Not here to rate as per say, but knowing the wonderful family and having hung out back in the late '70s with both Virginia and Hollis, I can't say enough about the feeling of home with them. Def. Stop, stay and eat and enjoy the quiet nice town Scottsville is all about!!!!!!!!!!! Love you guys! Cliff

This family restaurant in Scottsville VA has a huge rooster in the parking lot that caught our attention as we drove by. We don’t like to frequent any national chain eateries if we can possibly avoid them and Lumkins was the type of restaurant that proved our point. Filled with locals, staffed with employees who were either family or had...

We stayed at the Lumpkins motel and ate at the restaurant...Super good people. Mr Lumpkin was very honest and cordial. His employees were the greatest.. The food was wonderful. Not steaks and crab but regular normal food. Especially the pies with ice cream on top. Oh my.. The rooms were clean and took us back to the 60's. We will...

MY son just moved to Scottesville and I traveled there from Illinois for a visit. I found Lumpkin's Motel on the internet, only motel closer than Charlottesville, and I gave them a call. I spoke to the owner Hollis Lumpkin and we set the dates for my stay. Hollis was a pleasure to work with over the phone, he couldn't...

Ate here twice in one day on a short stay in Scottsville. It's the kind of the place where everyone inside knows each other. It's simple diner fare but tasty. They are famous for their fried chicken but I really enjoyed the cheeseburger. This place reminds me of restaurants from a bygone era. A real small town gem.

After an appointment in the area (14 December 2015) I headed to Lumpkins Restaurant for lunch, it was a toss up between their delicious fried chicken dinner & a cheese burger, however, the wait staff recommended the chicken salad sandwich, I will note while I waited for the sandwich, a platter of the open hot roast beef sandwich w/ mashed...

We chose to eat here on a whim one night and expected something delicious based on all of the vehicles that are normally outside. This was a huge disappointment. The place is in definite need of a makeover and wasn't very clean, especially the bathroom. I don't know about the hotel part of this, just the restaurant. I had the...

*Note: we did not stay at the motel, just ate at the restaurant* We came here for lunch and had a good experience. The food was pretty classic southern style with all the sides and fixings. The service was friendly and fast. I ordered a BLT and my husband got the chicken. Everything tasted good, and it was a comfortable...
