Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a pleasure to stay in Fjalar in superior room, which was perfect for our needs. (2adults+1child) Room was super cozy and modern and the we slept so well, beds 10+👌🏼! We also used the sauna&pool. It was so relaxing and what a great sauna bath! I prefer this instead if big Hotels as you feel like home. Well the staff is so welcoming that you are like part of the family. And what a history hidden to this place!! I highly recommend this place when booking a place to stay while in Salo.❤️

Greatly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Fjalar! It's tucked away back in a quiet neighborhood and has a beautiful feel to it. The rooms were very nice and clean and the breakfast each morning is quite delicious. My experiences with the staff were always warm and welcoming and they did all they could to accommodate any needs during the stay.

Stayed only for one night but could have imagine staying for a full week there. Service, breakfast and rooms 5/5. Free parking and a swimming pool with a possibility to have sauna. Located in quiet suburban area, but a walking distance to city center. Nice change for big hotel chains. This one has personality.

I booked this hotel blind from the net for my mother, but I took the trouble to have a look before she arrived and I liked what I saw. Located amidst trees on a hill overlooking the centre of the town, I really liked the location - quiet and peaceful with a room with a terrace overlooking a garden with apple trees. A smal inside pool and common sauna were available. The staff were friendly and willing to accommodate in guests in small foibles like milk in the cold drinks cabinet where guests could make coffe for themselves out of hours. My mother, coming from an English village, thoroughly enjoyed herself here, noting particularly that the peace and quiet was so restful and the service was excellent. She had a wonderful time and was sorry to have return home.

A bit off the city center you can find this family run(?) hotel, which is easy to arrive by car and has free parking. When you enter the hotel and a dog comes to greet you, you know that you are not in an ordinary chain hotel. Instead you are in a homey place which offers you really big clean rooms, a small indoor swimming pool and friendly staff. Breakfast wasn't especially original, though. It was rather standard on Finnish scale. There isn't much in the vicinity of the hotel, since it's located in a quiet residential neighborhood. But it's a good stop for families, at least for one night. There was some noise coming through ventilation system from another room (we heard clearly how two women were laughing), but fortunately they didn't keep noise for too long. Note that some parts of the hotel are obviously accessible only by stairs.

I stayed here for some weeks 5 years ago in the summer, but I still couldn't forget it, was memorable. It was the first hotel I ever stayed within Finland at that time. The landlady - worth to mention that it's a family-owned hotel - was such a nice and kind person as well as all the staff, I agree with everyone who says it's just feel like home. Rooms were really nice too - I stayed in 2 different ones - I especially liked the one with the entrance to the nice green garden, enjoyed the sun there for a while. Loved the fresh, home made bakeries each morning and the decoration of the common places overall, were really cozy. The hotel itself is not so crowded, with not too many rooms and peace & quiet. They even had a historical collection of Nokia phones/articles on one of the corridors, I found it as a really good idea :) I'm not sure if they still have it. There was also an indoor swimming pool next to the saunas, but I only tried the latter. As I can recall the landlady had a cute dog, who loved to be around as well :) This year I had to go back to Salo for a weekend, but I couldn't get a room unfortunately in Fjalar, anyway I took a walk there from the center, just to remember the good old memories ;) Thank you!

This is one of the friendliest hotels I have stayed in for a long time. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners. The rooms have everything you need, including free wifi, and are clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, and the common areas are very welcoming. Perfect for a short business trip to Salo.
