudos to Alan and Kaye for making our time staying here so thoroughly enjoyable.

Tylor suite is large, with two generously sized rooms and a bathroom between them. The sitting room has a comfortable couch, tv, half size refrigerator and microwave. Immediately outside the suite is the second floor porch with tables and chairs. Bed on the right side of the bedroom was uncomfortable. It was hard and it sagged in the middle. I didn’t try the other bed because my wife and I only brought one allergy mattress cover and she was still sleeping on it, albeit restlessly. The sitting room has an unpleasant odor. I brought a Coway air purifier but it didn’t fully remove the smell, which might be in the couch or rug. It smelled like cat pee. Although I don’t imagine cats are allowed in. There are four or more cats on the property. You can smell them and their food in the outdoor stairwell. They are fed outside the Tylor suite on the second floor porch. The suite is dark during the daytime even on a sunny day, in part because of the dark green walls and the curtains which are sewn together at the top and cannot be fully opened. The lamps do a poor job at illuminating the space. The bathroom has bright lights. The curtains are not room-darkening however. Between the uncomfortable bed and morning light, I was unable to sleep past 5:00 am. Breakfast was not until 9:00, so it was a relief to find snacks in the room. I wish we’d stayed at a hotel. We wanted to be near the venue for a family event, which we were. Other family members stayed thirty miles away in a Hyatt. They had the right idea.

One of my toughest days ever on the road. Trip started in rain, which persisted all day. Half way to Charlottesville my check engine light came on. This entailed several stops trying to make sure I didn’t blow up my cars engine. Got behind schedule going by Flow Porsche in Charlottesville. They thought I would be ok, broken gas cap. Then swung by my school and after that the Inn. Weather was still horrible, pouring rain. I got there a little after 8 hoping to still get dinner, I missed my earlier reservation. There were people still in dining room but informed kitchen totally shut down. I really hadn’t eaten all day. Domino’s was my only option. Got into my room, it was nice but had a few issues. Women’s hair was still in shower floor/drain, I’m bald. The fridge was unplugged and fully defrosted which meant I couldn’t refrigerate some drinks I had with me. Woke up at 6 next morning starving. Breakfast not served till 9. Decided to head out at 745, went to check out and front was locked up tight. No one was around. I ended up going back to my room and locking key in room. Ate breakfast at Maybelles in Dyke. Huge breakfast, great food.
