We had been in the Castello this weekend. We had the tour to the winery and wine yards. Ines was our guide, she was amazing, we felt in love with her. Later we had wine tasting again with Nadia and Ines, it was truly a pleasure listen from them the history about the castle and about chianti. You can see from their eyes the passion and love that they have for the wine and for their job. We left a piece of our heart with them. We also had the wine tasting with Leonardo Romanelli, he was so magical, and a special thank you to John, the owner which make us feel so welcome in every single second that we had in his castle. We truly recommend to have either a dinner or a wine tasting there 🥰 definitely was a great weekend: good food, amazing wine, and very special service.
If I could give Castello Vichiomaggio 6 stars out of 5 I would. Everything is perfect with this place. The rooms are super nice, the staff really friendly and the view is unreal. We've stayed at a number of luxury hotels worldwide but this is just something else. If you stay here the wine tasting and cellar tour is a must!
Great value for money. Nice clean rooms, excellent modern showers and bathrooms. Being a curious plumber I fixed the basin pop up under the sink whilst checking out the foreign plumbing, as us plumbers do. Don’t tell me you don’t. I told the lady on the desk who I think was the manageress and she gave me a bottle of wine. nice touch. Also not too pretentious on the clientele front. Cracking pool area with fab views of the countryside. And a reasonable breakfast as well. Didn’t eat here so can’t comment. Often one thinks by spending big you will actually get quality but at £160 Euro a night I think you will struggle to find a better price around Greve. Also free water every day in room plus tea facility’s. Very important if your English. 10/10 all round.
In late July / early August of 2019, my partner and I were fortunate enough to stay 2 nights at Castello Vicchiomaggio. To start, the the accommodations and views at this beautiful little castle are second to none. It is truly so serene, scenic, and very romantic. This was just a small part of what made this place so special. The food (especially on the Wednesday night dinner / winery tour) was exceptional, with amazing service. Of course, the wine was world-class. We even won a free bottle after the tour for answering a fun trivia question! Naturally, we ended up taking 4 bottles of wine and olive oil back home. But please allow my next few sentences to really sum up our experience at Castello Vicchiomaggio. Prior to arriving, we boarded a bus from Florence to Greve (which conveniently stopped right in front of the Castello Vicchiomaggio gift shop). Unfortunately, I left my backpack containing my passport on this bus. I was so disappointed at the time! Upon check-in, We expressed our frustration with losing my passport to the woman at the front desk named Federica. She jumped into action. Suddenly, the ENTIRE wonderful staff fell into place trying to locate my passport for me. We were connected with Nadia and Ines in the wine gift shop who took our information and promised to help us. Ines took time out of her day and busy schedule to personally call the director of the Italian bus company asking if there was anything he could do to help. This gentleman was able to locate my passport and coordinate the bus so that it could return to our location in order for me to retrieve my lost passport. WOW! This was the highlight of our ENTIRE 3-week trip to Italy. We cannot thank the staff at Castello Vicchiomaggio enough. Federica, Nadia, and especially Ines - you ladies are WONDERFUL people and made our stay at Castello Vicchiomaggio SO special! To everyone reading this - if you are considering a stay in Tuscany, stop looking ... this is your spot. My partner and I will return to this place for the rest of our lives! Thank you, thank you, thank you!…
We had a wine tasting at the Vicchio Maggio wine shop and then went up the hill to have a fabulous formal dinner with additional wines. It was a multi course meal in Italian style and ever bit of it was wonderful as was the dining hall of the castle.
