I can only empathise what everyone else has said! This hotel has friendly helpful staff especially all those at the Pool & Atlantic Bar. The food was really good especially our meals at the Pool Bar (we were on all inclusive). Our room was a superior sea view with amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean. Room was clean and spacious and we had access to a lounge area where we could get tea, coffee and soft drinks. I cannot fault any part of my holiday including the location. I knew what to expect as I had done my research before booking. Yes there isn’t much to do or many shops but you can walk along the promenade and up the steps for a longer walk. Will definitely be back in a couple of years time for another totally relaxing holiday.
Hard to find anything to criticise. The hotel is exceptionally clean and well presented, the staff throughout are excellent. Both friendly and efficient. The buffet meals were of above average quality. Our all inclusive lunch was served as the a la carte pool bar menu , which is not always the case apparently. The free shuttle bus into Funch is a great asset. Whilst the promenade is relatively short, the sea , waves and cliffs are magnificent. We did two tours through Jet2 which were both exceptional value and included an additional free half day tour. We did the dolphin trip as well.
The Good Points: The hotel is very clean, the rooms are spacious, the staff are friendly. There’s free parking. It overlooks the sea, there’s a promenade outside hotel. The hotel grounds are immaculate. We were there on a B&B basis, so can only comment on breakfast, but there’s a huge choice of everything you’d expect (toaster is hidden around the corner at far end of the restaurant, it took us until day 4 to see it!). Rooms have a hairdryer, with decent power, but it’s attached to the wall in the bathroom where you can’t sit down and you have to hold the bottom down continuously! There’s plenty of wardrobe space, with around a dozen hangers. There are more than enough sun beds at the hotel, never ever a problem at any time of the day. There’s a free shuttle bus in to Funchal, but only Monday to Friday (finished running late afternoon/early evening though). The Negative Points The negatives are more about the location than the hotel. The promenade is very short (5 min walk/or 10 mins if strolling). There’s just 1 restaurant at end of the promenade. There’s no proper beach outside, you can’t even really call it a pebble beach, they’re big rocks. Not suitable to sit/sunbath on. Other than the promenade, everywhere else is very hilly, so there’s a steep walk to go anywhere. It was our first visit to Madeira and we loved it. But although the hotel was nice enough, we wouldn’t choose the resort of Canico again. It’s nice, but although there’s some nice restaurants, there’s nothing else to do there. Luckily we had a hire car (arranged by hotel and would recommend), so we were able to travel all over the island and see lots. There’s not many sandy beaches on Madeira, it’s a very rocky island. The closest sandy (man made) beach was in Machico. Funchal has lots to see, if we go back, this is where we’d stay. We’d recommend eating at Agosto (need to book, not so cheap) or Snack Bar Mare does an amazing octopus dish (cheap there too)!…
We love this hotel, and this is our second visit. The staff are always super friendly, and the food has been excellent. It's in a very beautiful quiet sea front location with a level promenade on your doorstep, we came for 3 weeks to give us some proper chill time and escape the cold January weather back home.
Top class hotel, wonderful friendly helpful staff. Delicious food, in attractive restaurant. Plus A La Carte restaurant with amazing food. Clean, attractive rooms and public areas. Seafront position, wish I could have stayed longer. Beautiful gardens and grounds
We booked a week in late November/early December 2022 at The Views Oasis in Madeira for my wife's birthday, via Jet2......and we were not disappointed. Our third visit to Madeira, it's a beautiful island, we thought we'd go back to Canico. The reviews of this hotel were very favourable and we were able to secure a Superior Room, with sea view, on our preferred dates, flying from Edinburgh. The hotel location is fantastic, overlooking the rocky shore and the ocean. From our room, we had a beautiful view of the Ilhas Desertas, where the sun rose every morning. There's not a long promenade in front of the hotel, but it's a very popular area for fitness and there are fitness machines that are frequently used. Most routes from the sea in Madeira are uphill and Canico is no different, so you need a basic level of fitness to get around, but the surrounding roads aren't too busy, so getting around is pretty easy. The hotel staff are probably their greatest asset. Friendly, extremely helpful, efficient. Everything with a smile, from dinks and food serving, reception duties to the on-site shops and boutiques, they couldn't be better....and their language skills are fantastic. They had a great choice of freshly prepared food at every sitting, with choices of meat and fish, lots of salads, show cooking, fantastic range of bread and lovely deserts. Freshly cooked omelettes at breakfast and a range of 'continental' and cooked food, served with a glass of fizz to set your day off with a sparkle. The hotel was kept beautifully clean and well maintained during our stay and there always seemed to be staff making sure that everything was 'just-so' for the guests. We were on an 'all-inclusive' tariff and that included a full choice of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails and we had no complaints about the quality or range of drinks. The restaurant staff always made sure our glasses were full during our meal. On my wife's birthday, at dinner, we were provided with a bottle of sparkling wine and then the staff came along with a cake and all sang Happy Birthday....it really made the occasion special. The hotel is very stylish with lots of space and areas to relax. We took advantage of the on-site spa during the week and had a wonderful massage, on the only rainy day. Special thanks to Ivone, on the hotel management team for all the pre-trip arrangements and for coming to check that everything was to our satisfaction. Too many staff to list by name, you were all wonderful. We were maybe lucky with the weather this year, but we've booked again for next year and can't wait to explore more of Madeira, while returning to The Views Oasis to be looked after by the wonderful staff.…
Just completed a 10 night stay in late November. Canico is 10km east of Funchal and just 7 km, (further east) from the airport. We opted for all-inclusive, as the reviews were good and we didn’t want to have to do much more than relax, walk, eat and drink; but not necessarily in that order. The hotel exceeded expectations, food has been very good, the staff are super friendly and accommodating and there’s a good range of nationalities, who rubbed along well together, with the added tension of the World Cup taking place (largely in the background) to add bit of spice to proceedings. The rooms are excellent, spacious, well sound insulated and with good sized balconies. The food in the buffet restaurant is to a high standard and enjoyable, with plenty of choice for all tastes. The speciality nights were a good idea and provided some different options. The pool bar was the only option at lunchtime, but if staying all inclusive anything from the al a carte menu was available and all the options were very good. The only slight downside is the nighttime bar and entertainment area, which despite being well furnished, and staffed by very friendly people, suffers from dire background music, that the staff ackknowledge, but seem powerless to change. "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)" could be heard, without fail, every 90 minutes and always played twice in succession, to further gnaw into the brain!!! The excellent bar staff did their best, but ABBA always won (could be the basis of a song?) and my musical Tourette’s kicked in. There is no excuse for repetitive music anymore, please sort this (in contrast the other ear was had varied and non-repetitive music - go-figure?6! The nightly entertainment was of varying quality but always sincerely delivered. Personally, if someone turns up with a keyboard, I would rather they play electric piano, than try to generate a tinny synthesised Euro melange, replicating every instrument of a given band. Just a thought. Equally, dim the house lights and light the stage, ambience is all! There is a short promenade (c200m) outside the hotel, but as many reviews note, the area is generally very steep, so we made use of the frequent, complimentary shuttle service, to go into FUNCHAL and explore further from there. I did walk from the hotel, the 2 miles each way, to the highly impressive Cristo Rei statue, with amazing panoramic views, but the walk is not for the faint hearted. Those who do not like long steep inclines would be better taking a taxi.…
This really is a great hotel. From the welcome at reception late at night to the friendliness of all the staff in all areas I was impressed. The hotel is very clean and the quality and choice of food is excellent. Normally on an all inclusive we eat in local restaurants out of the hotel but in the case of the Four Views Oasis we ate there every night, say no more. Cant wait to stay here again.
We are coming to the end of our week at Four Views, and we have had such a great time. The hotel is very clean and stylish, all the staff we have met have been very friendly and helpful, and the children have loved the outdoor pool. I was concerned to read the review before we came regarding the dirty loungers, however I have found that to be far from the case. Tony was constantly cleaning and looking after the whole pool area and it was immaculate. The food gets a special mention too - wow, the food…! So many choices, a super selection and excellent quality. Themed evenings - Madeiran night greeted with puncha at the entrance to the dining room was lovely. The dining room is light and airy or you can sit outside. Watching the sunrise over the ocean during breakfast was spectacular. The entertainment for the children was great, the staff very friendly and really made the effort. Evening entertainment at the bar was also enjoyable. We really have had a super week and think this is a brilliant place to stay!…
My daughter asked me to write a review on here after our family holiday to say how good Tony is around the pool, he was very friendly and helpful, going out of his way to make sure you had a good time.
