Hotel Baia Grande is often recognized for its spotless rooms and tranquil atmosphere, with many guests commending the comfortable beds and copious breakfast options. Despite the overall cleanliness and spaciousness of the rooms, some travelers point out that they can seem a bit dated and may lack tea or coffee facilities. While the live entertainment is a plus, it can be hit or miss in terms of attendance. Guests have mixed feelings about the value, citing additional transportation costs, but many still regard the hotel as a good deal. Service is typically warm, though there have been some reports of less-than-helpful reception staff.

The Baia Grande Hotel is situated in a little village just outside the main resort of Albuferia with a outdoor swimming pool its really nice and big, there's also a indoor pool and sauna, but these were closed due to covid. There was a poolside snack bar, which did nice food and drinks (a little pricey), but the staff Fabio and Miguel were fantastic, very friendly and nothing was too much to ask for. Great service!! We stayed bed and breakfast and it was OK, does get a little boring after ten
days though. All the staff were welcoming and chatty and made us feel comfortable. We only ate once in the evening at the hotel as it was buffet style. It wasn't anything to shout about to be honest. The twin room was pleasant enough with a Seaview on the balcony.
Included in the room is: TV, hairdryer, fridge (very small) and safe which you have to rent, aircon and WiFi (very slow). The shower head is not detachable, but its a very spacious bathroom. They cleaned our room everyday and were very friendly. The lighting in the rooms and hotel in general isnt very good. There's two lifts, a paino bar 🍸 and the main reception were you can get free towels too.
There's a beautiful beach 10 mins walk with a fab restaurant 😀 (ask for a for a map at reception). There is a posh little restaurant about 5 mins walk called O Marinherio 🥰 which does amazing food and excellent service, you might have to book its very popular (ask for outside). The Maria is about 6/7 euros in a taxi and its relaxed with a handful of place to eat and drink. The old town is fab with lots of old little streets, bars, restaurants, ice cream shops, stalls and gift shops. There is a main sqaure and a very big beach. Its very pretty at night. There's a little train that takes you from the old town to the new part.(we didn't venture there though).
I don't think I would stay in the hotel again as its a little too far out and it wasnt a four star. We did enjoy our hoilday and felt very lucky to be able to go away.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Baia Grande. Our room was big enough and had a lovely view (sea and pool).

The rooms have a minibar (which is handy), and a balcony with a table and 2 chairs. The rooms have AC.

The bathroom is big enough but would be nice if the bathroom had a little bit more light. The shower was good but would be better if you could have a different type of shower that you could move.

The breakfast was very nice: plenty to choose from (the bread was very good).

The pool area is very big: you can enjoy a lovely sunny day for sure! There’s a pool bar where you can eat or have a drink.

The staff is friendly!

The wifi can be a problem... If you plan to check your email and make some google searchs, you’ll be ok :) but if you do need a better wifi connection for something else like work/videocalls or movies maybe check with the hotel staff if there’s a wifi upgrade that you can pay so you can get a better wifi.

The hotel area is countryside style but you can go to Coelha Beach walking.

It’s a relaxing, lovely hotel.

It was a nice vacation and we enjoyed Hotel Baia Grande.

Unpretentious hotel set in a quiet spot far enough away from Albufeira to be peaceful but close enough for a touch of shopping when needed.
Rooms are roomy with balcony, comfortable beds, decent size wardrobe and safe (chargeable). We would have liked a grab rail for the in bath shower for safety (many of the guests are mature) and the wardrobe rail for clothes hangers was much too high because the top shelf was absent (room 236).
The pool area is well laid out with plenty of loungers and there is a small heated indoor pool.
The restaurant is modest in size with buffet food which is OK but the menu repeats weekly (as does the evening entertainment). A fortnightly cycle would be preferable for the many long stay guests.
The staff are friendly and efficient and our stay was very relaxing and enjoyable.

Worse stubborn and most unhelpful staff ever - in most service industries around the world, the customer is always right..not in this hotel, where the hotel staff is always right. We travelled as family of four to include 2 young children, but had to specify 2 adults on the booking to avoid an extra room being charged but did specify we needed a cot for the room. On check in, our kids were on the sofa close by. However, we were treated like criminals during our stay being accused for hiding our kids from the booking including even purposely locked out of our room straight after a swim which not professional or courteous. Once advised of the importance in the morning, we informed them we would see them later in the day, but as we were not quick enough, they decided to block our room entry card! Why not just leave a note in the hotel room etc instead of freezing our access when we were all cold and wet from a swim!

Other issues include very slow service at reception, and long queues in the morning for breakfast. I patiently waited for 30 mins to be seen by reception to ask for a beach towel to be told they ran out! During one breakfast, we had to split our family of 4 with 2 young children into two tables, but when one large table became free, we asked if we could take to be told NO WAY, for it to be taken by 4 adults, bizarre?!
Ps you need a car for this hotel, shuttle buses are VERY limited and nearest supermarket is a 20 mins walk!

Each time I complained to senior management, they are very quick to boast about their experience and hotel policies etc but NEVER truly listen or address customer issues, hence found them to be the most unhelpful and stubborn staff including general manager himself. I am just waiting for them to reply to this email, once again defending their hotel policy and magnificent staff etc...
Avoid this hotel if customer service is an important part of your stay..very disappointing for a 4 star hotel, probably worse stay in my 28 years.

Dear Sir First of all, I would like to apology for the inconvenience caused to you and to your family with this incident. As I had the oportunity to explain to you during our phone conversation ,the reason why the Reception staff insist to get the registration of your children was a legal issue, because we can not have any clients in the Hotel( specially children) without a registration. After telling you in two different occasions during the day to come to Reception to clarify the situation without sucess and with the hours passing, they need to resolve the situation as soon as possible. I understand your point of view and that they can taken a different action. It was not a question of payment because as you know we do not charge anything for your children stay. For the mentioned operation issues ,unfortunately they happen due to the very high occupancy level registered on that period and please be informed that corrective measures have been taken to avoid they happen again. Best regards Manuel Baltazar General Manager

We had a mixed experience at this hotel. Firstly it’s not a 4 star, it’s a 3 star at most. The pool is nice, there’s a free shuttle to town and the reception staff are friendly….The breakfast is average and the food at the poolside bar is honestly some of the most disgusting I’ve ever had - the piri piri chicken in particular was inedible. Staff at the poolside bar are also incredibly rude and slow, our food sat for 10 minutes on the counter before the bar tended could bring himself from flirting with his colleague to bring it to us. Location isn’t amazing, it’s not close to anything so you have to get taxis everywhere. The rooms were not cleaned very thoroughly and the pillows and bedding were old and dirty.

Worst of all - if you are heading here with young children I’d maybe suggest you think again. Basically all the rooms face onto the pool, once a week they have a ‘BBQ’ with music, this goes on from 7pm-11pm and is right outside all of the bedrooms. Luckily we brought our white noise machine, but it was honestly absolutely horrendous, thumping absolutely rubbish music played by a tuneless band for hours on end.

I think unless you are a single older couple avoid this hotel like the plague.

After being to this hotel for many years it still seems to get better with each visit. The indoor pool has now been upgraded with steam room and sauna. Unfortunately we had to cut short our holiday because of the virus but the hotel staff were wonderful how they looked after us especially when we were confined to the hotel. The staff seemed to work extra hard to ensure cleanliness all round and we were impressed how they sanitised themselves especially in the restaurant. We are hoping to go back in September as usual. Many thanks for your care and keep safe and well.

Possibly the worst value for money accomodation I've experienced.
Not really sure how it qualifies as a four star hotel. The room itself was very basic with paper thin walls (felt like I was in a daytime soap opera from about 7am onwards).
Lunch took over an hour to arrive (a ham & cheese sandwich), which when it finally did, turned out to be a tuna sandwich (alas the ham of the sea!). When the error was noticed, I was then asked if I liked Tuna!
The indoor pool & facilities consisted of a child sized pool(from which towels inexplicably had to be obtained from the reception area upstairs as opposed to the "wellness centre" situated at the pool/there were no lockers either), which required mandatory headcaps at 5 euro a pop, a steam room, an out of order sauna and a gym closet.
No tea or coffee facilities in the room either, which required a staff member to open your locked mini-bar - answers on a postcard please....

Felt like a disorganized hostel for troubled youths as opposed to a 4-star hotel & spa retreat.

We came back from Portugal on Saturday I must say this hotel is beautiful very clean and smells fantastic.there is an amazing view from the top floor of the hotel, the beach is roughly 5 minute drive you could walk it quite easily.
There is a mini shop just outside the hotel. The indoor pool was great especially with the steam room and sauna but be advised to take swimming caps as you can't use th indoor pool without them, you can purchase from the hotel for a small fee of 5 euros per cap.
The breakfast was great enough variety, however we didn't really think too much of the evening meal not much choice for kids the salad bar was lush.
The hotel staff are wonderful and the barman was ace.
I would definitely come back here again but probably breakfast only.
It could do with possibly a heated outdoor pool for chillier days and some more activites for kids, the outdoor pool area is lush plenty of seating.

The hotel is just ok. It is not value for money. The price of a 4-star hotel with the service of a 3 star one. The worst issue is about the service. Except for a couple of persons, general attitude was of lack of interest and low professionalism. Not even a smile. It seemed to us that a large part of the staff had no experience in the hospitality industry.

One good thing about the hotel is undoubtedly the pool: very large and with plenty of space compared to the size of the hotel, which is relatively small. However, the pool needs some important refurbishing. There is only one ladder for the entire pool and it is missing the last step. In addition, although there is a ramp area to enter the pool gradually, we missed a railing on each side, which could be useful for people with reduced mobility. Lastly, half of the perimeter of the pool does not have a drain grate, so at the end of the day quite uncomfortable and dangerous puddles appear on the edge of the pool.

The rooms have been renovated and are nice and comfortable, except for the supplementary bed for our kid, which was old and uncomfortable. It was also broken (she slept on the floor the first night because nobody fixed it when we complained). As a suggestion, the bathroom screen is short and the water comes out. Finally, paying 2 euros/day for using the safe is something I had not seen in a hotel for a long time.

The buffet food is correct, with nicely cooked dishes, although without a great variety. Breakfast is a bit poor in fact. No attention to details. For example, there is only one milk jug and it is not labelled, so you have to guess what is inside. Also, there are no alternatives, like skimmed milk, lactose-free, soy, etc. The service is slow both at the restaurant and the pool bar.

The evening music events at the piano bar were very nice, though. Different musicians and styles, and all of them pretty good.

We paid more than 300 euros/night for a family of 3, with half board. It is a pity that an hotel like this, that could be a really nice hotel, it is so badly managed.

Arrived home today 16th oct 22 after a 3 day stay at this hotel.
Before booking we read location & reviews so knew what to expect.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay & will return. It was perfect for what we wanted. Just a relaxing weekend away with a bit of luxury. Pool immaculate, although we went knowing we were going to be at the beach every day which is a 10minute pleasant walk away. Used Google maps to get there. No shops close by so we would recommend picking uo what you need in the town if you visit.
We were bed & breakfast, breakfast was plentiful, full english, cereal, yogurts, rolls with cheese & cold meats, porridge, pancakes, fresh fruit & salads, coffee (all sorts & teas) we had nothing to add! What more could you want.
The location puts many off, yet we went for peace & quiet. Our children are grown up, wouldnt be a place for kids, nothing around.
We took a taxi every night into the old town which cost 10 euro each way, lots of bars, restaurants, live music, a beach, thoroughly enjoyed.
My only complaint was when leaving they said that a 21euro bill had been added to our room which we had not rung up, from the pool snacks bar, we hadnt spent any time at the pool. To order food you just have to give a room number apparently & that room gets charged. This should be looked into as anyone could get away with this. Thankfully the guy at reception wrote it off as it wasnt ours. I think maybe you should have to show something more for proof of room if being charged to your room as this could have dya consequences. Over all, a fab stay, staff were great, very pleasant & will definitely return :)

I am not sure. I emailed myself and asked if they provided kettle etc. and when we arrived they were waiting for us.. We did take our own coffee and tea and also powdered milk as we drink quite a few cups each day. The hotel is a lovely hotel, taxi ride from Center but rooms and all facilities excellent. Could not fault and recommend.
