We stayed at this hotel for one night whilst on a cycling holiday of the Netherlands. We were greeted warmly and shown where to securely store our bikes within the premises, and then we rehydrated in the bar - it was a heatwave that week. The hotel was perfectly central for exploring on foot and we enjoyed a lovely meal on the outside terrace in the evening. The route to our room was a little odd, past the bar and up a back stairs, but the room was lovely, clean, air conditioned and comfortable.

We booked this hotel the day we arrived as we were cycling around the area. The member of staff was very kind and allowed us to secure our bikes in the hotel in an area at the rear. The room had air conditioning a blessing the toiletries very nice the bed very comfortable. We slept 9 hours ! Breakfast was fantastic. We had the romantic room . Thank you would recommend

We wanted to have a quick lunch in Edam, and the restaurant in Damhotel was recommended. It turned out to be a bad choice. We had the Salad with marinated artichoke, goat cheese soufflé, tomato salsa, aceto, radish and pecans – which sounded great but was rather mediocre. It took quite a long time in coming (they told us because of the goat chees soufflé). The Toasted garlic bread was neither toasted enough nor garlicky enough. There are better places to have lunch in Edam, such as the De Fortuna.

If you are in Edam one evening for dinner, do not go to this restaurant. The staff were friendly enough but not very helpful and the food tasted very average and unexciting. The food is much better and more interesting in the hotel De Fortuna, 2 minutes walk around the corner. And the staff are more helpful too!

Fabulous rooms, albeit cosy. We stayed at this hotel for one night whilst on a cycling holiday in the Netherlands. It was the perfect end to our holiday.

Had dinner and breakfast; great with lovely friendly staff.

During a recent trip to Amsterdam we ventured out on a bus trip to the quaint village of Edam. Taking the number 316 bus from Amsterdam Central Station, we travelled through Volendam "Waterlands". Approx 30 minute bus ride through the countryside of the Netherlands, Edam is the last stop so no need to worry where to get off, just enjoy the scenic bus ride to the end. Following our noses from the bus terminal we discovered a beautiful village of small unusual properties, gorgeous individual shops following a canal waterway through, an amateur photographer's dream. It's almost like being on a medieval filmset! In need of refreshment we headed back into the centre of the village and sat watching the world go by enjoying a drink at this hotel. Flowers in abundance in large pots outside, a quiet place to watch the world go by.
The decor inside is magical, a calm relaxing place to visit, a real escape.

I really liked the interior despite it being quite dark - it had atmosphere. Has a large outdoor eating area but due to the midday heat we decided to eat indoors. My daughter chose the nachos and portion was large and reasonably priced. Burger and hot sandwiches tasty and we were happy with the service and price.

I was prepared for the quirky decor - and it was just fine. Clearly someone really enjoyed doing the interior design. The rooms vary - ours was large and the wifi was perfect. Beautifully updated bathroom. Lots of big high quality towels. Food very nice. I had a warm goat cheese sandwich on dark bread that was wonderful. The owners take a lot of pride in their hotel. They accommodated our bicycles inside the hotel during the night. Most of the breakfast was good, except the only breakfast cereal they offered was Kellogs in a box - not my favorite- but there was plenty of other food..

I'd booked this hotel as a birthday surprise for my husband based on the attractive presentation on the hotel's website. What's more, I went for the Romantic Package, which I spent quite a while arranging with the receptionist, and paid a relatively hefty price (over EUR 300 for 1 night!)...

Considering what I paid, I would have expected far better service and a far more luxurious room. Upon arrival in the attractive lobby-cum-restaurant, the staff showed no interest in us whatsoever. When I did finally root out the owner - and had to remind her that I'd booked the Romantic Package - she took us to our room.

As the 'nicest' room in the hotel, it was really rather disappointing. It was March, it was cold and the heating wasn't on. There was absolutely nowhere to put a suitcase, albeit a small one, and the bed was rock hard! The decor was pleasant enough, though rather tacky and somewhat worn in parts. We were supposed to be welcomed with a glass of champagne, which never materialised, and I actually had to ask twice for it. Not the kind of service I was expecting...

The meal was of a fairly high standard and the service was professional, though it would have been all the better had they put the heating on! When we retired to our room, they had prepared our "Romantic Package", i.e. rose petals in the bath, oysters, etc. and...the tiniest bottle of champagne I have ever seen!!! When I'd discussed this with the receptionist, she had promised me it would be a bottle of Veuve Cliquot - it certainly wasn't.

Breakfast was average. Check-out was dismal - no-one asked if we'd enjoyed ourselves. It's a shame because it's quite a nice place - just overpriced and not very welcoming!

We recently stayed in Edam at at the Damhotel because La Fortuna was booked. We loved Edam and had a fantastic time at the Damhotel. The hotel is recently refurbished. Every room has a different theme and the attention to detail is sumptuous. Food and wine were excellent and fairly priced. Management were charming as were the waitstaff in the restaurant, despite us showing up to dinner with our 2 and a half year old!

I wish we had stayed another night instead of going to Brugge which was much, much more touristy and bad value compared with the Damhotel! Highly recommend. La Fortuna looked lovely too, sadly it was all booked up!
