Booked a weekend break to Portugal arriving on 31st Jan, departing on 2nd Feb. I emailed the hotel prior to our arrival to check that all was ok (Brexit day had moved from October to January 2020 and we weren't sure how it would affect us). I informed them that the trip was to celebrate my husbands birthday (without the kids....yay!!!) and they emailed me back the same day to confirm our reservation and reassure me that all was well. By the time we touched down in Portugal it was 8pm and although the journey from the airport to the hotel was only 25 mins, we had to wait for the shuttle bus we booked privately. Reception is open 24/7 and when we arrived we were greeted by a lovely young lady who was very polite, efficient and spoke good English. She gave us the card to our room which was on the 9th floor and we made our way up in the lift (the lifts are very small). When we got to our room we were amazed at how beautiful the room was. My husband and I promptly whipped out our phones to take pictures! We couldn't really see outside because it was dark but we could hear that we were near the sea. On one of the tables was some goodies (fresh fruit, pastries and a bottle of bubbly) but we weren't sure if we would be slapped with a bill if we touched it so we thought we should check with reception.......we were on our way out anyway to get some food because we hadn't eaten since leaving the UK. When we asked about the goodies at reception we were informed that they had provided it complementary as it was my husbands birthday. WOW, how lovely of the hotel to provide that special, personal touch. The next morning we opened the curtains to a wonderful view of the beach/sea. JUST AMAZING! Breakfast is buffet style and is what you normally get in Europe, no disappointments there. As a black couple we didn't feel out of place and all the hotel staff were so welcoming. We had no issues with the local restaurants either. Such a lovely place with lovely people. We would definitely go again. The weather was good considering it was January/February (17-19C) and although I needed a cardigan, we didn't have to wear coats. PROS: close enough to the airport. Plenty of spots to eat along the sea front. Bathroom was clean. The view was fab!! I can't speak for other rooms on other floors but our room/suite on the 9th floor was really lovely (see pics). CONS: We was told room service would cost £13 to have whatever we ordered from the bar menu delivered to our room. So we ordered at the bar and came back down to collect it. Minor niggles: we couldn't figure out how to control the heating so during the night we got really hot but as it was January, it didn't really matter much. I'm not sure if I would take the kids as there wouldn't be much for them to do except go the beach everyday, which isn't a bad thing I suppose. We did drive past a water park with slides etc. on our way back to the airport, it was around a 10 min drive away. Airport transfers to and from the hotel -round trip , booked via the hotel was 41euros (quoted by hotel). Booked privately via a third party site it was 17 euros round trip (for the both of us so 8.50 each).…
Fabolous hotel,very relaxing,lovely staff,lovely breakfast,easy parking,right in the middle of town,lovely restaurants near,bus station across the road,we always stay here,can’t wait to go back,room 504
Great location literally round the corner from the beach/prom/restaurants. Bus station is about 3 mins walk away. This hotel is not expensive, and you get what you pay for. Its more a 3 star then 4, but that is not a complaint. For the price it is very very good value, in a superb location with free parking in the service road outside. Rooms spacious, very clean, great maid service and good buffet breakfast. Spacious reception with comfy sofas, books, magazines. Small but adequate bar. Small outside pool (we saw them checking the water quality daily though no one used it in January). The spa is not really a spa, a few gym machines, steam room, seen better days but we did not even know they had one so it made no difference to us. They need to get their morning breakfast staff organised. Towards the end of our stay they were down from three to one harassed staff member who said they did not pay their staff well so no one stayed. The next day there were no staff and the poor cook was struggling to manage with putting food out when the cavalry arrived in the form of what we assume was an ex staff member as she hadn't been there over the weeks before and we recognised her from two years ago when our father was here. All in all its in a great location and great value.…
I gave this hotel 3 stars because I think it is a truer reflection of its status. If you picked this hotel because you wanted a four star hotel, you will be very disappointed. The hotel has positives and negatives which I will list in turn. Positives: The sea view was amazing! The proximity to the beach, most of the hotel staff were nice, there was a car park right in front of the hotel and the breakfast was quite nice. The hotel was also relatively clean. Now on to the negatives: The hotel is surrounded by some run down/derelict buildings, the hotel needs updating with worn out carpets and furniture, the choice of furniture and decor looked basic and cheap e.g the varnish on tables in our room were stained/ marked with coffee cup stains and the curtains looked worn. The ceiling in our room looked like it had suffered a leak previously and had not been redecorated. Our bed was two singles pushed together to make a double. My biggest issue was the ill-fitting toilet seat with scratches! We also had a dissatisfactory exchange with one of the hotel staff when we used their laundry service. It took longer than we were promised and when we went to enquire, the time they said it would be ready kept changing. Overall, I thought it was okay and that is only because of the price we paid for our stay. …
i had a week at hotel breakfast only , on arrival not the best welcome, I had to leave my cc details or £80 deposit , my room was freezing with balcony door wide open , i could not get heating working , there way to put it on is you have to tell reception to put it on and off, and you need a card in as you enter for it to stay on if you go out and want to keep room warm no the best thing on arriving 10 pm at night to sort out ,as they dont tell how to get heating o,n till you go back to reception to find out, breakfast was ok , good room service every day , heating was noisy , and kept coming back on all night despite telling them in the morning,
