Great first holiday with our four month old, we had a rooftop hot tub room and couldn’t fault the room one bit. Spending the afternoons on the roof with our baby relaxing in the shade was really relaxing. The hotel staff are brilliant and the breakfast buffet was lovely. The chefs work there socks off getting breakfast ready everyday. We had a brilliant time and loved the views on the roof of the mountains and the beach near the hotel.

I’m currently at the hotel and been here a week. We are here as a family of 3 all inclusive for 2 weeks. The first week has been a mixture of good and poor to be honest. We choose alcudia palace over palmanova palace as the reviews we read made us feel the entertainment and things to do was more suited to us at alcudia palace. Plus the videos of the food etc on Instagram looked amazing. The rooms are actually really big, clean and the swim up suits are really worth it. The pirate ship pool for the kids is great but lacks a bit of background music or something. When they do the pool aerobics you see people happy to hear it. The staff (well most of them) are very friendly and helpful. Now the bits that unfortunately for me have let the hotel down. The mini bar is not a part of the all inclusive so if you want a drink and your in one of the rooms that’s not near a bar you have a bit of a walk. There is no atmosphere in this hotel at all. It’s like a clinic, no background music anywhere no real interaction between staff and guests. I don’t mean they have to have a party but just a little something that normally you probably wouldn’t even notice was there. The buffet is a joke! It’s small, not much of a choice and the fruit is on a station outside which is not covered so some of the fruit is covered in flies all over. I had a bit of steak and it was terrible. It was thrown on the plate by someone that didn’t seem to want to be there and like rubber. Thought maybe was a off night so gave it another go and again I was disappointed. In all honesty it’s most probably one of worst I have been to. On the plus side the food in the a la carts are good but I can see this getting boring very soon. Not really what they show online and on their social media. The evening entertainment is pretty bad to be honest. Even with the little evening entertainment that is on it doesn’t create a atmosphere in the hotel which is strange. Daytime they come and do a kids disco around 4 at the pirate ship which is ok. Out of 6 nights they haven’t put any drinking water in our room 4 times. Once was ok it happens, twice ok let me go get some but then it gets a bit annoying especially the amount people pay to come here. The hotel at the moment is summed up Like the cava they gave us when we arrived flat. Oh and the gym don’t get your hopes up it’s a room with very minimal equipment. When you ask the reception about the food or the entertainment they say it’s because of covid and not everything is in full service. If this is the case we should be told as they are still taking people’s money for a full service so don’t think it’s fair. So really my take at the moment on this hotel for what it’s worth is save your £5000+ for your family holiday and go somewhere else. This hotel has a long way to go to compete with other 5 star hotels and to be what it promotes itself as. I just hope the next 7 days are better than the first.

We’re currently here on our ten-day honeymoon and we arrived a week ago. The Good: I have travelled all over the world in five star resorts for the past 25 years and I’m very fussy, but I’m going to start off by saying this is a very nice hotel. We booked a penthouse suite with hot tub and I’ve been very impressed with the room. I’ve never stayed in a room with so much storage space, and for someone like me who isn’t capable of packing lightly, this is important so top marks here. The maid service has been excellent and upon checking into the room, I was really impressed with the cleanliness - it was immaculate. Many people have commented on the lack of privacy in the bathroom - I like my privacy but my husband and I didn’t find the room layout an issue as we’re pretty comfortable with each other. I can see it might be a problem for those at the start of a relationship though! Aside from that, the shower is great with really good water pressure! I would also like to recognise the staff, almost all of whom have been amazing. With the exception of a couple of the male waiters who didn’t seem to want to be there, the rest of the staff we encountered in the restaurants and bars were friendly, helpful and efficient, and the hotel should be very proud of them. In terms of location, it’s a five minute walk to an absolutely gorgeous beach for starters. I’m lucky enough to have been to the Caribbean and the Maldives, and having only seen some very unappealing beaches in Tenerife and Cyprus, my expectations of my first visit to Majorca were low, but I was genuinely blown away by Alcudia beach. It’s also only five minutes to the marina with its shops, bars and restaurants, which is a real bonus In terms of food, it’s not bad. We had our best meals at the Veranda - the steaks are very good. The Not So Good: The first thing that’s disappointed me is that there have been no special gestures to recognise that it is our honeymoon. Your honeymoon is the most important holiday of your adult life and choosing a resort for this is a very big deal. Even the hotel we stayed in at Heathrow the night before our flight decorated our room beautifully, left treats in our room and gave us a complimentary upgrade, and it’s pretty poor that the hotel we’re staying at for our actual honeymoon has done nothing. It’s also not good that the mini bar contents aren’t included on all inclusive. The reason I felt I needed to write this review is that I spent hours reading reviews before booking this resort and I didn’t appreciate the biggest problem with this hotel if you’re travelling as a couple…it is literally 97% full of families with toddlers. It promotes itself as a resort for families and couples, but if you are about to book this hotel and you aren’t travelling with children, please be aware that at every single mealtime, whether at breakfast, lunch or in one of the à la carte restaurants for dinner, your table for two will be surrounded with toddlers in high chairs…the noise levels are off the scale, particularly at breakfast. It is literally like eating a meal in the middle of a crèche. Unfortunately resort has been designed to cater for families, with little thought for the couples it claims to be perfect for. Not one of the four restaurants is adults only, so whatever time you book in the evening, there are kids everywhere, some with parents who don’t believe in explaining to their offspring that meal time isn’t the time for screaming (I’m a mum myself by the way). Even the table tennis table is in the middle of the playground, so it’s impossible to play as there are even children constantly running around you. I watched in horror as I saw a mum working out in the gym with her toddler at her side. Since when is this a place for children? If I had young children, I would have no complaints, but I have an issue with the hotel claiming that it is a couples resort. It’s a shame because of it made a few small changes, it would honour its claim to cater for families and couples alike. They need to show more consideration for those of us travelling as a couple. Why not make one of the à la carte restaurants adults only, or at least make sure one of the restaurants is adults only each night after 8:30? When I’m trying to have a romantic dinner, I don’t want to literally be surrounded by screaming toddlers throwing food around the place or in pushchairs, and I don’t think I’m being unreasonable to expect to find a child-free restaurant in a hotel that has four! If you’re going to provide an adults only sunbathing area, why would you not offer an adults only dining experience? We thought that if we booked a table at 9pm, this would solve the problem as all the families would have eaten earlier, but this wasn’t the case; it was also very clear when we arrived that the waiting staff were keen to call it a night! Even after you’ve had dinner and you want to sit and have a drink, the terrace is overrun with toddlers running around. There is no escape - nowhere for adults to sit and have a drink together in the evening without being surrounded by kids. There is at least an adults only raised terrace area for sunbathing with a small pool in the centre of the resort, which we have very much appreciated;this is where we spend our days for some peace and quiet. We’ve also been very glad of our penthouse with hot tub on our terrace where we can escape when we need to! To be fair, I can’t say what the resort is like at other times of the year (we thought September would be quieter with all the children back at school) but I can only imagine what it’s like in the school holidays! For this reason, I don’t think we’ll be back, which is a real shame because for our first few days, for some reason the hotel was very quiet and there were a lot less guests, and I thought we’d found the perfect resort.

Dear ClairegE1189ND, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of our hotel while you are still here. Thanks for your kind words towards the cleanliness, the penthouse suite, the great location and the taste food in la veranda. On the other hand, I am very sorry that your experience at the hotel is not as relaxing as it could be. At Zafiro Hotels we are very much focused on adult and family holidays and our hotels and resorts have been specifically designed with these two concepts in mind in order to offer the best of both worlds. As you said a clear example of this is that all of our hotels feature adults-only pools and spaces. Regarding the honey moon, I totally agree and I apologize. But do not doubt that we still have time to surprise you. I hope I can regain confidence in us, if you need my assistance, I will be at the hotel until 17:00. Kind regards, Tamara Elsa Dominguez Claes Guest Relations Manager Zafiro Palace Alcudia

We arrived in August for a 7 night stay. It was our 6th visit to the hotel and didn’t disappoint. The amazing staff are one of the main reasons we keep coming back. Friendly, professional and they have a knack of making you feel like family. Andres, Mauri, Luiz, Andres, Viviana, Miguel Tur and MANY more always make us so welcome and cannot do enough for us. The rooms are spotlessly clean with a modern design, housekeeping are on hand if you need anything extra such as towels. We’ve previously had the jacuzzi suite which has a large decking area, definitely a worthwhile treat if it’s within your budget. The hotel is literally a five minute walk to the beach and across the road you’ll find many shops, bars, restaurants and pharmacy. My daughter has been coming since she was 5, she’s now 11 and still begs to come back. For the younger ones there’s a great kids club and separate pirate ship kids pools with slides where they have a little pool party at 5pm each day. The main draw is the wet bubble in the main pool which will keep kids entertained in the pool ‘all day long’ and means they make many friends, all whilst us parents sip on cocktails at the pool bar. They also have things like the aqua mat, glitter/face painting and the iconic music swimming quiz offered throughout the week and the older kids loved to congregate at the basketball court in the evenings. There is also mini golf and an enclosed park next to the buffet restaurant which is a great incentive to get the younger ones to eat, and allows you a few minutes of peace to eat whilst they play. Yes, things have been different because of Covid, which I think is to be expected. There were no evening shows, so as not to draw all the guests to one area, but quizzes were on twice in the week. Instead they had individual musicians come on different evenings to the bar for ambiance and afterwards music was played in the background and a video screen played. I was so grateful to have such a lovely holiday that these small changes weren’t a disappointment to me and I can’t wait to come back next year when things return to normal. If I ever have any niggles, queries, comments or feedback I know the GM Llorenc and Guest Relations Manager Tamara are always around daily and accessible so I can discuss any issues. To summarise, if you want a lovely, modern, clean luxurious resort that works brilliantly with children this hotel is perfect. We’ll see you next year. N Findlay
