Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We chose this hotel as it’s located on the motorway heading west which suited our onward journey. The hotel is in a pleasant site with a large reception area with a restaurant and bar located in this area. The hotel has leisure facilities but as these were closed during our visit I cannot review this area. The hotel, both the general areas and rooms is clean and in good condition. However, for a 4* hotel it is on the basic end of the scale. The room had no iron and ironing board and no safe. The hospitality tray had only very basic tea and coffee with no options available. The en suite had no bath sheets (just very skimpy bath towels), no shower caps or tissues. The toilet roll holder had a missing edge so the roll fell off when in use. The breakfast was basic in the extreme - nothing at the tables you collected knives forks etc at the buffet. The selection was very poor, no breads (other than for toast) no cold selection of meats, cheeses etc. The coffee was from a flask and the tea from a hot water tap with teabags (no choice) available beside the tap. The hot selection was OK but I had to wait until a member of staff finished clearing tables to serve me. The bar food was of a good standard with very good sized portions but again all on the cheap and cheerful end of the scale. You had to order and pay at the bar and get a numbered sign for your table . Judging by the number of works vans in the car park I got the impression that the hotel had a large number of commercial guests.

Started badly lift from car Park buttons missing on panel, dangerous. On checking in reception required a credit card in case of damage Room was large and clean but basic, toilet seat cheap and moved when sat on, cheap loo roll. Only window was a patio door opening onto a shared balcony, can't leave open at night anyone could walk in, then we heard people running up and down outside the window late on. Notes telling guests not to charge drills! No microwave allowed! Self service cafe not a restaurant with no service or serviettes. Full of work men. Pool and gym closed but no reduction in price . Stay at a premier inn and use a beefeater it would be better than this hotel.

Definitely not a 4 star While the staff were present and the food facilities also good , the rooms are defiantly not 4 star , 2 wardrobes with no self or rail to hang anything , wondered what the purpose of the wardrobes if they can’t be used . I battery in the safe so it could not be used , air conditioner unit on the wall but could also not use .toiletries very limited , the rooms need updating , have had better at premier inn :

Stayed here recently for a night out with work mates. The room I stayed in did not reflect 4 star hotel. The press doors were falling off. I couldn’t put the air con on as it was far too noisy. Very basic room for the price for one night without breakfast. The only positives I have are the staff and for them accommodating me checking in before 3pm.

Having pushed our way through a group of smoking teens outside the front door, the first words the (I assume) duty manager said to us were “€149”. No greetings, no polite small talk, just a request for the money. The kind of thing you sometimes get when you’ve booked through a hotel app and not direct, although in this case we had booked direct. The room was found easily and was in all fairness, massive. The lights worked and the television worked. The bed was bloody awful, about as cheap as its possible to be, the towels small, the shower barely earned the title, cheap nasty toilet seats. The pillows were adequate. We had booked a double room but were given a room with four beds. All in all a cheap and nasty hotel where one felt intimidated as you entered and exited and at no point was it a pleasant visit.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough for business and family stays. The conference rooms are ideal for meeting and training courses. The staff are very friendly and always aim to be helpful and please. The office are great for ease of booking, the restaurant/bar staff are fantastic. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced, definitely look at the mid week dinner deals. I’ve never been disappointed with the standard of food or the service. The location is ideal and is very handy to stop for dinner either inbound or outbound to Dublin, handy bus ride into city. Thank you to all the staff for the hard work over the years ti make my business and leisure stays enjoyable.

I booked The Green Isle Hotel at the end of May for a family trip down to Dublin. When I arrived to check in on 10th July I wanted to pre book the swimming pool for the family for the next day. I was told that the swimming area had been closed and that I would have received an email telling me this. I was gobsmacked to find this out as this was the reason why we picked the Green Isle as our choice of accommodation. I was told the only thing I could do was to cancel my booking.. I explained that we had come from Belfast and the last thing we were wanting to do was to drive that journey home again with young children. A Manager (Masum) came to apologise about the situation and to check the hotel’s computer to see if I had received the email.. to which I hadn’t and STILL have not received anything from the hotel a week later.. To say we were disappointed was an understatement especially the children who just love getting to the hotel pool. The only thing that Masum was able to offer was a dessert/ drink as a compensation. He had mentioned possibly a 20% of our next stay but the hotel hasn’t made any contact about this.. We got allocated a room on the same floor as our family which was good until I realised that we had been given a room that the window didn’t open and the door didn’t lock!! This was another dig in the guts for our time away and felt like we had been given this room as a punishment. Overall I think that this was extremely poor service from what’s supposed to be a 4⭐️ hotel..

Myself, wife and two kids arrived for a weekend we saved heavily for. A lot of different elements happened which I would of excused but the straw that broke the camels back was when they put sheets on our bed that were wet. We informed the staff of this the first night and they offered to change our room but we declined as both our children were asleep. We kept our kids out of this particularl bed. We were given a table cloth to put on the bed instead of a sheet. The second night the issue was still there, the sheets were still damp/wet we called reception and the porter felt the sheets and agreed they were wet and had housekeeping change them. When the sheets were pulled back the table cloth that was given to us the night prior were still on the bed which proves they never changed the sheets in the first place. I then lodged a formal complaint to the hotel in the following days as on the days this occurred no manager was on duty. The response I received by ‘management’ was disgraceful. No care for the customer. While they did offer 50% off my next stay I respectfully rejected this as I do not believe they change the bed sheets after each stay. I requested 50% refund on my previous stay which they rejected. Do not stay in this hotel unless you want dirt on your cups and spoons, pubic hair and stains in the bath and Wet bed sheets on your bed.

What a disappointing end to a fabulous holiday in Ireland. Stayed for a night before an early ferry crossing. Staff at reception were surly, abrupt and unhelpful - definitely not typical of the Irish hospitality we'd experienced elsewhere throughout our trip. Room was boiling but it wasn't possible to open the windows due to the noise from the heating/ ventilation pipes below. Didn't get a wink of sleep despite usually being able to sleep anywhere. Overall, very poor value for money (it wasn't cheap! ). Will not be recommending it to anyone.
