I booked this hotel blind from the net for my mother, but I took the trouble to have a look before she arrived and I liked what I saw. Located amidst trees on a hill overlooking the centre of the town, I really liked the location - quiet and peaceful with a room with a terrace overlooking a garden with apple trees. A smal inside pool and common sauna were available. The staff were friendly and willing to accommodate in guests in small foibles like milk in the cold drinks cabinet where guests could make coffe for themselves out of hours. My mother, coming from an English village, thoroughly enjoyed herself here, noting particularly that the peace and quiet was so restful and the service was excellent. She had a wonderful time and was sorry to have return home.

A bit off the city center you can find this family run(?) hotel, which is easy to arrive by car and has free parking. When you enter the hotel and a dog comes to greet you, you know that you are not in an ordinary chain hotel. Instead you are in a homey place which offers you really big clean rooms, a small indoor swimming pool and friendly staff. Breakfast wasn't especially original, though. It was rather standard on Finnish scale. There isn't much in the vicinity of the hotel, since it's located in a quiet residential neighborhood. But it's a good stop for families, at least for one night. There was some noise coming through ventilation system from another room (we heard clearly how two women were laughing), but fortunately they didn't keep noise for too long. Note that some parts of the hotel are obviously accessible only by stairs.

I stayed here for some weeks 5 years ago in the summer, but I still couldn't forget it, was memorable. It was the first hotel I ever stayed within Finland at that time. The landlady - worth to mention that it's a family-owned hotel - was such a nice and kind person as well as all the staff, I agree with everyone who says it's just feel like home. Rooms were really nice too - I stayed in 2 different ones - I especially liked the one with the entrance to the nice green garden, enjoyed the sun there for a while. Loved the fresh, home made bakeries each morning and the decoration of the common places overall, were really cozy. The hotel itself is not so crowded, with not too many rooms and peace & quiet. They even had a historical collection of Nokia phones/articles on one of the corridors, I found it as a really good idea :) I'm not sure if they still have it. There was also an indoor swimming pool next to the saunas, but I only tried the latter. As I can recall the landlady had a cute dog, who loved to be around as well :) This year I had to go back to Salo for a weekend, but I couldn't get a room unfortunately in Fjalar, anyway I took a walk there from the center, just to remember the good old memories ;) Thank you!

This is one of the friendliest hotels I have stayed in for a long time. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners. The rooms have everything you need, including free wifi, and are clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, and the common areas are very welcoming. Perfect for a short business trip to Salo.

It feels like a retreat: small, quiet and cozy. Very friendly staff. The place has so many layers, at first sight it seems average, then as you start unwrapping this little place it then unwraps all its interesting features. The owners must love design, if you know a brand or two in nordic design, this place has it all, details that are just pleasant to the eye. also a decent breakfast, finally nespresso! can't stand the "dirty dishwater" coffees anymore. It has a 'proud corridor' which l explored downstairs, showing its glorious past as this location was once home to giant Nokia, so the corridor had a summary of great past memorabilia... and just as l was about to hit the bed... the other wing revealed an indoor pool! as cozy as the rest of the place. room were a bit dated, but why would you want to spend time in your room? will be back again! thank you

Very clean, large rooms, a small sauna area and changing rooms. A common area which includes a sitting area, fireplace and indoor pool. Pool is effectively in a hall between the reception and the rooms. Breakfast was also very good with a selection of hot/cold cuts, hot drinks and juices etc... WIFI connectivity is strong and staff very helpful and they answered emails in detail before our arrival. I would recommend renting a car as getting here from Helsinki is expensive with a number of changes both if using buses or trains. You will still need a taxi for the last bit of your transfer. Renting a car turned out to bee cheaper (especially in our case as we were only staying 1 night so just needed the car for a day). Reception is not open 24 hours but you get a pin code to open the door if arriving outside opening hours and you find an envelope with all details waiting for you
