My wife and I visited Castlewood, St. Paul area last Christmas. We had booked the Alley House from the Bailey's for two nights. The owner checked us in and took us to see the rental. The Alley House is a converted garage that has very little insulation. I mention this because the first night we stayed there the temperature was in the low 30's. The gas logs in the fireplace did not work, the propane heater cut off and would not reignite, and the electric blanket that was on the bed did not work. Needless, to say, it was a very uncomfortable night. The following morning I got up to shower (and you guessed it) no hot water. I placed a call to the owner to tell him what the issues were and see if he could come by and take care of the problems. Mr. Bailey told me that he did not have time to come over and I could come by his business for a refund for the second night. He had no problem charging me for the first night, with taxes this amounted to almost $130.00. My review is very simple, do not waste your time or money with a business owner who treats their guests in this manner.

My husband & I recently visited south western Va, We stayed 2 nights in Saint Paul, decided to stay in the Alley House. It is a 1 bedroom small house in the yard of the owners. Check in and out was easy. While we didn't get to meet Jennifer Bailey, we did meet Greg, who also took us on an atv trail ride. The house had everything you need if you decide to cook, which we didn't. It was quiet, had a nice bedroom, living room, also had a washer/dryer which we did use. We had a nice stay.

St. Paul Suites is actually 6 apartments above the owner's hardware store. There are 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom units. They are clean, well furnished, and include satellite TV and wifi. Now here's the great news: the owners (Greg & Jennifer) cut their hardware store in half and built a micro-brewery / restaurant. We were there for their grand opening weekend and loved the place (Sugar Hill Brewery). I especially loved the wings and the Sugar Hill Blonde (referring to one of their beers.....not that there was anything wrong with the blonde hostess). We look forward to our next ATV trip to Virginia and will definitely stay with Greg and Jennifer at the fantastic establishment.
