We had a fabulous stay at Casa Cubana. The rooms are beautiful: spacious, stylish, clean. Extreme good value for money! The patio with hammocks and pool a hidden gem. But the real gem was the team: Esther: you can't wish for a better host! Helpful, accurate, energetic, funny and kind! Such a beautiful person! Andy: part of the team. He helped us with all our transfers: he's a very good and cautious driver and took us on a great tour. He's such a reliable and kind and great person! Hazel: cooked us great breakfasts and kept the rooms immaculately clean. We came back to Casa Cubana a couple of times during our 7 week trip in Nicaragua because we loved it so much! Thank you Esther, Andy, Hazel and Bella for our unforgettable time in Granada! ❤
Casa Cubana is a beautiful boutique hotel located in Granada. It is just a short walk away from Park Central and all the shopping and restaurants, but far enough away so that it is quiet at night. Andy and Ester were wonderful. They know the area like the back of their hands, and provided solid advice about local eateries and attractions. Ester arranged two tours for us which I highly recommend. One was the boat tour with Vladmir, where we toured the islets and saw all kinds of birds and even some monkeys. The other was a a trip to Mombocho Volcano (we did the Puma trail, moderately challenging) which included a tour of the coffee plantation. The hotel itself is authentic Nicaraguan and has real character. The main area where guests hang out has a cute little pool in a tropical courtyard to cool off in after a long day of sightseeing. Some turtles live there and so does Bella the friendly dog, and hummingbirds were frequent visitors to the hibiscus. The breakfast area and kitchen are very nice and Hazel cooks a great breakfast every morning. She made something different every day we were there. There is lots of original artwork, and I loved our room. I usually have trouble sleeping when traveling south because of heat or a too loud air conditioner, but this was not an issue here. The room temperature was comfortable and when I did use the A/C once, it was a quiet one. Our friends we were traveling with had a room upstairs overlooking the pool, and it was also a fantastic, roomy and charming room. Restaurants: The food is generally good in Granada, and my favorite place we went in walking distance of Casa Cubana were The Garden Cafe, The Bistro Estrada, Bocadillos Tapas Kitchen & Bar, and I loved La Frontera, where they play classic rock. . There is also a great cafe nearby called Maria Elena's. Ester and Andy really put in effort to help us get the most out of this vibrant Colonial city. I highly recommend both Granada and the Casa Cubana.…
One of the most beautiful and outstanding colonial houses / pensions we ever met (+50 countries visited), Casa Cubana from Granada, Nicaragua is a “little guilty pleasure” garnished with top colonial decorations, nice bedrooms, lushy open pool, gorgeous open bar. But above all, the maximum overall rating - 10 on the line - goes to its remarkable host and manager, Esther Naegeli. Thanks for tours to Masaya volcano and Cocibolca lake for kayaking. Granada together with Leon (Nicaragua) and Antigua (Guatemala) are the top 3 colonial cities of Central America to be visited.
This was an amazing stay and felt more staying with friends than at a hotel. Esther, the manager, was extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable, breakfast fantastic and the entire hotel radiates a wonderful charm. I regret that I could only stay for one night.
We had the pleasure of spending 3 memorable nights at this wonderful place run by Esther. She, Andy and Hazel were fantastic in explaining everything to do in Granada and the surrounding area and lining up tours if need be. The accommodations were lovely and centered around a small landscaped courtyard with a relaxing pool. Breakfast varied daily and were excellent. Clean and accommodating and great for the price. Esther, a Canadian, of course speaks English & Spanish as well does the staff. We definitely felt like we were family — especially having sweet Bella around to get a little loving & have her belly rubbed. We definitely will be back if we ever find our way back to Nicaragua and highly recommend staying with them. Gary & Cassie - USA
