Half way between Florence and Siena, the estate extends for over 200 hectares in the hills of the Chianti region. Vignamaggio overlooks a countryside landscape, of forests, vineyards and ancient hamlets scattered about on the surrounding hills. At the core of the farm is the Renaissance villa, surrounded by Italian style gardens, which fill the spaces between rows of cypresses, vines and olive trees. A working farm since 1404, Vignamaggio has been cultivating the vines and producing wine for over 600 years. Open to the public since 1987, the historical dwelling offers first class accommodation with rooms, suites and apartments in the estate's farmhouses.

My boyfriend and I came to meet my American friends here for the night and it exceeded my expectations. It's in the most gorgeous setting with an incredible view. The staff are lovely and friendly. We stayed in the little apartments, which we were interconnecting if needed, so

This is the second time I've stayed here - and this time I brought friends. I just love the beauty and feel of the property, plus it feels worlds away from anything but it's just an hour south of Florence. The staff is really nice, the hotel is very quiet, there are tons of

I've visited Vignamaggio several times over the past 20 years and considered it one of the most inviting places in the world. In many ways, it still is. However, in the past couple years, it has grown to acquire two nearby properties, Case al Prato (5 km away) and Case

Dear JK, Thank you for your review. Yes, we are having many renovation works here at Vignamaggio and we are sorry that they are not to your liking. We only choose the best of the italian design. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again so that you can see our property once all the works will be finished. Kind regards, Claudia - Vignamaggio Team

We both have been to Italy before, but most of our time was spent in the cities and tourist areas. This time, we enjoyed a week of R&R in Chianti, near Greve. We stayed at the Vignamaggio and we were not disappointed. Luckily we arrive during the harvesting of grapes for

This place seemed nice to us last time we are in Italy, which is why we chose to stay here on our latest trip. HOWEVER, looks can be deceiving I guess. First off, the property is overrun with mosquitos. Even in our rooms - all the windows were closed but my toddler son was

Dear Shagha T, Though we understand your frustration and how awful it must have been being stuck inside an elevator, we feel the need to express our point of view also. The elevator was recently renovated and we never got the key from the installator - up to then no key was necessary to unblock the system, we just had to push a button until the cabin reached the floor. What looked to you an infinite time being inside, actually was just the time for the assistance to drive from Florence as it was clear after a few attempts operated by our maintenance staff that there was no other way to let you out. Regarding breakfast we obviously did not intend to give a sort of economic compensation offering it, but since you did not have it that morning we thought it was kind to deduct the amount from the bill even if included in the room rate. We are very sorry about the trouble and also for the mosquitos issue that you mention. This year there was an exceptional quantity and our interventions were not sufficient; we are an organic farm subjected to several controls and we are allowed to use natural remedies only that apparently couldn't solve the problem. We hope that you continue visiting Vignamaggio and we'll be happy to offer our best treatment on your return. Best regards, Claudia - Vignamaggio Team

Dear Allison, the easiest solution for you would be to rent a car at the airport in Fiumicino (ROME) and drive in direction Florence. On our website (Where we Are) you will find some useful information. We wish this was helpful, Best regards Giulia - Vignamaggio Team

What are your room descriptions?
Dear Lindsay, sorry for this late answer! We are on our social network daily (IG, Facebook and Twitter), but not that often on Tripadvisor. Sorry again. You can come by taxi to Vignamaggio or by bus to Greve in Chianti. The bus starts from the SITA station, close to the main train station SANTA MARIA NOVELLA. You can organize a taxi from Greve in Chianti or direclty from Florence, searching Chianti Taxi ( I tried to write the HTML there, but Tripadvisor doesn't allow this). Hope this was helpful! Have a nice day - All the best Giulia Vignamaggio Team
