Detailed Reviews
We stayed here primarily because it’s an accor hotel and we got a great price but having stayed there now as well as checking out a few other hotels I’m so glad we did. The location of the hotel is a little bit away from the main beach areas but you can hire a bike or jump in a taxi truck to get anywhere quickly.
The breakfast buffet is ok although there are a number of local places around if you want a change. We stayed in a pool villa and that was the highlight of the hotel . The room was nice and private, big and had a great pool and jacuzzi. The air con worked great and a big enough fridge to store a few drinks.
All in all this place a perfect place to set yourself up while you explore the island and the room is a little piece of paradise to come back to. Will hopefully be back soon

You really feel like you came to a secret place in the jungle. You walk through the luxerus reseption, passed the open dining room and the pool before you come to the privat beach an the beach bar/restaurant.
We ordered 9 months in advance and got two very nice rooms on the 3rd floor with a beautiful ocean view.
The service here is very good, nice service minded staff that spoke fairly good English.
We stayed for New Years and had a very nice celebration together with the other guests. We ha nice fireworks and OK music. Thai bands are normally not very good, but this band had some good musicians even if the singing was so-so.
Breakfast was grate and had a wide variety of food. The food in the beach restaurant was also very good and we loved the happy hour from 2 o`clock pm.
The hotel was full booked with guests from different corners of the world. People from Holland, Germany, France, England, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, USA, Thailand and Russia was there.
Normally Russian people in Thailand are rude and loud, but here everybody was behaving nicely – except for one Russian couple that was loudly unhappy with the room and made a big scene in the reception.
There was also a number of families with children, but they were all behaving so the atmosphere weas quite pleasant. We were also happy there was no drunk people present.
There was also some things we were not so happy about;
The beds were on the floor and a struggle to get up from. The matrass was however very good and we had a good night sleep.
The water pressure was also grate and at first we had plenty of warm water. After the first day our water heater broke down and the never managed to fix it before we left. The electricity also went out several times. When checking out we asked for a reduction in price to compensate for the lac of warm water. The young receptionist clamed she could not make this decision because the manager was not at work this day.
We were not very impressed by this answer because we payed full price and did not get full value.
This could have been a perfect stay, but we believe the lack of maintenance eventually will hurt the reputation of this lovely located hotel.

The Mercure Koh Chang Hideaway Hotel:
I stayed here for two nights October 2021 and I was very pleased with everything the hotel had to offer.
I thought the resort was nicely designed there was a reasonable size swimming pool which kept the same depth of water, and next to the pool was the beach front where there was plenty of loungers to be had a beach bar was open for various refreshments the beach had good quality sand and no pebbles. My room type was: Standard with King Size bed.
My room was a nice size and there was a large bed which was very comfortable, inside the wardrobe there is a safe deposit box, 2 umbrellas, and slippers, with enough coat hanger too. In the bathroom was a good size bath a nice shower cubicle with a rain shower head as well as a smaller one,
Everything was clean and nicely laid out and refreshed every day. Outside the room was no more than a very small garden area which was completely close in on all sides.
I did not have the breakfast so I cannot comment but it was a buffet version. We did have our evening meals in the restaurant and they were tasty and there was a reasonable selection in their menu. The price I thought was expensive but that is quite the norm when dinning in many hotels.
The hotel site is in a fairly quiet area as you would need to get a ride to where there was a good choice of facilities, but if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of a noisy resort then pick the Macure koh Chang to be fare I was here in late October and many places was still closed.
The swimming pool and the area surrounding it are very nice. This was my first stay here and I have been satisfied with my stay.
The staffs were very friendly and helpful. I have stayed at The Macure within this group at other resorts and have always been satisfied but I would not book this particular resort again because where it is situated, other than that it is a nice hotel.

Ok resort but bit old, would need some renovation.
Most probably we won’t stay here again even we would come back to Koh Chang, it is the only Accor property on the island and we do have higher status at Accor loyalty program.
The Pool Villa wasn’t that big or nice we expected. We though that inside square metres are over 100m2 but it was the whole space including the pool area outside. The room itself was only a bit bigger than a normal hotel room.
The private pool was nice but jacuzzi was pretty useless.
I like hard beds but this one was something extreme. Never before we have slept on that hard bed, it was a long way too hard and also pillows were too big and uncomfortable.
Housekeeping department was badly organised and quality of cleaning was completely under every standards. We were very unhappy how they cleaned our room during our whole 9 days stay. Much under than any Accor property before.
We also complained about that after few nights but it didn’t seems to help.
Major problems also with Planet21 program.
Breakfast was ok but unfortunately exactly same in every morning. Or not exactly, some of Thai hot dishes had a little bit differencies day by day.
Anyhow we got quite bored in 9 days.
Still I have to give special thanks to restaurant supervisor Mr. Lek who helped us to have real plain youghurt almost every morning, which made our mornings much better.
The General Pool area was pretty nice and pool is pretty big. Unfotunately sun beds were uncomfortable and they don’t have sun umbrellas at pool area and only a few at beach area.
Pool bar was nice but expensive. During happy hours the prices were about the same than at nearby restaurants normally.
The neighbourhood is nice and quiet.
There are many good local restaurants nearby.

We visited here Nov-Dec 2020 during the Covid pandemic. I originally booked a room with a sea view. On arrival we found that the room was on the third floor with no lifts. When we entered the room I realized that the bed was a mattress on the floor, Japanese style. As I am in my late 60's and have trouble with my knees, the room was not for me. We ask for another room similar, however, all the rooms and villas fronting onto the beach had similar bedding. So, we had to settle for a smaller pool side room away from the beach, which had standard ensembles beds.
The room was OK , however, was not worth the money we paid, considering at our previous resort we had a bigger room with a spa and was a beach front room.
The resort was trending toward a Japanese theme and the rooms had modern hard furniture, very un-comfortable chairs and the bed was lumpy. The food at breakfast was to a high standard and was the same standard at the restaurant.
For me, the main pool was uninviting due to the yukky green color and was fairly shallow. The beach is very small and limited sand areas. The staff were all very good.
Overall the resort was looking a little shabby, maybe due to the lack of tourist during the pandemic. For me, it didn't have the same appeal as our last resort stop on Koh Chang. If your over 60, I would not recommend this resort as it is not user friendly for the elderly.
I would recommend this resort for younger generations.

My first trip after Thailand since the Covid lockdown, and I believe it was the first weekend this resort had reopened its doors.
I am really not a beach/island type of person but was sick of Bangkoks buildings so to took a week at the Hideaway, by myself to refreshen. I did know that I had an upgraded room waiting for me, which made the trip from Bangkok a bit easier. Walking into the room and to see the amazing ocean view, was really astonishing and breathtaking.
I feel the resort staff was just as great and made my stay easy and I can strongly recommend the resort. When the world opens up again, I will definitely take my own family here, my young nephews and nieces will love it for sure!
Would like to end this with emphasizing, if what you are looking for is a calm beach holiday, this resort is absolutely worth its price.

More good things than disappointed about this hotel.
It is beautiful hotel in a green location and not quite far from Bangkok you can still set yourself miles apart with an amazing place. Everyone had a smile on their face and did everything they could to make us feel welcome. The check in process are very fast.
I'm accor plus Platinum member and I can access my benefit to get an upgrade to Pool Villas. The rooms are so big comfortable with nice private pool and a bit broken Jacuzzied and incredibly well designed.
I met some problem in my room but anything you need is a quick ask away to all staff member. But all problem are done in another day in late afternoon. That mean our trip waste with some problem nearly 80% from 100% period during my trip.
We try Buffet Pasta Night Accor Plus is entitled to a 10% discount, but a lot of guests interesting and stay at the hotel we order Pasta it's may take takes 30 minutes to wait for each dish. But if anyone staying here recommend trying Thai food. I can't believe they can cook real Thai taste not fake taste for foreigner.
For Happy Hour here, it is 14.00 - 19.00 and who eats Buffet will get 1 get 1 promotion until 22.00.
But!!! 1 free 1 drink must be free on the same menu only so I really never met this rule with other property before about the happy our 1 get 1 free.
For an Accor member. If there is any problem you can share any problem with them any time. If they knows the problem they will take care and solve immediately.
We get offer for 2 hour free Kayak that's so fun.
I am happy to go into much greater detail. I recommend this hotel without reservation to anyone go as much as you possibly can Koh Chang and Mercure is still our choice.

Traveling to Koh Chang on Songkran Day, if the Accor Group uses benefits, it must be considered.
Mercure Koh Chang Hideaway booked a Standard room but was upgraded to a Deluxe Seaview room and received Platinum benefits. Quite complete.
The room is okay. I like it because I have to pay only 1,402 baht per night. The room is full due to a long holiday. I'm glad I upgraded. I have reserved 3 rooms, there are welcome drinks for all 3 rooms.
For dinner, most of the guests leave their stomachs at the Buffet Hotel because it is Songkran Festival. Accor Plus cannot use the discount at all. The price is not expensive, only 530 baht per person, but.. Phra Chuay Thai food is delicious. Anyone staying here recommends trying Thai food.
The happy hour here is satisfyingly long from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Anyone who eats the buffet will receive a buy 1 free 1 promotion until 10:00 p.m., very worthwhile.
The highlight of this place is a lot of photo angles, and taking beautiful photos, but the beach is not okay, which is a weak point. The sea water is hardly played because there are a lot of rocks. I mostly stay at the swimming pool 100% recommend if anyone sleeps here to relax and snorkel on the last day, come back to swim at the pool, take chic photos and eat buffet 🙂
Breakfast is quite suitable for Thai people, focusing on spicy Thai food. It also has my favorite pizza.
The hotel has a Starbucks on the beach but does not participate in a star or membership program.
For me, April 13-15 is a rest day. I'm pretty happy here. Let's just say for Accor members or group members. If anyone comes to Koh Chang, recommend here. You can get both nights and points. If there is any problem during your stay, I suggest you don't wait, hurry and share with him. He knows the problem and is ready to take care of it immediately. Come to Koh Chang next time, Mercure is still our choice.

After staying on a small island for a few days the mecure hideaway was a nice treat. The room was large and clean with a nice big shower. F & B expensive but too be expected at a big resort so we just taxied to local eateries. Pool was nice. Would stay again.

The resort is on a private beach in a small bay. There are just a few restaurants and hotels at the beach. In the nearby village you can find restaurants and supermarkets. There are several pools, one is in front of the main building where the rooms have great seaview. Cheaper rooms are in another building at the back with another big pool. The rooms are all very spacey and well decorated. You can find almost everything you need. The restaurant offers themed-buffets several times a week. Breakfast offers all you need. Staff at the reception is bad in English, better ask for someone with language skills.

We have stayed in the pool access rooms here a few times and they get full sun all day. Try to get one down nearer the fountain end if possible as at the opposite end where the trees are there is a bit less sun and also some leaves fall in the water but nothing you couldn’t just pick out - it gets cleaned of any leaves every morning. Not stayed in a villa yet, but we are going back to Mercury next year and are going to try a villa as it will be our honeymoon 🥰

Hi, as far as I know all the rooms in the main hotel have balconies. The budget rooms are in a separate section at the front of the hotel, don't think they do. There is a mini mart right next to the hotel, so supplies are not a problem. I have to say though, we found the hotel food to be great with a wide variety of dishes available, something to suit everyone I would have thought. Staff are great too, really attentive. When we go back to Koh Chang we're definitely staying at the Mecure! 😎
