Everything you would want a ski and leisure hotel to be - good service, attentive staff, food good, great rooms and spa, nice spaces and ambience EXCEPT terrible band in the evening. The same band in the bar most evenings pushing out loud, very loud, classics, with no tempering of volume. They were obviously appreciated by some, but so many people disappeared after dinner it couldn’t be everyone liked them. And every evening? And by the way, at tea time the musac was also loud, Blume controlled by the barman.

This is an elegant grand building with many original features and a sense of history from the days when Bad Gastein was one of the most fashionable resorts in Europe. There is a good atmosphere in the Ritz bar with its high ornate ceiling and reasonable bar prices ( for Austria) . Rooms can be on the small size and are traditionally furnished but with upgraded bathrooms . Room cleaning was excellent and tea and coffee facilities in the room were kept fully stocked. The swimming pool is small but spotlessly clean and the saunas are single sex, spacious and modern . Outstandingly good food is offered every mealtime with attentive and personal service and a varied menu to suit all tastes . With the volume of dishes served in a dining room of this size sometimes main courses arrived at less than perfect temperature but flavours, presentation and quality were all consistently good. Music in the Ritz bar was particularly good one night when the band had a most versatile female singer .

We went here for dinner with a family. 40 euros per person and little kids for free. For a 5 course dinner, with a great buffet and several main courses to choose from. Besides very friendly service l. The hotel has a great atmosphere with live music and a playing corner for kids with loads of toys. A special experience in a special place.

I have stayed here many times, and had a drink in the old bar many more. It has an old fashioned style, as do its various rooms, which feels just right in this ski resort which was once the most fashionable in Europe (see my travel article in the Daily Telegraph.) However, the iconic photos on the wall aren't only of past guests. I walked out of the bathroom where there is a photo of a Four Weddings And A Funeral-era Hugh Grant, to bump into present day Hugh Grant in the bar just afterwards!

We had a week family holiday staying at the hotel at Christmas 2022. The hotel was excellent, in particular the spa facilities and restaurant. It is not the cheapest but we felt that it was actually good value for money and worth the cost. The service overall was excellent. All staff were very friendly and spoke English (in fact everything was bilingual). We had rooms close to reception and although there was some occasional corridor noise from passing guests, this wasn't an issue. The rooms were spacious and well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel is split across different buildings and several floors, but it was easy to get around with several lifts. There were 2 spa areas (one for over 16s only). They were both very good, spotless and very relaxing spaces and great to use after skiing. The pool was not designed for fitness swimming though. We had a half board deal. Breakfast was a substantial buffet with a full range of options. Dinner was 5 courses, with a buffet for appetizers and the rest was waiter served with a choice of mains. The quality was excellent and we were allocated the same table for each day in a quiet area. Our waiter (Goran) was brilliant and always made us feel welcome. One comment was that water is not provided at dinner and was expensive (so we took our own). The hotel is a short flat walk (c 5 mins) from the ski lift. We used the ski hire and store next to the lift which meant we didn't have to carry the equipment and there is a supermarket only a short walk further. We enjoyed our stay so much we are already thinking of returning.

Noisy evenings ended with thieves steeling ski boots in a ski boot room, allegedly secured with CCTV. However reception staff was unable to help and/ check CCTV. If you cherish your possessions a d want a safe and peaceful hotel look somewhere else.

Everything was perfect except for the pool. It was a bit small and the “room” of the pool was very warm (almost 40 degrees Celsius) and humid. But the staff was very friendly and professional, the food was very tasty.

Wonderful staff throughout the Hotel, who worked tirelessly as an oiled team having their guests as their top priority! The policy of sitting at the same table in the restaurant all week, was not at all to our liking, even though we had booked a half board stay. The menu was international, we would much more have preferred an Austrian one. The cutlery at the buffet was unfortunately often dirty and sticky. We used handkerchiefs whenever approaching it. Surprisingly the large hotel only seemed to have guests from Sweden and Finland. They seemed to travel by bus daytime and fall to bed or go out thereafter. The rooms were very comfortable and clean although we missed hooks in the bathrooms to hang up towels etc. Overall a pleasant stay, perfectly located and we hope for this very historic hotel to be able to greet many more generations to come!

Had a very pleasant evening meal as a non-resident. Table d'hote with limited choices but well done. I thought the tables were set far too close together for the present times. There appeared to be enough room to give us all a bit more space. The hotel itself is a nice building to walk into with plenty of fine period things to look at. A building with some serious history.
