As others have noted, Tom and Doris are exceptional hosts. It was/is Doris' dream, (She was a civil servant in Ottawa.) so they built the house together, from scratch. Tom's carpentry skills are second to none. You can see the photos, you can hear the stories. Much, much to enjoy--such as the coffee or the aforementioned French Toast Casserole. It...

Had a wonderful experience staying at Sheppard's B&B. Doris's french toast cassarole (with blueberries and maple syrup) for breakfast was delicious. The house is up a hill with a large yard (and wonderful view) so there are no traffic noises whatsoever, just peace and quiet.

A wonderful homey environment..welcomed like family by Doris and Tom. Cozy room..excellent breakfast and Tom's secret blend of coffee beans was the best ..I am a coffee snob and am not easily impressed BUT this was exceptional!Sitting around the tables sharing was greatly enjoyed.

The rooms are extremely comfortable and clean. We stayed in the lavender suite and the bed was just perfect. Breakfast in the morning provided a variety of choices and was served with delicious coffee and plenty of great conversation. Our hosts created a warm and hospitable atmosphere which encouraged conversation and laughter. Breakfast was topped off with some down home...

Stayed for 4 nights, and must say, a total delight. Given great places are tough to find in the Gross Morne area, falling across Doris and Tom's place, was a key find. Excellent rooms, fantastic breakfast choices, views from almost everywhere to die for, and the two nicest Newfoundlanders you could imagine. These folks have worked hard to make their...

Very friendly service. Each room has a theme. Uncomfortable spa shower. Clean and comfortable. Located on the top of a hill it had breathtaking scenery of South Side Gros Morne. Lots of towels. To order breakfast. Very good price. Would definitely stay here again.

The couple who run this place are about as friendly as it gets. They LOVE having guests. In fact they built this place I think just so they would always have company. In the morning they offer up a variety of differing plates for you to choose from for breakfast and sing you a song they wrote (complete with accordion...

You will never find another place in the world like Sheppard's B&B. The house is stunning inside and out. You are inside of Gros Morne NP when you stay here and are minutes from the Tablelands. The hosts are what really make this house a home for its guests. Doris and Tom have to be some of the sweetest people...

Doris and Tom are extremely kind and welcoming hosts and it is a pleasure to stay in their beautiful house. Trout River makes a great base for several of the hikes and other attractions around the Southern section of Gros Morne. Even better if your trip coincides with the summer festivities such as 'Writers at Woody Point'.
