Expected a lot based on the website, but it more than lived up to expectations. The location and views from both bed and public rooms were superb. The accomodation was spacious and very comfortable. We included evening meals which were super and found that Yogi poured generously and often. The website advertised an open bar which meant that you found...

Escape the world by spending some time at this luxurious B&B tucked into the tree'd hillside above Opua. Yogi and Glennis will pamper you the second you arrive; with a personal valet service and, if you wish, a gourmet dinner including wines. Although it was too cool during our stay, relaxing in the infinity pool with a glass of wine...

Having just returned from a great trip, travelling around both north and south islands of New Zealand felt I had to sing the praises of this great hotel. From the moment we parked our car we were taken care of. Yogi was there to welcome us by name, tell us not to bother with the car he would sort that out,...

Glennis and Yogi are very warm hosts that provided many suggestions for what to see and do locally, as well as a great breakfast and wonderful dinners. The rooms at the Sanctuary are well appointed, comfortable beds and bedding, and the robes are great for an afternoon nap listening to the birds and looking out to the water. Don't skimp...

Having landed in Auckland early in the morning there were moments when we wondered if we had been wise to drive all the way to the Bay of Islands on the same day. When we were greeted at the Sanctuary and walked in to see the view in front of us we were overwhelmed. Our room was delightful with such...

We only were able to spend one night at Sanctuary in before our cruise out of Opua. I wish that we could have stayed longer. Glennis and Yogi were wonderful hosts and the room was outstanding. We understand why they call it Sanctuary - because after a day of travel the comfort we found and the incredible views were amazing....

Rarely can an hotel be set in such beautiful surroundings. With views from your private terrace to die for it is indeed perfection. We were greeted by Yogi and owner and me his lovely wife Glennis a little later. We were shown around the property which feels like you are in a rather nice drawing room complete with telescope, piano...

Yogi and Glennis are great hosts and there is a wonderful sense of calm pervading the house with its stunning outlook onto the idyllic Bay of Islands. A truly exceptional three night stay. Welcoming hosts, comfortable cosy accommodation with great views, substantial breakfasts and sublime evening meals when available (they don't cook every night, but when they do, it's worth staying in).............enough said! Just go!
