The accommodation is good and adequate for a small budget, located far from the beach and the center, surrounded by ruins. Of the three pools, only one is in use. There is only the pool bar, no other infrastructure in the complex. The house is spacious and clean, the beds hard and uncomfortable.

The Hotel:
After reading a couple of the reviews on TripAdvisor we were a little apprehensive.
Remember this is a 3 star hotel if you expect 5 star facilities then pay extra and go to a 5 star.
I travelled with my wife and two teenage children ( 15 & 17 respectively). On arrival at 09:30 the restaurant was scheduled to close at 10:00, the chap at reception told us to leave our bags and go to the restaurant, nice touch I thought. The food was fresh and still had a fair choice.
The hotel had two very large reception areas , this is where the WiFi is free but only until 12noon, unfortunately it is a little flaky, the “Premium” WiFi is not much better but you can get a connection .
Apartment:
The apartments are well laid out with plenty of vegetation to take away any feeling of a concrete complex. We had a ground floor ( A 174 ) which was one row back from the pool, but had a back door which opened out to a small patio with a table chairs and a clothes airer, plus more views of Palm trees . The apartments themselves were very spacious, with a living area containing a table, chairs, sideboard, TV (channels pretty naff), couch and lounge chair, the bathroom was large and the hot water never ran out, despite having a teenage girl who spends most of the holiday under the shower. The two large bedrooms had two single beds in each with ample wardrobe space, enough space for clothes for a month. Down Side no air-conditioning, so we slept with the window open at night, Beds are a little firm, it took me a couple of days to get used to them.
Swimming Pools:
Two excellent salt water swimming pools which were warm once you submerged yourself and cooled down from the thirty plus degree heat. The main swimming pool was large with a brilliant fountain in the middle which the kids, of all ages enjoyed diverting the flow. The “lower” pool had 3 lanes marked off for the people who like to amble along and do a few laps to cool down, but this too had play areas at the sides for the kids and adults alike. Sun Loungers are plentiful and the majority had been either refurbished or renewed so there were no issues with loungers (referring to an earlier review) . There is a third swimming pool labelled as the Olympic Pool, you must pay to use it and it was mostly full of potential Olympians so we did not try this one.
Poolside Bar:
This had plenty of tables and chairs under straw parasols, a great place to relax, if you are all inclusive there is also an area where food is available from 12 to 3pm, I must admit after two weeks you do get fed up of Burger, Hot dog, cheese slice, chips and Pizza with all of its variations. The drinks are local brands so they did not feel as potent to me, but when they are free who cares.
Main Restaurant:
This was where you could have Breakfast, lunch and dinner, the food was plentiful and very well cooked. If you are looking for fish and chips, Pie & Chips or a Sunday roast then go to Cornwall, the choice was good with a variation of Chicken, Pork, Beef and vegetarian dishes, I was still looking forward to the evening meal even at the end of our holiday. Downside it can feel a little like "schools out" at certain times as the hotel does cater for school parties who use the Olympic school.
There is another restaurant where you must book in advance, this had themed evenings BBQ, Asian etc. which had a much better atmosphere looking out over the pools, the food was no better or worse than main restaurant. So could be a more relaxing time.
Facilities:
In the lower ground ,there are two Gym’s one is free the other you must pay , both looked fairly new and the equipment looked in good working order , there is also a Ten Pin bowling alley with pool tables and a large TV where they show the important football games . Above the ten pin bowling are a number of shops , one sells absolutely everything , you name it they have it , a supermarket and a surf shop ( surf board hire is fairly cheap ), next to the surf shop is a bike hire area , where you can hire electric Bikes , scooters and pushbikes all at a decent rate . Football pitches, tennis courts and basketball courts are also on or near the Hotel.
Entertainment:
The Animation team are brilliant they never stop entertaining the kids during the day and the adults and kids in the evening, the “formal” entertainment on the evenings is a little lacking but it makes the holiday, having a good laugh.
Local Area:
We had passes for the water park, I would recommend you get these from your travel agent as it is very expensive to pay on the day, its 25Euro a day or 75Euro for the week. We spent many days in there, the food is excellent cooked on the hotplate as you order, and even the pizza is made from scratch.
Further down the road is the “Main Drag” not just the normal cheap shops , in fact not too many of them but some decent shops , so if you’re looking for cloths , perfume , sports ware even a shop selling F1 clothing with a F1 Ferrari in the window , this is the place to go , plus the normal bars and cafes. Keep walking and you reach a couple of Beautiful little coves with golden sands and light blue sea. It is a 20 min brisk walk but a Taxi is only 2.50 Euro and 3 Euro in the evening. There is the obligatory mini train which takes you around the area, probably worth a trip if you would like to see more of the little streets and the Marina.
We took a local bus (12 Euro for 4 adults) to Puerto del Rosario, which has a nice promenade where you can sit drink coffee/beer and listen to live music or go to the shopping centre which is a replica of any UK shopping centre with Burger King,H&M,Beneton,Zara etc etc.
Finally the Staff, I can’t say a bad word about the staff, they were some of the most pleasant, helpful, honest, professional, fun people I have ever met, and everyone would go out of their way to help you no matter what time of day or night. I cannot say anything more but ten Stars to the Staff and Manager.

We stayed here in September 2012 after booking through a villa agent. Keys were left exactly where instructed which was our first relief, our villa was not affiliated with reception so we were left to our own devices on that one. Depending how you book I think will alter which villa you are given and what level of support you will receive on-site.
The size was perfect, just what we’d hoped for. 3 double bedrooms, large lounge diner with a kitchen tucked in the corner which was well appointed. The pool and terrace were also pleasing, and the entire place was very clean. On that, our cleaners arrived 2/3 times a week for usual change etc but that I guess is dependent on who you book with. We can’t fully remember but we are pretty sure that the pool is cleaned when the villa is serviced.
These villas are on the edge of the Oasis Papagayo complex which is directly next door. The villas have a gated (lockable) entrance in the garden allowing access into the adjoining complex should you wish to use the pools and facilities. Apart from a few pool visits we hardly touched the main site, in truth it seemed rather quiet. They are both at the south end of town, and it does have a strange almost ghost town feel to it until to reach the top of main street. We could walk that in 10 minutes but there is a taxi rank right opposite the villas so it’s all easy enough. There are hardly any open bars / restaurants / shops by the villas, just the odd one or two and as a result it is nice and quiet during the evenings. For shopping there is a brand new Mercadona slightly further out of town but the usual shops are scattered throughout the resort.
The villas are a mix of privately owned and rented out, it’s quite possible that you may get differing neighbours during the stay and of course each have their own levels of noise control etc by the pool. That said, we had no disturbances at night and any daytime / evening parties had stopped come sleep time.
The main beaches on the outskirts of town are easily reached from the villas via taxi and local buses also go by the main road nearby. The beaches in town are very small and seem more for local use then tourists, perfectly fine. We did find it suited us as the town was usually quieter in the day as a lot of tourists would be 3/4 miles away at the main beaches.
Everything worked perfectly in the villa, no issues to report, all quite safe and in good order. One point to note would be that the trees on the terrace dropped ‘things’ and if you had children there could be a risk of injury. These ‘things’ drop from a height and land with a reasonable thud. Parking is via the road outside, whilst the villas each have a gated driveway there are no dropped kerb provisions and the road is lined with raised paving / gravel beds. Each villa is fenced and gated from all sides, all lockable so security wasn’t an issue.
We would certainly go again.

There was everything we needed. They wanted to make us feel home...and welcome:) the food is simple but sufficient. the hotel is like a small village. there were some flaws but it seems you can't have everything. If somebody complains there are bugs- where plants there bugs. If the food is too basic - think about Arabic feast that can cost you two days in the restroom...
Papagayo is for less demanding ones but for sure it can be a place to rest. The pools are huge, the garden magnificent. You can walk there, you can use outside jacuzzi, you can relax because there is very quiet and calm
The dune beach is a must. We went through the whole island, the moonlike landscape is hard to forget.

We booked this as last minute break for our family of seven.
This resort is ideal for families who like to be active but is also ideal for people who want to chill. Our children aged 13,14,15,17 and 20 all loved the holiday and the resort. The pool area was great, maybe in need of a little cosmetic repair but nothing that would spoil your holiday. The hotel grounds are beautiful with palms and flowers complementing the environment.
The location of the hotel is ideal to get around the town as well as the old square. The water park is a ten minute walk away and was definitely worth a day out.
The accommodation was lovely and spacious. The only thing that could if been improved was the bathroom was slightly dated but certainly not unusable! The outdoor space was lovely and we would sit in the patio and watch the world go by. The bar and restaurant areas were also good with a 2:4:1 drinks offer some evenings. We only used the restaurant on our last evening as we were self catering but also ate out as there were so many restaurants to choose from. However, the pool snack bar was fantastic value for money so for a day around the pool it was ideal! We had food for seven, burgers/hotdogs/pizza all with fries and salad, and drinks for less than €50! And the portions were plentiful!
Will definitely go back if we get the opportunity.

Let's get some context, this is a 3 star all inclusive resort, not a hotel, not 5 star Dubai style hotel.
So the score on is on it being a 3 star.
A large resort, in terms of ratio of rooms to land it occupies. Ground floor and first floor only apartments in maisonette style looking villas.
The food is basic, the first night we arrived late and had the food which was in the main buffet restaurant at 9:15 - it was closing at 9:30pm, so it was a bit dry and tired and nothing fresh was being put out.
We just wanted a quick snack, it passed as okay.
Breakfast the following day was fine, nothing spectacular but cereal, cooked, etc selection was limited but what most people want.
Lunch time choose between a snack bar from 1:30pm of burgers, pizza, hot dogs, chips, a bit of salad - this is convenient as by the pool and no need to change etc.
If you want something else, use the restaurant, food basic but a choice of different things and salads are good. Lovely tomatoes, cucumber, onion all fresh.
Evening times there is a buffet restaurant or another restaurant you book.
Trying the restaurant you book tonight - it is a BBQ type tonight and then Asian (Chinese/ Indian) - different themes on different evenings.
Pool side has plenty of sun beds and no need to get up at 6am to secure sun beds but after 10:30am you might not get where you want to sit or lay but will get a couple of beds.
The evening bar is family focused with entertainment most evenings and good old fashioned bingo.
Day time they have darts, yoga, water polo, table tennis, snooker/ pool, to keep kids and adults occupied, the staff are friendly.
The room is basic but has a fridge, kettle, cooler etc so even if you are all inclusive you can still store things you want.
Only issue is you need to buy your own drinking water, as not keen on drinking on Pepsi or sprite all day.
Paid more, and stayed in 5 star hotels and had more to complain about so things are good and value for money, so far

Been coming to oasis papagayo for many years. Always have the same one bedroomed large accommodation with extra bed space in the lounge. Clean. Nice location. Pools etc. Not one for all inclusive or clubhouses but this is available. Corralejo town centre and beach/Port is a short walk away offering an abundance of restaurants, bars and shops. Small beach in corralejo

I stayed at this hotel with a sports team for 10 days over the 2014/15 new year. The trip was booked through an independent sports travel company. The hotel is markets itself as a sport and family resort. Thomson have this hotel in their brochure and the pictures looked really good so I was looking forward to my trip. My husband was working throughout the trip so I had my 2 1/2 year old son to entertain for most of the time.
We arrived at 9:30 in the evening after the restaurant should have closed. The hotel were expecting us and kept dinner open. The reception staff were helpful and they have a decimated member of staff, Olaf who looks after the teams. He was great and looked after our team for the duration of our visit and gave us a tour of the facilities that same evening. The staff are the main selling point of this hotel. The rest was disappointing for the following reasons
1) the pools look great but are freezing, not what you want in low season when the weather is not at its best. My son went in the pool once and wouldn't go back in again all trip due to the cold. Most other people felt the same given the pool mosly was completely empty. That pretty much left me stuck with how to entertain him for the next 9 days.
2) the small playground was filthy and didn't get cleaned the whole trip. Broken equipment, litter and and in general disrepair.
3) the food was okay for a day, but we all got more fed up of it everyday. Not much choice, cheap cuts of meat and very salty
4) the cleanliness in the restaurant was poor. We sat at the same table each day due to the size of our group. The tables were dressed with white linen with a plastic cloth covering the top. After each meal the plastic was wiped down with a cloth, no cleaning spray so it was sticky. Over the week, the food that had been spilt down the side built up. Think of the mess a 2 year old creates each mealtime and you begin to understand how bad it got. The same tablecloths remained the full stay. The floor wasn't much better.
5) location wise, the hotel is on the edge of the town. It was 10 mins brisk walk to the edge of town. 30 mins to the middle. Not much there really except the usual; souvenir tat, supermarkets, cheap restaurants, Irish bars, you get the gist. I went each day to the beach for a few hours just to get out of the hotel.
6) you'd think the sports facilities would be good, think again. The 50 m pool is good but that's it. Rubbish gym, not much better than a home gym and the guy who runs it is grumpy and most unhelpful. Not much good when you have a team of elite athletes.
7) the wifi is a joke. Free in reception until midday when they turn if off! The premium wifi is 20 euros per week and just rubbish. You can't pick it up in the rooms, just in communal areas.
To summarise, nice staff, cheap food, dirty and not in the best location. Sports facilities other than Olympic pool not up to much. Not a 4 star and not great for sport. Glad this was not my holiday.

We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. The villa we had recently was fantastic, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a/c in all bedrooms, all in all it ticked all the boxes, however a few gripes were to be had, the neighbours behind that lived there were noisy most nights for our 2 weeks there, if they weren't at it, the family in the above apartment made up for them with music and raucous partying until early hours, and don't get me started on the locals with their dogs barking, from 8 in the morning for a couple of hrs & then from around 6 ish until 9 pm, most of these were allowed to bark without the owners trying to shut them up, if I wanted to hear that every day then i'd holiday near some dog kennels, we didn't expect to pay what we paid to have to listen to the racket of noisy neighbours and even noisier dogs. After this holiday with the dogs and because of the racket, I doubt if we'd go back again.

The villa was traditionally Spanish.About 5 minutes walk from the hotel.Very quiet and had everything you need for self catering. The pool was lovely and a decent sized. The shops are about 15 minutes walk away or 5 minutes by taxi. There are plenty of taxis about. The pools and bar area at the hotel and apartments are worth going to and the bar food is great.A trip to Lobos island is well worth it.Although out of season the restaurant is not open so best take a sandwich and water with you.The shops and malls are fantastic with lots of reasonably priced restaurants. The villas are wheel chair friendly but because of the distance of shops and even the hotel you need to be fit enough to be able to walk some distance unless you get taxis everywhere. We had a fantastic time and would definitely go back again.

I would like to see a 1 bedroom apartment please
No,not any cats just 2 young Spanish boys who smash your window and try to break into your villa while sleeping (5am). We were told by police, area has went down hill in the last year due to the economy (June 2016)
